Fanfic / Hazbin Hero

Go To

Hazbin Hero is a crossover between My Hero Academia and Hellaverse by Mrotrax on Fanfiction Dot Net.

All his life, Izuku Midoriya has been looked down upon and treated like garbage because everyone thinks he's Quirkless. But it turns out he does have a Quirk, and a powerful one... it just doesn't work on Earth. Only in Hell. Where his half-sister Charlie Magne lives, who wants to rehabilitate Sinners to Heaven with her hotel. Despite not being able to use his Quirk on Earth and what everyone tells him, Izuku still wants to be a Hero. So out of boredom and interests, the all-powerful Radio Demon makes a deal with Izuku, allowing him to use his Quirk on Earth and finally fulfill his dream and become a Hero, with his dotting big sister Charlie supporting him all the way.

This fic displays examples of:

  • Abusive Parent:
    • Lucifer is something of a complicated example, still caring for Izuku in his own unorthodox ways despite conceiving him only as a tool to enact his plans with and never even showing up to raise Izuku.
    • Played straight with Shinso's father, who muzzled his own son while he was eight years old.
  • Adaptational Job Change: Inko works as a model along with Mitsuki instead of being a stay-at-home mom.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Izuku ends his friendship with Bakugo after finding out that his old childhood friend had nothing but contempt for him.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Shinso implies that he has feelings for Denki Kaminari while having a conversation with him and Izuku during lunch.
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Izuku is reduced to tears after he finds out that Bakugo never cared for him thanks to his newly-awakened demonic powers allowing him to detect the sinful thoughts of other people.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Charlie and Izuku are some of the nicest people you'll ever know... and are also capable of throwing hands with Overlords if the need arises.
  • Big Sister Instinct: Charlie is highly protective of Izuku and will do anything to make sure he's safe, even if it means sending IMP to assassinate anyone who wronged him.
  • Big Sister Worship: Izuku outright calls Charlie his hero in this story.
  • Birds of a Feather: Izuku, Shinso, and Todoroki strike up a friendship by bonding over how each of them had to deal with less-than-stellar fathers in their life.
  • Crossover: In addition to linking Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss to My Hero Academia, the BPRD from Hellboy are implied to also exist in this universe.
  • Crossover Relatives: Izuku is Charlie's half-brother since Lucifer conceived him through Inko Midoriya.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Izuku wants to be a true hero in spite of his half-demon heritage.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: Lucifer is disappointed by that the cultists who kidnapped Inko to summon him did not have any plan in mind for their ritual, resulting in him sending them to Hell for their troubles.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Izuku is just as much of an All-Loving Hero as his half-sister Charlie, but he has nothing but hate towards Valentino and Seviathan.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Mineta may be a massive pervert, but he would rather have sex with a woman via actual consent rather than rape them. He also has zero tolerance for Monoma's attempt at belittling Izuku because he's not a person who would belittle the person who saved the lives of him and his classmates at the USJ.
    • One and Two of DHORKS joined up with the League of Villains to catch and/or kill Izuku mainly because they thought Izuku was a dangerous demon. But once several of the thugs plan to rape the female students, they quickly kill the villains and even attempt to aid Eraserhead against Nomu.
    • Alastor is ashamed of himself for ditching Izuku's tacky hero costume when he learns Inko made it for her son. He's also hates the V's for hyperfocusing on the "servitude" part of their Overlord duties at the expense of all else.
    • Practically no one in Shiketsu likes Bakugo due to his history as a bully and his egotistical behavior. Most tellingly, Seiji Shishikura, himself a Jerkass in his own right with his overly strict view on being a hero, finds Bakugo a disgrace to the concept of heroism since he's practically a Villain in denial over his cruel actions.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Bakugo is given a restraining order by the cops after the bullying he did to Izuku comes to light and sent off to Shiketsu in the hope that its military-style discipline will help him learn some much-needed humility.
    • Stella being caught and tortured by Lucifer causes Striker to redirect his efforts towards attacking Izuku as revenge for losing his primary employer.
  • Gayngster: In his life as a human, Angel Dust was an openly gay mobster who was also a member of the Meta Liberation Army's American branch that specialized in guerilla warfare thanks to his Quirk allowing him to hide and grow limbs on the fly.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Monoma is so jealous of 1-A's success that Izuku can clearly see the envy radiating off of him without even needing to remove his visor.
  • God Is Evil: God wants everyone to worship him and follow his rules, even if it means letting the masses suffer.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: As much of a jerk Lucifer is towards Inko in their conversation, he isn't wrong on how Inko coddled Izuku by shielding him from the world's darker side and never gave her son the proper support he needed when everyone mocked his dreams.
  • I Have No Son!: Inko's parents disowned her after she got impregnated by Lucifer. They end up dying not too long after.
  • Legacy Character: Bee is the daughter of the original Beelzebub here.
  • Mama Bear: Inko will do anything to protect her son, be it telling off the literal King of Hell or mobilizing her wealth to drop the hammer on abusive school staff, and may God help you if you earn her ire.
  • My Beloved Smother: Inko alone smothered Izuku since he the day he was born. However, Charlie is just as doting (if not worse) as Inko towards her little brother, and she's VERY protective of him, to the point of hiring I.M.P. to assassinate all of her baby brother's tormentors at Aldera Junior High (both students and staff), with Katsuki being at the top of list.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Masaru and Mitsuki Bakugo are horrified to find out that their son, Katsuki, had been bullying Izuku for years under their noses while they were none the wiser about his behavior.
  • Named In The Adaptation: Angel Dust's real name is Anthony Arakniss.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Izuku goes to town on the Nomu Shigaraki brought to the USJ by using it as an outlet for all the pent-up frustration and hate he had towards everyone who bullied him.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Charlie sending IMP after Bakugo and all the people who bullied Izuku is one given how in most circumstances, she wouldn't even think about hurting a fly, signaling just how angry she is at Bakugo for crushing her baby brother's dreams so cruelly.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Lucifer subjects Katie Killjoy to some Cold-Blooded Torture in response to her causing trouble for Charlie and Izuku during Charlie's interview, which, while normally horrifying, is mitigated by the fact that Katie is a massive Jerkass with an equally large ego to boot.
  • Pet the Dog: Lucifer has several of these moments:
    • He's never attempted to create an Antichrist without his beloved Lilith's consent.
    • He makes sure Inko is financially well-off in order to support herself and Izuku. It's also implied he killed Inko's parents in order to make sure she'd be okay and not be cut off from any family inheritance.
    • While he doesn't always agree with their goals and even mocks them, he lets his children try their own thing.
  • Rage Against the Heavens: Izuku decides that if God is so willing to let multitudes of innocents suffer for the sins of a few horrible people, then he'll make sure to be a hero so great and beloved that He will wish Izuku was the true Antichrist after he realizes that God is an absolute jackass while he was praying to Him for solace.
Izuku: (internally) So you really do punish the many for the actions of a few?! I-is that why Hell is so full? So few are good enough? Well, not everyone is made equal! And this pain? What... what kind of parent allows that? I thought that you were a forgiving deity, but I've met SINNERS with more kindness and understanding than you! So much sinners are a deed or two off being normal. Fine, so many more truly evil and awful are there, but... Vaggie-nee was forced into her way of life for crying out loud! So many Sinners didn't have much choice, and even when they did...! Well... fine then. You, Allah, or whoever's up there? Never hear from me. I will be a hero on my own and become so great you WISH I was the true Antichrist. I WILL help Charlie-nee prove redemption after death is possible, and when that moment comes? YOU will have to admit that you were wrong. You will admit you're NOT perfect. I thought all people, regardless of whatever they believed, were your children. If this is how you treat your children? No wonder the universe is so fucked up. (glares at the crucifix of Jesus) Your death was in vain.
  • Really Gets Around: Lucifer has sired at least 64 children in his attempts to create the perfect Antichrist to carry out his plans with.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Izuku uses his power as the crown prince of Hell to clean up Pentagram City and provide help for those who just arrived in Hell, such as putting up signs to guide newcomers to the Hazbin Hotel and other safe areas of Pentagram City along with cracking down on Vox and Valentino's criminal activities.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Ibara Shiozaki overhears Izuku's Rage Against the Heavens speech, and sees he's burning in her father's church. Word of God states that she will not immediately assume he's evil.
  • Shout-Out: The Antichrist Wax Museum has plenty for notable half-demon hybrids in culture.
    • Damien Thorne from The Omen is listed as the most successful Antichrist for playing everyone like fiddles before he was stabbed in a church and stuck as a cripple hooked up to life support.
    • Woland from Mikhail Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita has a statue in the museum for the legacy he left behind despite his mysterious origins.
    • Adolf Hitler is listed among the Antichrists for his horrific actions in life and the fact that he was possessed by a demon long enough for him to be counted as part-demon.
    • Adrian, also known as the main subject of Rosemary's Baby, died rather unceremoniously in a gang shootout.
    • Hellboy has a statue for his good deeds in life as a BPRD agent safeguarding the world from supernatural threats.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
    • Izuku tears Valentino a new one by telling the pimp how much he despises him for his cruelty before pointing out that the contract Valentino signed with Angel Dust wasn't done with the Overlord's actual name from his time as a human, thereby making any claim he has towards Angel null and void.
    • When the Overlords complain to Lucifer about how Izuku is interfering with their business, he bluntly states that they only have their positions because he needs them to establish a semblance of order in Hell. Outside of that, they are very much disposable given that Hell's purpose is to punish sinners for their deeds in life, which includes that of the Overlords.
    • Bakugo gets a brutal shakedown courtesy of Izuku on how he's nothing more than an Entitled Bastard lashing out at the world for any perceived slight without regard for those he hurts.
    • After Lucifer catches wind of Stella's hamfisted power plays, he tells the Goetia noblewoman that the only reason she was married to Stolas was to give him an heir to continue his bloodline with and has no greater purpose beyond that.
  • Trickster Mentor: Word of God states that Alastor will be one for Izuku as he learns to harness his demonic powers.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: God decides to keep an eye of Izuku after hearing his rant against Him if only to make sure that Izuku isn't a threat to His reign.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Charlie gets raked over the coals for hiring IMP to murder Bakugo and all the people who tormented Izuku, being told that even if she was doing this out of love for her sibling, having assassins murder people willy-nilly is a step too far.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Inko reassures Izuku that he can and will be a great hero despite his flaws after he found out that Charlie had sent IMP after all the people that tormented him.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Izuku is shocked that he can detect Mineta's lust even with the visor he wears to keep his sin-detecting ability under control.
  • You Remind Me of X:
    • Izuku ends up reminding Aizawa of his old friend Oboro Shirakumo with his earnest desire to help others.
    • The sheer amount of envy that Monoma radiates causes Izuku to compare the 1-B student to Leviathan in terms of pure pettiness.
