Funny: Transformers: Robots in Disguise

    The 2001 anime
  • While she tries to get onto a subway train, Kelly still can't catch a break.
Kelly: What's the idea?! I put my money in already!
    Worker: You didn't pay enough.
Kelly: I paid the full fare!
Kelly: What the...?! You let him through! What's going on around here? How come he didn't have to pay anything? That isn't fair!
Worker: Fine! You tell him he can't go through!
  • In "Wedge's Short Fuse", the Build Team and the Predacons meet for the first time. Unfortunately, it seems none of them have every been told exactly what the other group looked like.
Heavy Load: Wedge, if I'm not mistaken. That dancing shark having a nervous breakdown on the iceberg is Sky-Byte.
  • In an episode called "Sky-Byte Saves The Day", Anti-Villain Sky-Byte threatens to knock a building over. When he is begged not to harm his hostages, he gets confused. Not only has he no clue what kind of ransom to ask for, but when the building starts to come down he goes and holds it up, making it look like he's helping. Sky-Byte just gets more and more confused under the weight.
Sky-Byte: Now, more than ever before, my dear hostages need me!
  • More highlights with Sky-Byte include "Skid's Decision", where during a race and Sky-Byte is in a Paper-Thin Disguise as a car, and Megatron mistakes him for an Autobot, twice. The first time, he speeds up and runs him off the track, and barely hearing Sky-Byte screaming that it's him, says afterwords that the voice sounded familiar. The 2nd time, Megatron is in his jet mode and sees Sky-Byte at the bottom of cannon. Sky-Byte desperately tries telling Megatron that it's him, but Megatron doesn't hear and buries him under ruble.
  • One episode had the Decepticons claim that they wanted to defect from the Predacons and join the Autobots. Optimus being Optimus welcomes them happily (and blindly), but Side Burn (wisely) suggests that they test the 'Cons first. And as one would expect, Hilarity Ensues.
Scourge: You mustn't ignore the traffic laws. You might get hurt.
    Human Driver: AHHHHH!!!
  • Sky-Byte and believe it or not, Ultra Magnus in "The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus" are a surprisingly funny pair.
Sky-Byte: You can destroy the train of your choice. (gleeful) Would you like me to take some pictures?
Ultra Magnus: Pictures? (lost for words, for once) Uh... no.
  • In "Galvatron's Revenge" we have a Moral Event Horizon by Galvatron trying to flood the space bridge with lava to kill the Autobots and Decepticons, still sore about Scourge turning on him two episodes earlier. Sky-Byte, whose also in the tunnel points that he never betrayed him, to which Galvatron replies:
"I'm afraid I didn't order you in there Sky-Byte, you're on your own."
  • The Predacons disguise themselves (mostly poorly) as Autobots. They all chose Optimus.
  • Sometimes, subverting a Comedy Trope can be just as funny as playing it straight:
(Trapped under water and sees Megatrons detonator floating down)
    All: Eh?
Side Burn: What is that thing?
Prowl: A remote device, what could its function be?
X-Brawn: Hm, can we use it to order some barbecue?
Side Burn: Why don't you push the buttons and find out? Maybe they have a cute delivery van.
Side Burn and X-Brawn: (Mumbling) Right. Whatever.

  • For context: Blurr, searching for Ironhide and the Dinobots, has just run into an explosion.
Starscream: Ha! I said that! Right before he left, I literally said that the only way that idiot could find anything is if it exploded in his face! Now look at that! Ha ha! I was just kidding, but look-
    Metalhawk: Starscream.
Starscream: What-? Oh you want to help. Fine.
  • There's a great shout-out to sister series MTMTE when Wheeljack expresses the danger of the crashed Metrotitan by explaining it's a 0.6 on a scale from "Reasonable to Brainstorm''. 0.6 Brainstorms apparently involves turning an entire solar system into a black hole of death.
  • Nova Prime and his cohorts introduce themselves via an Introdump based after those in the old Marvel comic, complete with old-school art and coloration techniques. It is glorious.

  • Everyone's been exiled from the city, and the Autobots realize the Constructicons are following them. They prepare for attack, the Dinobots jump the Constructicons and Prowl realizes things have just gotten really out of hand. Then-
Prowl: Wait, wait, this isn't right. Everybody, stop. Constructicons, what do you want?
Hook: We want to be on your side.
Prowl: What?! You want to be Autobots?
    Hook: Not Autobots. You.
    Prowl: ...
    • It's really Prowl's absolute shock that sells it.

  • Apparently Galvatron calls Astrotrain "spacebus". Even funnier, he knows Astrotrain's actual name. He just doesn't care.

  • Starscream getting to be in charge of Cybertron is a very meta, franchise-scale point of humor. For extra points, one panel points out that he "isn't loving it".

Issue #35

  • On the subject of Starscream's rulership of Cybertron and being the "Chosen One", Galvatron at one point grumbles that the originator of that particular prophecy, Alchemist Prime was tripping on twelve drams of rancid Energon when he thought the "prophecy" up, which suggests it's all complete and utter nonsense.

  • Spike and Jimmy anger a pedestrian while fleeing from Prowl.
    Random Bystander: Idiot Americans!
    Jimmy: I'm from Canada!
    Spike: You're from Portland!
Jimmy: Shh! They don't know that. People hate us enough without going all blues...

    The 2015 show
  • Sideswipe's complete lack of interest in what's going on with Bumblebee in the first episode, especially in the museum.
Sideswipe: PLEASE take me to jail, this place is so much worse.
    • The museum guards conclude Bumblebee is an imposter, and not a very good one either. Bumblebee takes offence to that.
  • Near the end of the second episode, Grimlock has proven he can be trusted. So Bumblebee allows the former Decepticon on his fledgling team by placing him on probation. Grimlock is, pleased.
Grimlock: (dances around, hugging whomever he can) I'm on probaaaation! Yes on probaaation!
  • After Bumblebee chooses Grimlock to join him on a mission over Sideswipe and Strongarm, Grimlock mocks the two of them by performing a dance... right behind Bumblebee, who doesn't even notice.
  • After Grimlock takes a really hard knock to the helm, he's told to go back to the base and attempts to do so by wildly flailing his arms in the air and hopping a few times before looking at his hands in confusion.
Bumblebee: *takes Grimlock by the arms* Oh, yeah, you can't fly, pal.
Grimlock: *as he's being lead away by Strongarm* Since when can't I fly?
  • Grimlock's "vehicle mode": wearing a fake grill, putting wheels on his limbs, and shuffling around while going "Vroom vroom".
    • Any time Grimlock tries to hide. When a customer comes, Russell hisses at Grimlock, a 30 foot dinosaur, to hide. Grimlock looks around frantically and then freezes in a panic. The visiting girl takes him for a huge metal statue of a T-Rex.
  • In "W.W.O.D?" Bumblebee tries to mimic Optimus Prime's command style by talking to his team in a suitably "Optimus-like" voice. The result? The team bursts out laughing, with Sideswipe calling it the "worst Starscream impression" he's ever heard.
  • During episode six, Sideswipe gets out of helping Fixit clean things up by claiming to take over his elephant stall cleaning duties if he does it by himself. The cincher?
Fixit: Wait... Then what have I been cleaning?
    • Bumblebee tries to tell Sideswipe off but gets distracted by his music, admitting he likes Earth's music too.
  • During True Colors
    • When they find out that the reason Grimlock double-crossed them is because he was being controlled by a tiny insectoid Decepticon, they search every nook and cranny on his armor he could fit in. Grimlock is very ticklish.
Strongarm: Enough with the tricks, Minitron! We know you're—SWEET SOLUS PRIME!
Bumblebee: What? Is he on me? Get it off, get it off, get it off!
    • Strongarm and Sideswipe continue to act like bickering siblings, with terrible timing.
Strongarm: Grimlock assaulted both you and Bee without cause.
Sideswipe: You assault me all the time! (Gets knocked away by Grimlock)
  • During Even Robots Have Nightmares we see what the team fears the most. Some of them are legitimately frightening. Bumblebee fears failing at his duty as a leader and the subsequent destruction of what he was charged with protecting. We find out that Sideswipe is claustrophobic. Grimlock? He doesn't like small, cute things.
  • In Ghosts and Imposters we have Drift pretending to be a ghost, complete with a sheet over him and making "oooh" and "boo" noises.
