A year after Maligula's defeat, Raz has been balancing his life as both a Psychonaut and acrobat. But he's attracted the attention of someone else. After some hurtful words, the Psychonauts are on the receiving end of his powers, both old and new. Why would Raz betray them? And what will it take to bring him back? Sometimes the people you love are those who hurt you the most.

- Armor-Piercing Response: When Donatella confronts Dion about his treatment of Raz, Dion questions why she's taking Raz's side since they both dislike physics. Donatella's response forces him to think.Donatella: "And I am trying to do better. You are not."
- Death Glare: Donatella has a frighting one.
- Good Cop/Bad Cop: Truman really wanted to do this with Hollis when trying to get information on the Order of the Wave from Gristol. Hollis shoots him down.
- Homeschooled Kids: The Aquato kids were this due to their lifestyle.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: For whatever reason, Raz remembers nothing about his life once the others find him in the cult.

- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Even though Hollis never gave them the authorization for a mission, Milla and Sasha don't even think twice before joining Lili, Frazie and Dion on a rescue mission once they figure out where Raz is.

- The story begins a year after the end of Psychonauts 2.
- Chapter 6, apply titled "Three Weeks" has three one week time skips, going over the group's efforts to find Raz and how everyone is coping with his disappearance.
- Ungrateful Bastard: After Dion screws up during an act and Raz uses his powers to catch him, Dion only cares that Raz caused someone in the audience to accuse them of being fake.
- Villain Has a Point: Dion is pissed when realizes that Noah has a point that he didn't act like a brother to Raz.
- Villains Out Shopping: As it turns out, Gristol loved seeing the younger Augustus perform in the circus.
- Why Didn't I Think of That?: Sasha curses himself once he realizes that they could have used Raz's goggles to find a connection to him.
- Wise Beyond Their Years: Donatella and Frazie both note that the nine year old Tala is better at discussing relationships than they are.
