A page to list the recommendations for Date A Live fics. Tropers are free to add a fanfic of their own, but remember to use the template here.

Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page; that goes in the discussion page. No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Also, anything not mentioned in the three anime seasons (anything beyond Light Novel volume 12) should be mentioned with spoiler in mind.

General Fics

Date A Re:Live by Tohka Yatogami (TV Tropes Link here)

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: As the title suggests, it's an alternate universe take of the Date a Live story. Best summed up by the author themselves: Shido and Mana are amnesiac siblings living within the Itsuka household, a few details about the Spirits and their Angels are changed, the protagonists are considerably more competent while the antagonists are reasonably less effective, and both the visual novels and the game characters are/will be used.
  • Pairing: It will stay a harem, but the author acknowledges that Tohka will be in the lead.
  • Reviews for the fic: a fairly well done alternate universe take on Date a Live. Despite the constant minor typo and grammar issues, it is an engaging read for those who can handle the changes with patience, as it consistently introduces new factors that serve to enhance the original story instead of ruining it.

The Choices We Face by Chaos Kid 666

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: A Tohka-centric fanfiction where Tohka is a lot more angsty about her Inversion during the Tenou Festival, set right after the end of the anime. Tohka wonders why Kurumi (more or less) saved everyone during the conflict, and wishes to know why. Naturally, she jumps at the chance during their next encounter.
  • Reviews for the fic: a realistic What If? situation story, it has minor transition, grammar and sometimes inconsistent omniscient POV issues but are otherwise engaging to read, with twists and faithful characterization.

Broken Ice by The Green Spirit.

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: A very dark AU set some time after Origami's sealing in Volume 11, where Yoshino becomes a Broken Bird with serious Sanity Slippage after learning the true extent of the horrors that she pulled during the Tenou Festival due to Miku's control. Miku takes it to herself to try and fix things. Shido, Kotori, Tohka and Origami are Demoted to Extra, while Yamai sisters and Natsumi join in the insanity in later chapters.
  • Reviews for the fic: A fairly mature and realistic take on PTSD, and while it can be overblown at times it doesn't take away the realism out of it. The punctuation and grammar are not easy to read through but the content of the story can be worth it for those who like negativity.

Alternate Reincarnation by Cryocene (TV Tropes Link here)

  • Recommended by: Tohka-Yatogami.
  • Status: Dormant; last updated February 2020
  • Synopsis: A fanfic set some time after Volume 14's prologue, but before the DEM's attempt to capture Mukuro. The story focuses on the appearance of an alternate version of Rinne Sonogami who shares the same formerly human origin as the other Spirits, yet also possesses a strange connection with Shido that neither of them understand, leading to Rinne wanting to try and discover the truth.
  • Reviews for the fic: The alternate version of Rinne the story focuses around is well written, as is her and Shido's mysterious connection to each other. Its grammar and punctuation are are both really good, and the story has a somewhat slow, but still natural pace to it.

Go Home by MovieVillain

  • Recommended by: SnaxBox.
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: A short story that happened after the events of Volume 19.
  • Reviews for the fic.

Date A Live: Altered Timeline by Tohka Yatogami & kingpariah (AO3 Link here) (TV Tropes Link here)

  • Recommended by: Paleb05.
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: Just as a similar story is able to take its own path, a different story can follow an almost identical path. How will the original events of Date A Live go when the smallest of changes tells a different, yet nearly unchanged story? (Rewrite of Date A Re:Live)
  • Reviews for the fic: As it says in the synopsis, this is a rewritten version of Date A Re:Live, but there are differences right from the start to show that it will be a different story then what the original was.

Date a New Live by kingpariah & Tohka Yatogami (AO3 Link here)

  • Recommended by: Paleb05.
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Synopsis: As an Imperial Lord, I was no stranger to the Multiverse's complexity. I have traveled to countless worlds, either as a secret witness or a surprise faction. Even so, whether I observed or participated, the host universe always viewed me as an outsider. Not once did I think I could become a native. Especially when the life I was given wasn't my own.
  • Reviews for the fic: A very interesting fic with a very different Shido than canon, but the story has a sense of mystery about why he is so different.

Shipping Fics

Everdark by Sazuna.

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Originally designed to be a series of poems for Shido and Kurumi, it slowly becomes an overarching series of one-shots in the later chapters.
  • Reviews for the fic.
  • Now has a sequel - Foreverdark (Ongoing)

Separate by Charlotte Eraviel.

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: An alternate universe set after Miku's sealing, where Shiori Itsuka becomes her own person. She transfers into Raizen High and causes a fair amount of comedic and serious problem. The pairing is set between Shido x Shiori.
  • Reviews for the fic: Despite the comedic premise and (it indeed focuses on comedy in the first few chapters) Shiori's origin is constantly questioned by everyone, and unsolving it is one of the main drive of the plot. Its grammar and punctuation isn't too bad either.

Crossovers

Commandments of Capturing by Wrathie Winsre.

  • Recommended by: Cryocene.
  • Status: Hiatus
  • Synopsis: A crossover with The World God Only Knows, where the events of Date a Live and TWGOK happen in the same universe. Keima's sheer talent in conquering girls attracts the attention of Ratatoskr, who decides to hire him as an assistant for the Dating Sim strategy of Ratatoskr.
  • Reviews for the fic: An extremely well-written crossover. Not only the characterization is very close to canon, every single aspects of both universes are blended to form a new status quo: The Spirits are a powerful force of nature feared by humans and the Devils of New Hell alike, and Keima's hire by the Ratatoskr prompts the Devils to investigate into the Ratatoskr (and by extension, other Realizer-using factions like AST). This is a huge step ahead in comparison to typical crossover fanfic story.

The Divine Spirit by Ashen Messenger

  • Recommended by: Tsukiki
  • Crossover with: Persona Series

The King of Fakers does his best to be a good brother to Kotori and date Spirits to calm them down despite his complete denseness when it comes to women.
