Foils in With Pearl and Ruby Glowing.

  • Basil and Lightning McQueen. Both had emotionally negligent parents, but Lightning's spoiled him whereas Basil's father was a Stage Dad. Both developed drug problems at a young age, though Lightning was responsible for Basil becoming hooked and the two knew each other in college, though Basil was a Grade Skipper and Lightning's parents bought his way in. Both went on to find True Companions in the form of Dawson and the Radiator Springs bunch after going their separate ways and they both become what they wanted to be (a race car driver and a detective) at the same time only to have Ratigan disrupt their new lives. They've also both been victimized twice by their first appearances on the stage. They both appear in "The Cell Block Tango", though Basil hasn't been victimized by the police and Lightning has. Basil however, was picked up by the Ark thanks to Ratigan, which Lightning was able to avoid.
  • Mercury and Emerald. Emerald grew up on the streets and wanted nothing more than a family, which caused her to latch onto her abuser and love her deeply, while Mercury grew up in a sexually-abusive household and wanted to kill his father, which he eventually did.
  • Mercury and Danny. Danny was a young theater hopeful and a dancer whereas Mercury learned Capoeira from a program on tv. Both end up being so severely injured that they lose the ability to do what they love, but while Danny is driven to despair over this, Mercury reacts in anger and kills his father. They also have very different interactions with the police, with Danny being falsely arrested and raped by the Dirty Cops and the officer who finds Mercury helping to cover up his starting the fire.
  • Weiss and Darla. Both are young, rich white girls from well to do backgrounds who make a False Rape Accusation against a person of color. However, Weiss' status comes mostly from her family whereas Darla is a star in her own right, Weiss is a Defrosting Ice Queen with Abusive Parents in the form of her father and a negligent mother, while Darla is a Spoiled Brat and Self-Made Orphan, and most importantly, Weiss mistook Bagheera for her actual rapist and had a My God, What Have I Done? moment upon realizing the truth but Darla knowingly accused Danny out of spite.
  • Danny and Bagheera. Both non-white men, victimized by the False Rape Accusation of a white girl. The former is a carefree-acting hopeful who was invited to a party by Darla for the purpose of framing him and the latter has a more no-nonsense personality but is a social worker and was mistaken for Weiss' real attacker after offering first aid at the rally-turned-riot she was attacked at. Both end up going to prison where they suffer Prison Rape by the Dirty Cops as well as a number of inmates, however, Danny is to prove himself innocent in court, getting some outside help from Basil, a complete stranger who happened to see through Darla's lies and no help from his friends who all believed him to be guilty along with everyone else including his cellmate who attacked him repeatedly, while Bagheera is convicted of his crime and serves some of his sentence but had his own loved ones standing by him along with his cellmate and was eventually exonerated when Weiss realized her mistake and worked to clear his name.
  • Amity and Darla. Both are rich white girls with a mean streak who make a False Rape Accusation against someone who has been nothing but kind to them. Darla does it because Danny is taking attention away from her and is remorseless, Amity does it because she's terrified of being seen as gay and victimized because of it, both acting in their own self-interests but Darla for her own gain and Amity out of self-preservation. Both appear onstage still lying, but Darla is remorseless and putting on a show while Amity is guilt-ridden, stammering and continuing to lie only because she feels that she's in too deep.
  • Duncan Matthews and Callisto. He's a rich Spoiled Brat, while she's homeless and lives in a bunker connected to the sewer. He assaulted Scott because of jealousy over Jean, while she kidnapped and assaulted Warren out of warped love. He makes disparaging remarks about the disabled kids at Xavier's house, while she suffers from delusions and obvious mental illness. He lies about everything while she tells the truth as she (wrongly) perceives it and openly calls him out for lying. She really is sorry for what she did; he's not.
  • Nezha and Bing are posed as opposites in their chapter, even with opposing nicknames of Heaven's Fire and Hellish Ice. Both are autistic Chinese teenagers whose parents hired aides who used Applied Behavioural Analysis. Nezha's autism manifests in him having an uncontrollable temper, while Bing's leaves him almost totally un-expressive. Nezha doesn't care what people think, while Bing dearly wants his father to approve of him. Nezha spent his entire life being told not to attack anyone even if they hurt him first, and ultimately froze when he was gang-raped by older boys because he feared getting in trouble. Bing thought his aide molesting him was okay until his father told him he should do anything he could to get away if someone did so, which resulted in him fighting back and smashing the aide's skull on a sink, killing him.
  • Darla Dimple and Lola Loud are young, blonde girls who made False Rape Accusations against someone older than them who ended up getting assaulted by the corrupt cops. Darla knew Danny would get arrested, while Lola thought Lori would just get grounded. Both of their accusations are disproven, Darla's because she exploded in anger during the trial and exposed herself, and Lola's because she confessed after finding out Lori was arrested and that she had to get a forensic exam done. Darla is completely unrepentant about what she did, while Lola is massively regretful over ruining her relationship with Lori.
  • Both Rocky and Lizzy spent their formative years in the Ark and have had their world views warped accordingly, yet still manage form an Odd Friendship with two fellow captives. However, Rocky doesn't realize anything is wrong with how he was treated and still treats it as normal, even with everyone telling him that he was abused pretty much all his life. Lizzy, on the other hand, is well aware that what she's going through isn't normal and wants to murder Ms. Tweedy because of it, jumping at the first escape chance she gets.
