When Hailey Met Gretel is a story by Owenfan01 a crossover between Hamster & Gretel & Hailey's On It!.

During another typical day in Oceanview, Hailey Banks meets a man who offers her fro-yo from his cart, but who ends up gassing her. She wakes up and finds the purple clad man knows of her list and plans to hold her prisoner to prevent her from finishing it, then swoop in and save the day himself as part of a scheme to Take Over the World. As luck would have it, a teenager has arrived in town to collect some comics from Scott, and just happens to have a younger sister and pet who are superheroes, who may end up saving the day...

This story contains examples of:

  • Acting Unnatural: The Hailey robot , which makes it even stranger that no one, save Beta, suspected anything.
  • Big Bad: Professor Exclamation, one of Hamster & Gretel's regular enemies, is the one responsible for kidnapping Hailey.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just when it looks like Hamster & Gretel are going to be destroyed, Hailey, Scott & Beta unplug the device that is keeping them immobilized.
  • Blatant Lies: After Hamster & Gretel's identities are revealed, Kevin remembers that Beta claimed moments earlier he was a sophisticated AI from the future and asks him to repeat himself; Beta immediately denies he ever said that.
  • Bond One-Liner: Discussed by Scott when they are trying to disable Professor Exclamation's giant radar dish and suggests that Hailey do one, feeling the situation calls for it. Eventually, she does.
  • Bound and Gagged: Hailey spends most of the story like this.
  • Brick Joke: The letters from one of Gretel's "(insert word) punch!" end up hanging in the air, (as they do on her show), when in Hailey's room. Later, after rescuing Hailey, Gretel mentions the letters are still there, to Hailey's surprise.
  • The Cameo: Kristine appears in Chapter 3, recognizing Kevin from his viral videos from his series.
    • Fred appears via phone in the fifth chapter to use her computer skills to help the gang locate Hailey. Word of God is, if there's a sequel, both will be more prominent.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Kristine recognizes Kevin from his embarrassing "Balloon Boy" viral video ("Recipe for Disaster") and his "Opposite of Smart" videos ("The Opposite of Smart")
    • Gretel doesn't want Kevin to be interviewed by Kristine, as she is still wary of online influencers due to her encounter with Belle in "For Whom the Belle Trolls."
  • Contrived Coincidence: The fact that Kevin drove all the way from wherever it is he lives to California just to get some comics. Gretel actually points this out, noting he could have them mailed, but Kevin felt they were too valuable for that.
    • The fact that the last of said comics Scott wanted to sell to Kevin happened to be located in Hailey's room, allowing the Hamster & Gretel cast the chance to meet Beta, which eventually leads to them setting out to rescue her.
    • Someone somehow learning about Hailey's list and putting the info on the Internet, allowing Professor Exclamation to learn of her and set in motion the whole story.
  • Defiant Captive: Hailey spends the early part of her captivity insulting her captor and trying to convince him to let her go.
  • Everything Is Racist: After being told about Hailey, Kevin suggests that maybe she was kidnapped by a robot that was sent back in time by a super computer that enslaved the entire human race. Beta immediately dismisses that claim and the assumption that all computers from the future are evil and claims Kevin is "robotist" (racist against machines) which he insists is a thing.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: When Professor Exclamation introduces himself to Hailey, he tries to cap off his introduction with a dramatic sting, only for his robot aide Tobor to fail to activate it in time, thereby ruining his whole evil entrance.
  • Famed In-Story: Due to his past viral videos, Kristine manages to recognize Kevin soon after meeting him and wants to interview him for her channel.
  • Fantastically Indifferent / Seen It All: zig zagged- Hailey has seen a lot of weird stuff in her dealings with the future, so she's not too surprised to find a young girl superhero rescuing her, though she is surprised to find she's from the present. However, the talking hamster is a bit of a shock.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Gretel becomes one to Hailey after learning about her list and eventually saving the future. As she points out to Kevin, she only saves their city, but Hailey is going to save the entire world and do it without superpowers.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: After Hailey is surprised to hear Hamster talk, Gretel tells her that "you get used to him after awhile"; Hamster replies by telling her to not act like he isn't there.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: After realizing whoever kidnapped Hailey has the ability to create lifelike robots, Beta comments they must be as smart as he is, then changes his mind and claims otherwise.
  • Knockout Gas: Used to capture Hailey, when she goes digging in a fro-yo cart.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Several times, most notably when Gretel wonders why they had to drive all the way to California for comics instead of just having them mailed.
    • The Hailey characters wonder how the letters from Gretel's various "(insert word) punch!" manage to stay up in the air.
  • Mundane Solution: To stop Professor Exclamation's giant radar dish beam, Hailey and company simply unplug it.
  • Not Worth Killing: Well, not "kill" exactly, but after Hailey escapes his clutches, Professor Exclamation sees no need to recapture her, figuring she can't stop his plan now anyway. He turns out to be very wrong.
  • Off with His Head!: The Hailey robot is defeated when Gretel punches its head off.
  • Parrot Expo-WHAT?: When Beta identifies a time glitch, Kevin immediately asks "time what now?"
  • Phlebotinum Breakdown: Normally, Beta would find where Hailey was taken by scanning for the frequency from her bracelet, but that was being blocked due to Professor Exclamation.
  • Race Against the Clock: The gang have 15 minutes to rescue Hailey and have her finish an item on her list, or a permanent time glitch will occur.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Who found out about Hailey's list and posted it on the Internet?
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Professor Exclamation makes one of Hailey to distract her friends from coming to look for her; it works up until it encounters Beta, who can immediately tell it's a fake.
  • Secret-Keeper: Hailey and crew become one for Gretel & Hamster after learning their secret identities.
  • Shout-Out: Kevin's theory on who could've kidnapped Hailey is based on The Terminator.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Hailey is telling Professor Exclamation how she's confident that Scott & Beta will come to save her since they care about her, she also adds that it's in a totally platonic way and she doesn't have feelings for Scott and is ''so glad'' he is dating Kristine.
    • After Gretel transforms to stop the Hailey robot she immediately returns to normal and tries to pass off her superhero alter ego as someone else. Beta isn't fooled.
  • Tempting Fate: After Professor Exclamation refuses to let Gretel leave with Hailey, she asks him "you and what army?" is going to stop her, before a bunch of his robots come in. Gretel immediately realizes she shouldn't have said that.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: None of the Hamster & Gretel cast find Beta all that strange, simply assuming he's some kind of talking toy, even after he addresses Scott directly and talks about things they don't understand.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Like normal, Professor Exclamation had no problem trying to destroy Gretel.
  • You Monster!: Hailey uses this word for word after realizing Professor Exclamation used fro-yo to trick her.
