These are recommendations made by Tropers for Fan Fics, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page, which is the speech bubbles on the left side of the set of links. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into shipping or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

• Synposis: As reality after reality slips through her fingers, she clings to the only certainty she has left: "My name is Carly. I know my name is Carly..." A one-shot.
• Comments: An entertaining look at some of the Fandom-Specific Plot's of iCarly fanfiction.
  • Alienof Doom: Really funny, and quite short. There's no reason you shouldn't give it a read.

iGo To The Hospital by Overkill

• Status: Dead
• Pairing(s): None (confirmed multiple times by the writer), but there are multiple scenes involving just 2 characters, and they can be interpreted as pre-romantic hinting for the various ships.
• Synopsis: Sam starts the day off with a small stomachache and thinks nothing of it, blaming it on some beef jerky. When the symptoms start getting worse and she feels sick, she has to rely on Carly and Freddie to help her out, especially with her fear of hospitals!
• Comments: A truly epic story that has reached more than 100 chapters, and nearly 2000 reviews, this is one of the best genfics this troper has ever read. All of the characters are completely in character, and if not for the length of time over which it takes place, this could very well be an actual iCarly episode.
  • Appears to now be a Dead Fic. However the main 'climax' of the story itself is complete.

Cam Fics

• Pairing(s) Carly/Sam
• Synopsis: An exploration of all the first times in the relationship between Carly and Sam told from a 2nd-person Carly perspective.
• Comments: The narrative is quite witty, but most importantly, really draws you into the story and makes you feel along with Carly. The lime parts are done well and, like the rest of the fic, feel natural. However, what really got this fic onto the recommendation list is the exceptional ending. It's unexpected while still following from the rest of the story, and if it doesn't move you then you have no heart.

iDiscover I Have Superpowers by Steampunk Beauty.

• Pairing: Carly/Sam. Unless the author is lying again.
• Synopsis: The iCarly gang stumbles upon an experience that changes their lives. Friendships will be tested, rivalries revisited, love & vulnerabilities revealed. Can the trio stick together or will they fall apart over the obstacles?
• Comments: Shipping aside it's a very good superhero fic. Knowing that it turns out Carly/Sam will probably result in a better reading experience than when it was actually being updated. Especially if you don't like being jerked around on pairings. This fic started out labelled as Sam/Freddie, then switched after a few chapters to Carly/Freddie, and then to Carly/Sam (possibly for good) and one can't help but feel the author was making a blatant attempt to get more hits and readers. But that probably wasn't the intention. Anyway, give it a try.
  • Should be considered a Dead Fic, it hasn't updated since August 2011.

• Synopsis: A party at Carly's starts a discussion on relationships, labels and definitions.
• Comments: Kinda suffers from Ending Fatigue, but it's a very nice Carly/Sam fic where they share cute moments. The writing is very good and the "voices" of the characters are true to the show.

Creddie Fics

iNever Knew by iLove iCarly (Warnings: M - sexual situations, depictions of sexual acts.)

• Pairing(s): Carly/Freddie
• Synopsis: Lemon. Spencer has some errands to run and Sam is running late for rehearsal – an afternoon alone for Carly and Freddie may change their relationship forever.
• Comments: A very well written lemon. The "sequel" story 'iNever Knew This Would Be So Hard' is about the aftermath of their night together.

iGrow Up by Enula

• Pairing(s): Griffin/Carly, Carly/Freddie
• Synopsis: What if Carly's bad boy didn't collect Pee-Wee Babies and they continued dating? A bad boy like Griffin might want to go faster than Carly's ready for. Then what will she do?
• Comments: A really good story about Carly going back out with Griffin, who tries to take things too quickly, with Freddie sitting and watching Carly get hurt. The ending is slightly abrupt, due to to it being left for a year or so before the author came back and completed it, but it still works.

Beneath the Pale Moonlight by sockstar

• Status: Dormant
• Pairing(s): Starts with Freddie/OC (the only major OC for the story so far), but has very strong Carly/Freddie and Freddie/Sam threads through the story, as well as giving Freddie his own circle of male friends and using Spencer in a capacity that actually reflects his position as a parental figure.
• Synopsis: Hormones blaze. The battle to keep emotions in check rages every day. Carly, Freddie, and Sam deal with life, love, school, loneliness and hosting a webshow. A Freddie 1st person POV is maintained throughout.
• Comments: A nice take on Freddie's narrative as relationships with his female best friends evolve, as he struggles to stop himself from forming the same habits and emotions that caused a huge fight between himself and Carly. Also includes what would be a likely male circle of friends, namely the AV Club, with Shane, Gibby, Reuben and Geremy.

• Synopsis: Carly tries to save Freddie from Sam's abuse before it kills him.
• Comments: Another dark, violent and angsty fic. Carly hides her heartache when Freddie finally fell in love with Sam, but she can't bear seeing Freddie's suffering over the course of his relationship with Sam and decides to take action. A Deconstruction Fic of the Sam/Freddie relationship.

iOwe You My Life by wannabe1980

• Pairing(s): Carly/Freddie
• Synopsis: Based on iSaved Your Life. Will Carly finally see Freddie for the amazing guy he is? Or will she be distracted by a hot older guy pursuing her? Does Carly have real feelings for Freddie, or is it just gratitude for saving her?
• Comments: A very good fan adaptation on the main plot of iSaved Your Life with combinations of Creddie angst, romance, friendship and lemon. Carly's feelings for Freddie deepened after he had saved her life from an accident, but things get complicated when a football star and a mean girl get their eyes on Carly and Freddie respectively to be their partners for the Valentine's Dance.

iLost And Found by Snapplelinz

• Status: Complete
• Pairing(s) Sam/Freddie, Carly/Freddie.
• Synopsis: You're supposed to do certain things only once. You live once, you love once, you die once.
• Comments: This is an iCarly interpretation of the Bollywood film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. Sam, Carly, and Freddie become entangled in a love triangle as Carly falls for Freddie and Freddie falls for Sam (they eventually get married). Tragedy strikes during the birth of their (Freddie and Sam's) daughter. Nearly a decade later, their daughter promises to find the one woman who her father can fall in love with again. An extremely well-written story, both in storyline and descriptive language and is the longest Carly/Freddie fic on the site.
  • Progeny Ex Machina: To write a shipping fic without demonizing or murdering the "rival" party is a feat. To have the character initially be in a loving, successful relationship with the author's less-preferred pairing, and pull it off, is just amazing. Yes, Sam does die (it happens in the first chapter, so no spoiler tags for you), but it's handled very nicely in that eight years later, Freddie is still struggling to get over it, in contrast to the usual fare of "Oh, my wife is dead, now I can be with you!" The writing itself is great, don't get me wrong, but the ability of the author to focus so well on a ship they don't like was the biggest draw for me. This is ultimately a Creddie fic, but as a Seddist, I strongly recommend this to fans of both ships.

The Pact by purpleheart10.

• Pairing: Carly/Freddie.
• Synopsis: Carly and Freddie make a pact that when they're both still single when Carly reaches 26, they're going to marry each other.
• Comments: A long, multi-chapter story that starts when the trio are coming to the end of high school, and deals with life in college, and beyond into the real word. The feelings they both share for each other are deep, and this is portrayed very well here. They also act very believably, like all friends they go through periods of fighting and anguish, as well as pining over each other. Ongoing, recently updated Chapter 29.
  • Is a Dead Fic. Author has note saying they are on indefinite hiatus.
    • Not anymore. As of June 2013, the story is now complete.

The End of a Dream by Falling Further.

• Status: Dormant
• Pairing(s): One sided, unrequited love from Freddie towards Carly.
• Synopsis: Freddie forced to come to terms with something that he had been told many times. He refused to believe it for fear that his heart would break. Years after iCarly, school and college, Freddie has one last day to get through, still hiding his feelings for Carly.
• Comments: 2 things set this apart. The gorgeous and evocative language this story is written in, and the deep, heartbreaking way in which the author describes and reveals Freddie's feelings for Carly, as those feelings are strained and broken by the situation that Freddie faces. You'll probably want tissues, and try not wanting to reach through the screen and give Freddie a big hug.
  • Is probably a Dead Fic, not updated since late 2010.

Seventeen Again by Snapplelinz

• Pairing(s): Carly/Freddie
• Synopsis: Freddie and Carly are on the verge of getting a divorce when Freddie undergoes a certain 'change'. Can Freddie rectify his past mistakes and get his family back? Based on the movie, but with a Creddie twist.
• Comments: An complete and perfect adaptation of the film of the same name imbued with elements from the iCarly-verse. The main cast are written so well and behave very in-character even in adulthood. The hijinks of Freddie's alternate self to repair his dysfunctional family around the first half is pure hilarity which plummet into heartwarming dramatic scenes with Carly and their children as his identity is slowly revealed.

iGive and Take by CreddieShipper (Warnings: M - sexual situations, depictions of sexual acts.)

• Synopsis: What really happened between Carly and Freddie after Mrs.Benson left? Setting: 'iSaved Your Life.' Creddie lemon.
• Comments: A very well written Creddie lemon. This story is set during the commercial break and fills the missing minutes during Carly's 1st kiss with Freddie and when Mrs. Benson caught them. Remember the whole make-out scene that was claimed it lasted more than 5 minutes, and wondering what happened during the whole minutes between the kisses? Here's your answer. a hot, steaming nose-bleeding smile-inducing answer.

iHit The Open Road by PhunkyBrewster - Rated T, has some sexual situations.

• Synopsis: Carly is working herself to death in college. Freddie tries but fails to keep her spirits up. He decides on a whirlwind decision to visit Sam in Florida.
• Comments: The story weaves a Road Trip Romance with Freddie trying to get Carly to loosen up and adjust to college. It has an interesting twist in the middle and an unexpected but happy ending.

iCarly's Father by OneHorseShay (posted on their behalf by Snapplelinz)

• Pairing(s): Carly/Freddie, Brad/Sam.
• Synopsis: In the aftermath of Adam and Webicon, Freddie believes he's back to square one in his hopes to get back with Carly. However, a surprise visitor to the Shays may be Freddie's best ally or worst enemy on that quest.
• Comments: As the title suggests, Col. Steven Shay comes back to Seattle. Unlike many stories, he is not a tyrant or drunken abuser who abandoned his children. Instead, he is a very firm but loving parent. As his rank suggests he has a strong sense of personal justice for both his children and his friends and will not compromise on those beliefs. If you have ever wanted to see the behaviour of the iCarly characters put into an extremely well thought out Deconstruction Fic, this is the fic you should read. In a way, Col. Shay is a Fixer Sue, but remember that Tropes Are Not Bad and enjoy the way he shakes up the viewpoints of every character on the show. This is a Creddie story, but the utterly unique storyline and way that Col. Shay is handled make this an essential story for anyone who has had trouble believing the actions of the characters on the show.

Spam Fics

You're Afraid Of Bigfoot by sockstar.

• Synopsis: Spencer wants protection from Bigfoot. He also realises his desire to protect another.
• Comments: Roughly based from the episode, it tackles Spencer's perspective towards seeing his little sister and Freddie, as well as a good bonding with Sam during their stay in the woods. The fic has some mature connotations, but captures the humor and characterization between Sam and Spencer.
  • Is followed up with the Carly/Freddie side of the trip in You're Afraid Of Thunder.

Seddie Fics

• Synopsis: "I don't want your pity, Benson. Just your ham." Sam has a problem and Freddie cares more than he thought he would.
• Comments: A well done fic to put Freddie and Sam together, which manages to deal with Sam's home life a little bit to set up the situation.

Stairwells and Steering Wheels by Vix 23

• Synopsis: A series of conversations between Sam and Freddie taking place on or around stairwells and steering wheels as the dynamic of their friendship changes.
• Comments: A great story of the slow and sometimes awkward progression from friendship to something more (someone, please second this and leave a comment more relaxed and casual and all around better).

iWTF by White Knightro

• Synopsis: Freddie's conflicted take on the events of IOMG and iLost My Mind. Has Sam lost her mind? Would being crazy help at this point? You know how it ends, but how does Freddie get there?
• Comments: Not an original story, but it really gets into Freddie's head - and, because it uses a second-person viewpoint, you get very engrossed in his thoughts and feelings. It also has sister fics in Charlie Merrit's iFML, which tells the story from Sam's point of view and coiwy1's iLOL, which does the same from Gibby's. Both are also worth a read.

Up Close With Shelby Marx by Snapplelinz

• Synopsis: Carly has to improve her strength and conditioning to pass gym class. Who better to train her than Shelby.
• Comments: A really great story, pretty much the best for this minor pairing. The follow-up story First Time (Complete) expands the story as well. It also does something that's exceptionally rare for any femslash stories in this fandom, which is it explores how Freddie would feel about Carly being gay, and losing his shot with her.

iWould Have Pounded Him Silly by OneHorseShay (crossover with Victorious)

• Pairing(s): Cat/Freddie vs. Carly/Freddie
• Synopsis: Carly couldn't realize how one stray comment and misjudgment of Freddie would change both their lives. Now he strives for a better life while she fights for their friendship and maybe his love again. Post iPwV, leading to iOMG.
• Comments: A really great ongoing story with lot of potential, this fic explored the growing relationship between Cat and Freddie, as well as Carly's subsequent reaction to it. The author take a look at Carly's behaviour toward Freddie throughout the show (no character bashing intended). Currently under "Other Shipping" as it is unknown who he end up with.

iKnow You're Not Carly by OneHorseShay (crossover with Drake & Josh)

• Pairing(s): Megan/Freddie
• Synopsis: It was supposed to be a relaxing evening for two friends before Spring Break 2014, but relaxing is a relative term when one of those friends is identical in appearance to a past love for the other.
• Comments: This one-shot follows Megan and Freddie in their college years at UCLA. It does a good job of portraying both characters and in exploring Megan's feelings about possibly being second-best for Freddie.
