Go To

A monster movie from The Asylum, Two-Headed Shark Attack is the first film in a series (including 5-Headed Shark Attack) where mutant aberration giant sharks with multiple heads and ramped up aggression stalk ocean-faring groups of bystanders.

Tropes in the movie:

  • Academic Alpha Bitch: Downplayed with Lyndsey, who takes her high grades seriously and is quick to complain about anyone distracting her from her work.
  • Action Girl: Kate starts out just willing to place herself in the vicinity of the shark to help people, but during the final showdown, she swims between the two shark heads so that neither can get her and then stabs the shark several times with a piece of wood.
  • Brainless Beauty: Liza is one of the prettiest women in the cast, struggles with completing her classwork or using shipboard tools, and freely admits that she only joined the oceanography course to sunbath and party on a yacht all semester.
  • Brainy Brunette: The three most intelligent students, Kirsten, Dana, and Paul, all have dark hair. Dana and Paul seem to know the most about aquatic wildlife, while Kirsten is the most level-headed about planning how to survive the shark attack.
  • Dirty Coward: Cole never hesitates to put distance between himself and the shark, even when it means putting his friends in worse danger than they were before (like driving off in a boat that someone else was going to use to escape danger).
  • Dwindling Party: As usual for the production company, people fall victim to the antagonist at a fast rate, and out of the twenty-three passengers and crew of the yacht, only Kate and Paul remain at the end.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: While being brutally mauled by both shark heads at once, Kirsten manages to use a lighter to ignite a barrel of fuel and blow up one of the shark's heads.
  • Happily Married: Professor and Mrs. Banish enjoy working together, look out for each other when things get dangerous, and have a peaceful Last Kiss as they wait for the approaching shark to devour them.
  • Improvised Weapon: No one has any actual weapons to use against the shark besides a gun Lyndsey finds, so they have to settle for trying to hurt it with things like a jagged plank, a barrel of oil, and the altar cross from a church.
  • Odd Friendship: Brainless Beauty Liza and Academic Alpha Bitch Lyndsey constantly hang out together and there is no friction between them.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Brainless Beauty Liza and Kirsten (the Girly Girl half of a Tomboy and Girly Girl duo) are the only characters who wear any noticeable amount of pink in the movie.
  • Those Two Guys: The two constantly frustrated yacht crewmen who speak little English share most of their plot role and screen time.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Kirsten (who is one of the more empathetic characters, carries a girly purse everywhere, and enjoys sunbathing) and Kate (a former welder who has a pierced navel and is one of the few female characters to spend a significant amount of time in shorts rather than a bikini bottom) share a lot of their scenes and become friends over the movie.
