Fridge / Hank the Cowdog

Go To

Fridge Brilliance

  • Hank claims that the Coyotes' You No Take Candle way of speaking is its own separate language. It comes out the way it does because Hank is narrating the story, and his own understanding of Coyote is a bit limited, causing him to lose something in the translations.
  • In Lost in the Blinded Blizzard, Madame Moonshine calls out her rattlesnake bodyguard Timothy to deal with Rip and Snort. He fails miserably, which makes more sense when one realizes it's the middle of winter. Snakes are sluggish when it's cold; Timothy would have been at a severe disadvantage compared to the warm-blooded coyote brothers.

Fridge Horror

  • In The Case Of The One Eyed Killer Stud Horse, Sally May loses her temper and begins to strangle Hank, with a clear intent of killing him. note  She is interrupted by the sudden arrival of Grandma (with Ashley and Amy). What would have become of Hank if they had arrived a little later?
    • The fact that the same book shows she's pretty handy with a shotgun. What happens should Hank get onto her last nerve while she's within reach of it? For that matter, later books have both Loper and Slim reaching their Rage Breaking Point with Hank and lamenting/half-joking that they don't have a firearm or some other Improvised Weapon handy at that moment.
    • Also, if Sally May had killed Hank, he wouldn't have been able to save the girls from Tuerto.
  • In Drover's Secret Life, Drover narrowly escapes being eaten by an anaconda that is an attraction at a carnival. How many dogs have been eaten by the snake for the sake of entertainment?
