Kilee (Brec Bassinger) is a teenage girl who's dealing with the death of her father two years ago. She, her mom Sarah (Kristy Swanson) and sister Chrissy (Madison Lawlor) have recently moved into a new house, and while getting settled in, Kilee finds a Creepy Doll hanging by a noose in the tool shed.
Kilee learns that the doll has the power to bless, or curse, people she wishes to. After she finds it works with Chrissy's leg, she starts using it to make things go her way. However, soon the wishes she makes start growing in power, and the doll starts getting much more malicious.
The film was released on September 22nd, 2018.
Killer Under the Bed contains examples of:
- Asshole Victim: Tina basically blackmailed Kilee into giving her her father's jacket under threat of spreading false rumours about her. Kilee responds by using the doll to make Tina's lips swell up.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Each wish Kilee makes with the doll has unforeseen consequences as they get more intense.
- Kilee wished for Chrissy's knee to hurt. Now the pain flares up whenever the doll feels like it.
- Kilee wished for misfortune to befall Tina. First her lips swell up, and later the doll tries to kill her.
- Kilee wished for her teacher, Mr. McCabe, to like her. He becomes insanely obsessed with her.
- Kilee wished for Dr. Ryder to consider her mom a good dentist. It somehow leads to her being convinced that Sarah was out to ruin her.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Tina. She acts all friendly towards Kilee, and then basically extorts her under threat of spreading false rumours about her.
- Bland-Name Product: When Kilee is trying to look up info on the doll again, she uses Giggo Search.
- Bloody Handprint: Tina leaves one on her car's rearview mirror when she's being attacked by the doll.
- Bound and Gagged: Sarah finds the receptionist at the dental office unconscious on the floor, with her hands tied behind her back and a cloth tied over her mouth. Then Dr. Ryder tases her from behind.
- Chekhov's Gun: When Kilee finds the doll in the tool shed, she finds that it has a necklace on it. Then, at the climax, she remembers it, and decides to use it to stop the doll. Then she remembers that she has to use something personal, and grabs the name tag off of her father's jacket.
- Creepy Doll: The doll Kilee finds in the tool shed is decked out in white clothes, has very little hair, grey skin, long gangley limbs, black eyes, and a Mouth Stitched Shut.
- Disappeared Dad: Kilee's dad died in a crash two years ago rushing between commitments to both his daughters. Kilee is still hurt by it, and occasionally fights with Chrissy over which of them is at fault.
- Door Fu: Kilee uses a closet door do knock Mr. McCabe unconscious.
- The End... Or Is It?: The doll was hanged and bound with the pins, and all of Kilee's wishes with it are undone. The family decides to go and spend the night in the hotel, not wanting to set foot in the house again. Then Mandy arrives and takes the doll.
- Hope Spot: When Kilee sees Mr. McCabe after burying the doll, he talks to her about how he only remembers going home and grading tests. Then she goes to leave, and he grabs her shoulder, and tells her she will be his.
- Kill It with Fire: Chrissy manages to throw the doll into the fireplace, and the doll starts screaming and flailing as it burns, and then it stops moving. Sadly, it doesn't work.
- Locked into Strangeness: Mandy has these in her hair from when the doll drove her insane.
- Living Toy: The doll. Though it never moves on-screen until late in the movie.
- Mouth Stitched Shut: The doll's mouth.
- Time Skip: The movie starts with a girl hiding in a tool shed before being attacked by her unseen assailant. Then it jumps ahead one year.
- Tragic Keepsake: Kilee still wears her dad's jacket.
- Voice of the Legion: Chrissy starts talking in this voice when the doll possesses her body.
- Voodoo Doll: The doll Kilee finds functions like one. Whenever Kilee makes a wish and sticks a pin with something personal attached to it into the doll, that person is effected by the wish.
