  • The Adventure Time episode "Dungeon" has Finn trying to imitate Jake's ability to turn his hand into a makeshift key to open a lock, with predictable results.
  • American Dad!:
    • In "Threat Levels", a professional actor who pretends to be a bum fighter bites off one of his own thumbs, as it turns out he wasn't aware that he did it, and he doubled as a hand model.
    • In "Big Trouble in Little Langley", Steve tries to pull a stunt with dynamite to impress a lady — just to get his thumb blown off.
    • "Return of the Bling" features an insane Roger biting off one of Stan's fingers, a direct (and deliberate) Shout-Out to The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
      Steve: Roger! What'd you do that for?! You already have the metal!
      Roger: I don't know. They did it in the movie. I mean if we're gonna go for it, just go for it.
    • Subverted in "Wheels and the Legman in the Case of Grandpa's Key", in which a criminal apparently sends Steve and Roger Stan's chopped finger, but it turned out Stan himself sent it and it was actually a mozzarella stick with the crust sucked off.
    • "Finger Lenting Good" has Stan cutting off his own finger to fulfill Bullock's Lent pact with the family.
    • In "Kloger", Roger's text messaging creates visible, giant text bubbles. When Francine touches one, it strips her index finger to the bone because they're made out of flesh-eating bacteria.
    • In "Enter Stanman", Stan accidentally cuts his finger while trying to cut his steak. He then passes out from blood loss.
    • In "Yule. Tide. Repeat.", during a 5-minute "Groundhog Day" Loop that keeps ending with either his own death or the deaths of his family, Stan slides across an ice skating rink and has all of his fingers sliced by the skaters' blades, then bleeds out not long after.
  • In an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, a living murderous dummy cuts off Carl's fingers and keeps them by his side when pretending to not be alive.
  • The Mechanist from Avatar: The Last Airbender has three missing fingers, one for each failed attempt at creating a finger-safe knife sharpener.
  • Beavis and Butt-Head:
    • In one of the show's goriest moments, Beavis gets his index finger cut off while playing with a table saw in wood shop. It gets reattached later in the episode, but he breaks it off again while picking his nose.
    • Also, in the first season episode "Lawn & Garden", Beavis tries to use a chainsaw to kill a grasshopper that Butt-Head is holding, resulting in another lost finger. Thanks to the Reset Button, it apparently has grown back in time for the next episode.
  • On Big City Greens, a prominent aspect of Bill's design is that he lost half of his right index finger in a hay baler accident.
  • Bob's Burgers: In "The Kids Run the Restaurant", Bob is distracted while surrounded by his family loudly arguing as he chops tomatoes, and cuts himself between two fingers (or "finger-crotch" as the family calls it). As the doctor Bob gets at the emergency room is an inexperienced youngster, his attempts at stitching keep breaking.
  • Brickleberry - In "Steve the Fearless Pilot", this happens to Woody a lot.
    • Try living a day as Firecracker Jim. He's an amputated stump who lost both his hands and both his feet since he blew them off completely with his own explosives.
    • In "Trailer Park", Ethel tried cutting off BoDean's fingers to force him to give up Bobby's location. Though of course Ethel didn't bring her own knife, and she finds BoDean only has plastic knives. BoDean "assures" he has plastic spoons too.
  • Castlevania (2017):
    • Trevor Belmont comes across a priest threatening to kill an old man. He then unfurls his whip and snaps it at the priest. Trevor intended to snatch the priest's weapon out of his hand, but he was out of practice with the whip so his aim was off. He got the staff out of his hand, but took the priest's index finger with it.
    • When Hector needs to remove a cursed ring that forces him to obey Lenore, he borrows Isaac's knife and cuts the finger off.
  • In the Chowder episode "The Chain Recipe", Mung Daal receives a Chain Letter telling him to bake a recipe, which he brushes off, resulting in him being cursed with bad luck. First, he gets a paper cut that splits his finger straight open, then Shnitzel trips on a lemon and accidentally squirts lemon juice straight into the wound, causing Mung to scream in pain and his finger to turn black and shriveled like a burnt-out match.
  • In an episode of Drawn Together, Captain Hero, while yelling at Xander, casually cuts off his own fingers with an opener in a fit of rage.
    • There's also the scene when Clara, in a very Hostel-esque setting, starts ripping Foxxy's fingernails. When Foxxy has finished saying her comfort words, Clara actually has one of her fingers in the pliers.
    • In another after thinking the others are dead from the rapture, Princess Clara at one point sticks her hand into the garbage disposal and cuts off all her fingers.
  • Family Guy:
    • In one episode, Peter gets his fingers blown off by a stick of dynamite.
    • In another, while drunk during a drinking game, Peter smashes all his fingers with a hammer.
    • During a montage of Quagmire becoming addicted to Tinder, he swipes across his phone's screen so many times so fast that he whittles his index finger to the bone.
  • Final Space: In "One of Us", Ash's duel with the Lord Commander at the beginning ends with the latter unleashing an attack that breaks the former's fingers, rendering her powers unusable. Later in "The Devil's Den", a post-Faceā€“Heel Turn Ash returns the favor to the Lord Commander after he achieves his One-Winged Angel form, showing just how much greater Invictus' power is than his.
  • Fired on Mars: While moving rocks on the surface of Mars, Jeff uncaps his index finger to answer a text message, only for the extreme cold to freeze the finger in seconds. It ultimately falls off, though he gets a cybernetic replacement later.
    • When he explains this incident to Crystal, she shares her own experience with losing her thumb in an acid accident. Her replacement is relatively fancy, looking like an ordinary thumb while also housing a pen.
  • One episode of Futurama has Amy accidentally cut off her own finger with a chisel. She acts as if she only broke a nail.
  • In the Green Lantern: First Flight animated movie, Kilowog steps on a yellow power ring, breaking it. Since Sinestro happened to be wearing it at the time, this also resulted in breaking all Sinestro's fingers.
  • The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy:
    • In "The Loser From the Earth's Core", Billy shows Grim and Mandy his frostbitten hands from being out in the cold without mittens because he gave them to Nergal (who didn't wear them, he used them as kindling for a fire made from Billy's game console). One of his fingers then falls off.
    • In the Halloween special "Underfist", after recovering from a beating, Hoss Delgado threatens a monster while shaking his finger at it, only for his finger to snap and break off.
  • King of the Hill:
    • Dale's inattention causes Hank to accidentally cut Dale's finger off with an electric saw. It gets reconnected, though.
    • It's been mentioned that Boomhauer lost his pinky toe in a camping accident.
    • After being blown out of a tank, Bill cheerfully says his carpal tunnel is gone and shows the guys his severely broken hand, including twisted fingers.
    • "Ahh!! I ain't got no fingers!"
  • The Legend of Vox Machina: While the event itself isn't shown, a Freeze-Frame Bonus from Percy and Cassandra's escape from the Briarwoods shows that both of them are missing their fingernails, with the nailbeds being left raw and bloody.
  • In a Looney Tunes short where Sylvester chases Tweety into a dollhouse; as he reaches for him, Tweety paints his finger to look like himself and Sylvester shoots it. Sylvester screams in pain and looks at his finger which has the top blown off and it's burnt and steaming.
  • Primal (2019): In "The Colossaeus III", Queen Ima disarms Spear by slashing all of his fingers barring his thumbs, though it's a mild case as he doesn't lose any of them.
  • ReBoot: Happens to Herr Doktor, one of Megabyte's viral binomes, in "Bad Bob" when Bob uses Glitch to turn into a buzzsaw and disable the computer Herr Doktor is using. The large monitor lands flat on his fingers.
    Herr Doktor: "My digits!"
  • In one episode of Regular Show, Skips' fingers get crushed by a harpsichord after trying to move it out of the house.
  • The Ren & Stimpy Show:
    • In "Hermit Ren", Stimpy hammers a nail into his own finger while hanging a picture.
    • In "Magical Golden Singing Cheeses", Stimpy had earlier given the cheeses to a giant to use as shoes, but needs them so he and Ren don't starve to death and attempts to get them back while the giant is sleeping. After pulling on them, he gives up and tries a new idea: he takes a crowbar and accidentally jams it into one of the giant's big toes, ripping off one of his toenails in the process.
  • In the "Vat of Acid Episode" of Rick and Morty, Morty survives a plane crash and gets stranded in a very cold, snowy area. He goes on a trek to recover his luggage and when he finds his phone, the screen is frosted over and operating it with his frostbitten hand causes bleeding and loss of skin on his fingertip.
  • In the Rocko's Modern Life episode "Carnival Knowledge" upon arriving at the carnival Slippy shows Rocko and Heffer his latest victim ("a satisfied customer" as he calls him), a pig covered in cuts and bruises while wrapped in bandages and crutches walks by, he weakly gives Slippy the thumbs up before his thumb snaps and breaks off with blood spurting from the severed thumb.
  • In a season 12 episode of The Simpsons ("Trilogy of Error"), Homer gets his thumb cut off while trying to take a slice of brownie from the tin as Marge is still cutting it. It gets sewn back on later.
    • The McBain episode featured in "Last Exit To Springfield" features a scene (you might have to slow this scene down or pause it) where he mows down Mendoza's henchmen and you can see the one eating cake getting his thumb blown off.
    • In "Bart the Mother," Homer attempts to play five-finger filet (four in his case), but instead of missing his fingers he winds up stabbing each and every one.
    • In "G.I. D'oh," Homer hides in the sewers when the Army invades Springfield to search for him. When he pokes his head out of a manhole to see if the coast is clear, a tank runs over the cover with Homer's fingers poking out.
    • In the third segment of "Treehouse of Horror XXVIII", when Homer starts engaging in escalating Autocannibalism, he first realizes that he tastes delicious when he accidentally cuts off his finger while attempting to cut a frozen hot dog, then grills said finger and eats it.
  • In the South Park episode "Let Go, Let Gov" Alec Baldwin cuts his thumbs off with a meat cleaver to punish himself so he can't type offensive things on Twitter anymore.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants:
    • Happens in "No Weenies Allowed" when SpongeBob wants to get into the Salty Spitoon. He cracks his knuckles and his entire fingers snap like sticks, resulting in him putting them into some ice cream to relieve the pain.
    • "The Splinter" features a rather detailed closeup of SpongeBob getting a splinter in his thumb.
    • "Tea At The Treedome" has a very mild case. When Sandy takes the flowers from SpongeBob, part of his finger breaks off.
  • Star vs. the Forces of Evil: A major plot of the second season is Moon Butterfly blasting Toffee's finger off with a powerful spell, her daughter Star finding said finger and getting it out of her wand, and Toffee possessing Ludo and announcing he's reclaiming his finger.
  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars: In "Innocents of Ryloth", clone trooper Boil gets bitten on the finger by Heartwarming Orphan Numa when he tries to approach her, to his considerable irritation.
  • Star Wars Rebels: In "Legacy of Mandalore", Gar Saxon gets the fingers of his right hand severed at the first knuckle when Sabine disarms him during their duel.
  • In an episode of Superman: The Animated Series, a mook attacks Superman with gloves that allow him to control giant hands. Superman breaks the giant hands, and the same thing happens to the mook's hands.
  • On SuperMansion, The Groaner's finger gets cut off by one of Black Saturn's throwing discs in his second appearance and ends up in a pickle jar. Brad finds the jar containing the finger at a grocery store and plans to use it to sue the store for a quick buck, only for Cooch to unknowingly eat it.
  • In the Sym-Bionic Titan episode "Roar of the White Dragon" while fight a giant slime beast with long arms at one point they use the Titan to break one of the monster's fingers causing it to scream in pain, they then rip off its arm and beat it with it.
  • The first episode of Teacher's Pet has the school principal Crosby Strickler mention that he hates dogs because he got half of his thumb bit off by one that was brought to class when he was in the fourth grade.
  • In the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) episode "Insane in the Membrane", Baxter Stockman only becomes convinced that his new body is unstable when he watches his index finger spontaneously melt off.
  • In the Tex Avery cartoon "The Cuckoo Clock" at one point the cat reaches for the cuckoo bird inside a mouse hole the bird takes the cat's thumb and paints it to look like himself, the cat thinking he has the bird pulls out a gun and shoots it, he screams in pain and we see his thumb with a hole in it and it deflates.
  • Tom and Jerry:
    • In Trap Happy, Butch gets his fingers crushed under the weight of a wall he was trying to lift to catch Jerry. The mouse then hits each of his fingers with a hammer from inside the wall.
    • In the Gene Deitch short Down and Outing, while Tom and Jerry are in the master's car, Jerry pushes down on the gas pedal and makes the car speed out of control. The master sees Tom's paw searching for Jerry underneath him and he, thinking the cat is to blame for the incident, stomps on it with his foot.
    • The short Sorry Safari has the same brutish master slamming the lid of his lunchbox on Tom's fingers while the cat is searching through it for Jerry.
  • Transformers: Prime has Predaking brutally stomp on Ultra Magnus' right hand. A full repair isn't possible with the Autobots' limited resources, so his hand is replaced by a rudimentary claw-appendage for the rest of the series (and he never deploys his gun on that arm again either, implying that he can't).
  • Randal tries to pull a stunt with dynamite in Ugly Americans, only his entire hand is blown off. He's a zombie though, so he gets better.
  • What A Cartoon! Show
    • In The Kitchen Casanova, the title character is chopping vegetables while thinking of his love interest Doris, and he accidentally cuts off one of his fingers. He bandages it up but accidentally replaces it with a carrot at first.
    • The short Help! has the cat protagonist pricking his finger and going to the hospital while it's still swollen, suffering more pain throughout the trip until the doctor almost chops it off with an axe.
  • Wishfart: One episode has Dez get his wish-granting finger guillotined by some other leprechauns as punishment for his refusal to conform to leprechaun stereotypes. While the finger does grow back very shortly after being cut off, it does cause him a significant amount of pain and wishing magic spurts from the wound like High-Pressure Blood.
