Fan nicknames in My Hero Academia.

  • "The Absolute Madman" for Midoriya, due to his feats as the manga progresses. He's also earned the title "Broccoli" or "Green Bean" for his hairstyle and hair color.
  • Midoriya has also earned the affectionate nickname "Baby Superman", as well as "Cinnamon Roll".
  • "Super Saiyan Green" has also been used for Midoriya when he activates 100% Full Cowl during his fight with Overhaul. His hair becomes a lighter shade of green while standing on end, his body emanates green electricity arcs and an aura. Also, he flies by kicking off the air, which is made more explicit in the anime. Making the nickname even more fitting is how Dragon Ball Super has multiple different hair colors to clarify powers.
  • "Frog Girl" for Tsuyu Asui for obvious reasons.
  • "Grape Boy" (sometimes spelled "Grape Boi"), or simply "Grapes" for Mineta. In the Western fandom, he's also frequently referred to as "Grape Gremlin", "Diaper Baby", "Diaper Gremlin", "Rat Boy" or "Rat Bitch" (and variations thereof), due to his short height and (in the eyes of some fans), his annoying nature, or "The Grapist", referencing a The Whitest Kids U' Know sketch.
  • "Daft Punk" is one for Sero, due to the helmet on his hero uniform looking similar to the head of one of the two robots from the band Daft Punk. Alternatively, it could be "Tape Punk," alluding to both his Quirk and said Daft Punk reference. There's also "Captain Office Supplies".
  • Due to Tenya's family name being occasionally being misspelled as "Lida" by some English speaking fans, some fans jokingly call him Linda in response to this.
  • "Handyman" or "Facepalm-kun" (which eventually became canon, or close enough, when Mimic calls Shigaraki "facepalm guy" during Overhaul's first meeting with the League of Villains) for Shigaraki, because of his many hands, or "Man-Child" because of his personality. Eventually, he also got "Shiggy". There's also "Bad Touch Man" as inspired by Jello Apocalypse. "Shigaraki Jr." came about following the reveal that "Shigaraki" is All For One's last name that he passed on to Tomura when he first took him in. Likewise, All For One has occasionally been referred to as "Shigaraki Sr." And “ShigAfO” for All for One trying to fuse with Shigaraki.
  • "Chocobro" for Tokoyami, due to the bird-like appearance he and his Living Shadow have, as well as for his performance in the Cavalry Battle. • "Sadrock" for Koda due to his generally nervous expressions and having a rock-like appearance.
  • Bakugo receives quite a bit, mostly focusing on his explosion power. Some names include "Edgeplosion", "Firecracker", and "Bomberman," as well as "Blasty McSplode" and "Sparky Sparky Boom Boy". "Trash King" is a popular one among both his fans and detractors as well as "Gremlin". A more affectionate nickname is "Angry Pomeranian" or simply "Pomeranian", referencing his temper and his spiky blond hair.
  • "FireIce" , “Half and Half” and "Icyhot" for Todoroki. In the official English dub, the latter became an Ascended Fan Nickname as Bakugo dubs Todoroki "Icyhot" very often when they're onscreen together, starting from the U.A. Sports Festival Arc.
  • Todoroki is also called 'Ice Zuko', as they're both fire-using kids with abusive fathers and absent mothers, and each have a large scar over their eye from a traumatic incident with a parent, and both have serious attitudes and oppose the main protagonists before they get sense beaten into them. It's entirely coincidental, but still uncanny.
  • "Alien Queen" for Ashido, as a loving nod to her original choice for a hero name.
  • "Deep Dope" for Jiro, after some particularly memetic shirts she's often seen wearing with the phrase on them.
  • "No Might" or "Small Might" for All Might's weakened form and "Dad Might" due to his being the Team Dad, particularly in regards to Midoriya. All Might himself is sometimes called "Oru Maito", jokingly refer to the Japanese pronunciation of the name.
  • "Insaniac" for Stain.
  • Kaminari got saddled with the nickname "Traitor-Kun" due to the fan theory that he's been in league with Shigaraki. A more affectionate and popular one is "Human Pikachu", because of the obvious similarities such as the golden hair with black streaks, their supernatural powers being to aimlessly discharge static electricity, their default cheerful personality, and et cetera. More prosaically, he may also be nicknamed "Zap Zap" or "Zapper" due to his electric powers.
  • One of the background heroes named Snipe is "McCree" due to them being uncannily similar.note

  • "Broji" for Shoji, sometimes known as "Octobro" as well, due to his accomplishments in aiding Midoriya during the Forest Training Camp Arc.
  • Eri is "Rewind Loli" because of her Quirk or "Backpack Loli" due to the scene where she holds on to Midoriya's back while constantly rewinding his injuries, allowing him to use One For All Full Cowling 100%.
  • "Bakugo Protection Squad" the name given to the group made up of Midoriya, Shoji, Tokoyami and Todoroki in order to protect Bakugo in the Training Camp Arc.
  • In a similar vein to "Dad Might", you can encounter "Dadzawa", "Dad Mic", "Dad Gum", and "Dad King/Vlad Dad" (Aizawa, Present Mic, Fat Gum, and Vlad King, respectively).
  • "You Can't Run" for All For One's Leitmotif, "The Power of All For One", as the song feels like an antithesis to the uplifting "You Say Run" or "Jet Set Run".
  • "AFO" and "OFA" for All For One and One For All, respectively, as the fandom tend to resort to these acronyms whenever they come up in lengthy discussions rather than spell them out in full over and over again.
