As a Funny Moments page, all spoilers are unmarked as per wiki policy. You Have Been Warned!

Just because Thanksgiving (2023) is Darker and Edgier than the fake trailer, that doesn't mean that it completely forgoes the laughs.

Eli Roth certainly is a master at the craft of turning distressing scenes into pure comedy, although he and the producers also dip their feet into other forms of bringing out laughter from the viewer. With all of the terrifying moments, trust us, these hilarious scenes would make for good seconds.

  • A riot breaking out at RightMart due to Black Friday? A very dark scene. But the must-have Black Friday item being waffle irons that turn the customers into a vicious mob? Darkly humorous.
  • How is Brett, the new deputy, introduced? Cutting off a random man with his truck.
Blue Car Driver: "What the fuck?!"
    Deputy Labelle: "Fuck you."
    • The next morning, when investigating Lizzie's murder, it turns out it wasn't a random man, but his new coworker Detective Chu. The two awkwardly admit to Newton they had already met, but don't give the circumstance.
  • While John Carver's house being trashed alludes to the "Thanksgiving Not Thanksbuying" movement (which is not funny), what Thomas says to Newlon after discussing the missing axe is pretty funny.
Thomas Wright (livid): "Come to RightMart! Where we slash prices, without a fucking axe!"
  • Lizzie's death is not funny in the slightest, but when the camera reveals that the lower half of her body is on RightMart's star with an ad advertising 50% off Black Friday deals? A chuckle-worthy observation.
  • Scuba only has his nickname because his last name is the rather unusual Dybing, meaning it's a rather random scuba diving pun in-universe too.
    Labelle: What's your first name?
    Scuba: Claude.
    Labelle: ...Yeah, Scuba's better.
  • "BLUNDERBUSS!"
  • McCarty banning some kids from his house party because they don't know what Black Sabbath is. And they might have been better off for it, because some other kids have been laying in his lounge for two days because of how stoned they are.
    • When Scuba goes to McCarty for a gun to use for defense from John Carver, he is off-put by all the Hand Cannons that McCarty keeps offering, asking if he has any "human-sized guns".
  • Evan bullies a scrawnier, nerdier student into doing his Thanksgiving writing assignment and refuses to pay him for it. Said student gives him a pretty eloquently written paper about the relationship that the Wampanoag tribe have with Thanksgiving. After reading it in class, the teacher says she couldn't have written it better herself... except that she did, as it was actually stolen from her own blog.
  • After killing Manny, the Carver proves himself to not be a total monster by taking the time to feed Manny's pet cat, and even gives it some head pats before leaving.
    • The build-up to it features Carver easily killing Manny and is ready to leave with his severed head — only to hear the cat meowing and react with mild surprise, almost like he legit forgot the animal was there in the midst of killing his target. As he turns, he sees the cat is expectantly sitting next to its food bowl, waiting to be fed. Cue a slight pause, suggesting he's about to do something awful to it... and then the scene cuts to the cat munching on kibble.
    • As the Carver leaves by stepping over Manny's headless corpse, his black bag nudges the electric carver embedded in Manny's gut, starting it up again.
  • During the attack in the school, Jessica manages to give the Carver the slip. Upon hearing something in the makeup room, the Carver does a weirdly adorable twirl with his axe, like he was thinking "oh no, where could you possibly be? I haven't a clue in the world".
  • After being abducted during the parade attack, Kathleen wakes up... to find the Carver pottering around a kitchen in an apron, and his mask and hat! Seems Newlon was really committed to the bit. Not to mention that - with his black and masked costume - the scene could evoke memories of V from V for Vendetta doing the same thing... except just not on an actual human.
    • Carver leaves his mask on an oven to check the temperature, and puts the melted remains back on, taking a moment to admire himself in the mirror. You can almost hear him thinking "yeah, I make this look good".
  • "Now is that any way to thank Kathleen? She's been cooking all day!"
