Yu-Gi-Oh E-QUEST is a Crossover Fic between Yu-Gi-Oh!, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, and Teen Titans (2003) by Dakari-King Mykan. Even the girls enjoy playing the game of Duel Monsters, but they soon find they must participate in a Duel Tournament where they cannot afford to lose considering the many things at stake. Along the way, they must content (sic) with what the game brings— Change in attitudes, rival duelist, hard to control emotions, reasons why people duel— all these things that could really test their friendship. Sunset also begins to suspect that something evil may be afoot, an evil that can only be battled by the game!

Has a sequel entitled Yu-gi-oh E-Quest: Malefic Wars that picks off where the first story left off.

Yu-Gi-Oh E-Quest provides examples of:

  • Artistic License: In the initial version of Raven's duel against Fluttershy, Raven's finishing move was playing Reversal Quiz and chaining Poison of the Old Man to its activation, a move that is impossible in the actual game due to Reversal Quiz's activation cost sending all of the user's cards to the Graveyard (including Poison of the Old Man) before the window for chaining effects comes up. This was eventually changed to Raven setting Black Pendant and using the damage from that card to finish the Duel after Reversal Quiz resolves, which is not only legitimate but an actual gimmicky strategy.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Most duels involving Masquerade have him use an instant-win card loop while his opponent offers very little (if any) resistance.
  • Expy:
    • Masquerade is one to Count Logan, being a masked, villainous Beast Boy with a lot of emotional baggage.
    • Rubeus and Loki to Maximillion Pegasus, due to them being antagonistic corporate executives strong-arming Sunset and friends into their tournament by sealing away Twilight's soul.
  • Hijacked by Ganon: The story starts out as a straight crossover between Equestria Girls and Yu-Gi-Oh! However, the Teen Titans also get thrown in at the start of the tournament and derail the plot, with no foreshadowing or explanation. As a result, the seemingly new character Masquerade turns out to be Beast Boy invoked again. And he is also the final challenge for Sunset.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Masquerade hates bullies, despite being a huge one himself.
    • Claims that a real duelist doesn't settle things with their fists... and yet isn't above using cards that allow him to physically assault his opponent, as shown in his duel with Raven.
  • Informed Ability:
    • Masquerade is supposedly a great duelist, but most of his duels consist of using instant-win card loops involving cards banned in real life Yu-Gi-Oh! tournaments and anime-exclusive cards and effects.
    • invokedWord of God claims that Beast Boy has two small technological electrodes underneath his mask that renders him undetectable by all electronic equipment and impervious to certain kinds of magic and energy, which in turn prevent his identity from being exposed... and yet his mask gets taken off by a strong gust of wind.
  • Jerkass: Masquerade. Nearly every time he appears, he's either belittling or insulting somebody. In the HuMane 7's case, it's because he hates friendship and wants to prove to them that it's "worthless".
  • SNK Boss: In his first Duel, Masquerade runs a Manticore Loop FTK deck, which allows him to effortlessly complete Exodia on his first turn. The linchpin card of that deck is banned in real life specifically because of such overpowered, un-interactive strategies. Thankfully, the tournament's rules forbid instant-win cards, meaning he has to actually play fair, for a given measure of "fair".
  • Unusual Euphemism: Masquerade has a truly bizarre vocabulary.
    • He uses "jailbait" to refer to Sunset and the rest of the HuMane 7's status as inexperienced duelists.
    • When confronted with several dangerous traps in the virtual world, he dismisses all of them as "baby food".
