Although the comedic aspect of the Love Live! series were toned down in Nijigasaki, there are still funny moments albeit more grounded and hits at the right tone.

Season 1

• Episode 2:
  • Nana takes a cat to the face, thrown by Kasumi as part of her distraction. Hanpen the cat is apparently thrown so hard that Nana falls onto her bottom before it gets off and flees.
  • Kasumi successfully retrieved their club's placecard from the student council room, but after the opening theme plays, their former club room has been taken by another club.
  • Enraged Kasumi bites her own bread with her shark teeth after failing to retrieve the former room of School Idol Club and Shizuku leaving her after being called out by the Drama Club President.
  • After being awed while filming Kasumi's idol introduction, Yu tosses Kasumi's phone in the air in her excitement, forcing Ayumu to scramble to catch it before it hits the ground.
  • Ayumu feeling embarrassed when Karin passed by and spotted her practicing "Ayu-bun" gestures.
  • Yu suddenly appearing out of nowhere while Kasumi is lamenting

• Episode 6: Kanata suddenly and gracefully falls asleep while doing vocal exercises with Shizuku. Rather than crashing on the ground with a thud, she seems to lay down gently.

• Episode 7:
  • When Haruka arrives at the club, Kasumi does a lengthy introduction. By the time she finishes, the other club members had left the room and already went to the floor below, causing Kasumi to yell after them.
  • Kanata slips while doing a plank with an exercise ball under her feet, causing the ball to bounce up and smack Kasumi across the face. In the TV broadcast, Kasumi's hair just freezes upon impact!

• Episode 8: Rina holds a Rina-chan Board over Shizuku's face. The page she uses has an X_X face and Shizuku's hairstyle, all drawn with brown marker ink.

• Episode 10:
  • An Off-Model oversight from the TV broadcast which has been corrected in the BD release: When everyone returns to the bedroom, Yu is seen standing next to Setsuna, however a few moments later, Ayumu now stands beside Setsuna, seemingly swapped with Yu out of nowhere. Made even funnier when Ayumu had witnessed Setsuna clinging on Yu in an earlier scene.
  • At nighttime, while Kasumi pulls a Scary Flashlight Face, Setsuna nonchalantly sits up, throws her pillow at Kasumi to knock her out without turning toward her, and then lays back down while mumbling her "Setsuna Scarlet Storm" catchphrase. All while asleep.
    Ai: Wow, she did that in her sleep...

• Episode 11: After the student council approves the School Idol Festival proposal, the Vice President admits she began liking Setsuna Yuki, leading to the following exchange:
  Nana: Yuki-san would also be very happy to hear that someone likes her, definitely!
  Vice President: President, could it be... that you're also a Setsuna-chan fan too?!
  • Just before that, Nana is seen sweating profusely as she tried to maintain her composure in the face of the Vice President gushing about Setsuna.

Season 2

• Episode 1:
  • The club's rush to play their PV leads to Hilarious Outtakes getting played instead. The English dub took their reactions to a whole new level:
    Kasumi: What!? N-n-n-n-no! What the heck is going on!?
    Shizuku: That's the B-Roll footage we weren't going to use!
    Rina: [with the Rina-chan board on] Something went terribly wrong...
    • When Karin sees the one where she mutters in her sleep, she reacts loudly and draws nearby people's attention to her.
      Ai: Whoa...
      Emma: I don't think this is the right file.
      Karin: Yeah. But, it's still pretty cute if you ask me.
      Karin in video: I'm gonna close my eyes for a little bit and take a nap...
      Karin: Somebody stop that video right this second!!
      Girl: Huh? Look, it's Karin!
      Karin: [gasps]

• Episode 2:
  • The spying-on-Lanzhu scenes are full of these moments:
    • Emma, Kanata, Kasumi and Rina were all disguised with a face mask and sunglasses. Rina stands out the most.
    • After Lanzhu bought a rice cracker, Kanata went off to buy a gift for Haruka at which point Emma said it hits her right in her feels. Kasumi asks Emma who taught her to talk like that.
    • When Lanzhu is standing at the fortune telling booth, the four end up talking about their own fortunes they got.
    • The group arrives at a dessert buffet where Lanzhu dines all by herself, and so does the group themselves too to the point Kasumi asked them if they seemingly forgot why they were there. Emma was enjoying a plate ''stacked full'' of ice cream whereas Rina and Kanata only bought regular servings.
    • Lanzhu bought some merchandise of all nine of the School Idol Club members. This makes Kasumi loudly want to sign an autograph at the expense of exposing the group, only to be stopped by Kanata.
    • Lanzhu surprises them after her surprise concert. Kasumi is seemingly furious of her showing up out of nowhere.
  • Upon arriving at Lanzhu's room, Kanata rests in the empty bathtub and Kasumi tries to pull a weight machine to no avail.
  • Kasumi is being distracted by conversations between Emma and Lanzhu.
  • In the English dub, Yu calls Mia a cat person instead of asking if she likes cats from the Japanese dialogue.

• Episode 3:
  • Mia goes after Hanpen with a cat teaser in hand. However, upon being spotted by Yu, she hastily hides the toy behind her.
  • Setsuna asked Yu if something is bothering her. When she admits it, everyone gets shocked. Even Rina, Emma, Kasumi, and Kanata who are seen taking a nap earlier immediately respond to Yu.
  • During one scene where Emma, Rina, Kasumi and Kanata play a word association game, Rina asked what "Nijigasaki High School" makes them think of. Emma answered with "where Karin gets lost."
  • Kasumi getting completely embarrassed when Kanata, Emma and Rina found an Embarrassing Old Photo of her hidden in one of her photo albums.
    • The original Japanese voiceover simply had Kasumi denying that she was being cute in that photo. The English dub, on the other hand, gave us this gem:
    Kanata: It's the best thing I've ever seen!
    Kasumi: Then get your eyes checked!

• Episode 4: During their bowling sessions, Ai is excited when she gets a strike. Then Karin gets a strike, and Ai becomes upset.

• Episode 5:
  • Ayumu spying on Yu and Shizuku, only to be busted by Setsuna. She's understandably flustered and quickly has to stop Setsuna from revealing the both of them.
    • Made even funnier in the English Dub:
    Setsuna: So... that's why you're being a stalker?
    Ayumu: [nods quickly]
  • Shizuku's fantasy about Ayumu and Setsuna for her play. She pictures Setsuna as a beast who meets Ayumu as a maiden (per the official sub and dub).
    • Yu's reaction to Shizuku's alternate idea of Ayumu being the beast in both Japanese and English dub:
      Yu: Oh yeah... I totally get that / I can picture that.
    • Yu was most likely remembering Ayumu's love confession in episode 11 of the 1st season.
  • Setsuna basically Clark Kenting just to answer Shioriko on the phone.
  • Setsuna revealing that she thought Yu and Shizuku were on a date together. Ayumu's reaction sells it.
  • Lanzhu in her Love Live merch is so out of character, it's funny.
    • Right beforehand, Ayumu points her out when telling Yu not to buy too much "like that girl".
  • Yu managing to defuse the situation with Lanzhu is made funny when Lanzhu blushes from embarrassment.

• Episode 6:
  • Ayumu supporting Setsuna's claim of just being Nana, then Shizuku mimicking Setsuna's hairstyle and "Setsuna Scarlet Storm" phrase in hopes of fooling Shioriko while the real Setsuna is seen sweating profusely. It doesn't work as Shioriko already knew.
    • Shizuku's expression when acting makes the scene funnier
    • Shioriko's blank expression makes it even funnier
  • After Nana's video revealing that she's Setsuna Yuki, the Vice President hilariously has a freak out in the crowd.
    Vice President: Eh-eh-eh-EEEEEEEEEEEH?! / S-she just... WHAT?!

• Episode 7:
  • The Vice President trying not to reveal Setsuna's identity to the other academies while basically fangirling over her at the same time.
  • Yu furiously glares at the old photo of someone who seemingly looks like Shioriko.

• Episode 8: When the Niji High Express is about to reach the goal, the mini boat crashes against the last turn and gets stuck there, just inches away from the finish line. The crowds were stunned in silence. Hanpen soon passes through the crowd unnoticed, lays against the final column, and scratches an itch, getting the boat unstuck.
  Vice President: The goal is in sight-[the boat gets stuck at the last turn, accompanied with Sudden Soundtrack Stop] Huh?
  [The crowd is stunned in total silence]
  Nagashi Somen Club member: The boat's stuck! No!
  Nagashi Somen Club President: I just don't get it, the trial run worked.

• Episode 9: In the post-credits scene, Karin gets forcefully woken up by Emma and Lanzhu. After Emma explains that Lanzhu has moved in to the dormitories of Nijigasaki Academy, Karin gave a glance to the camera to express her disbelief.

• Episode 10:
  • When Kasumi hints at how the club president is the most popular, talented, and cutest among the members, Lanzhu thinks Kasumi's referring to her.
  • Mia gets annoyed at Kasumi's behavior.
    Kasumi: Yes, I am the president of this club, but don't call me Kasukasu!
    Mia: Jeez, you're really yappy. You're like some puppy.
    Kasumi: A-A puppy?! I'm not a puppy either! [growls with teeth bared]
    • In the English dub, Kasumi speaks in an "as the club president" tone as she declares a ban on unapproved nicknames.
  • Karin gets lost again, bringing Mia with her as well. Kasumi plots to have her be the one to find them only for Rina to reveal that Emma requested her to built an app to specifically track Karin's whereabouts. Kasumi was not impressed when Rina found Karin's location.
  • Shizuku makes a monologe before hitting the ball, however the ball smacked right into her face!
    Shizuku: I may be ace of the volleyball team. Okay, I'm actually terrible, but as long as I fully inhabit the world, I can return any pass, probably!
    [Frack!]

• Episode 11:
  • In a blink-or-miss moment, Kasumi dropped her tablet at Mia's response.
  • After the club's decision to decline from participating in the Love Live! competition, they must prepare for the upcoming examination:
    Kasumi: I feel like myself again.
    Rina: Now, we can concentrate on our studies.
    Kasumi: Umm, I'll try to stay on topic.
  • Kasumi barely gets through the exams (scoring 55 points out of 100), leaving the other girls happy... except for Mia, who facepalms from disbelief that all of her tutoring only led Kasumi to achieve that score.
  • Meta: During the initial streaming on Crunchyroll, the site erroneously used subtitles from Episode 8 of A Couple of Cuckoos, resulting in hilariously amusing subtitles in any given scenes. This was eventually fixed however.
    Shizuku: I got a wrong building! [with "Deathly" displaying on her face]
    Kasumi: You really suck at keeping friends, Onii.
    Setsuna: Erika-chan said she can't keep eating fried food. (Given that Setsuna is a Lethal Chef, the incorrect subtitle makes sense.)
    Karin: You should marry my son.

• Episode 12:
  • While everyone's laughing at Kasumi after proposing her next live's slogan, Kanata noticed Yu and Ayumu make their poignant face, much to her confusion.
  • In the English dub, Kanata's scream while making a giant banner is hilarious to hear, and in a later scene, her response at Shinonome Academy students got her excited.

• Episode 13:
  • Rina is testing her Rina-chan board for the live concert, however her mechanical board has malfunctioned.
    Ai: Does it work?
    Rina: Yup. Thanks. Rina-chan Board... Smile.
    Ai: Huh? Rinari, are you mad?
    [Her board is displaying angry face before started malfunctioning]
  • A still image of Y.G. International Academy students has Leo accidentally punched Yukari's face out of excitement.
  • Before the final part of the concert, Lanzhu promptly asked Kanata to try smacking her back after witnessing Ai and Kasumi does this to Karin and Emma's respectively.
  • In the "Future Parade" segment, there are a few scenes like Ayumu entering the room with Setsuna holding Shizuku's chin upclose in their costume, causing her note to dropped; and another scene with Ayumu helping Kasumi to tie her outfit, with Shizuku gushing at them from behind.

OVA / NEXT SKY

• Setsuna and Lanzhu fires a confetti shower at Ayumu's arrival, only to be shot at Aira, with Ayumu coming lately.
• Shioriko trying to speak in full English doesn't take so seriously and is quite hilarious to hear especially to English-speaking fans.
  Shioriko: Really? I see. Thank you for your time.
• Near the end of OVA, Rina, Shizuku, Ai, and Setsuna were writing something altogether, and when Yu is calling everyone to watch Isla's first video, Rina made it just in time to finished drawing her expressive Rina-chan board as her reaction.

Other

• During a stream with a couple of the Seiyuus, an image of Yu and Shizuku pops up. Aguri reacts accordingly.
