The twenty seventh instalment of the Power Rangers Redverse written by Mad Red X 12, a adaptation of the actual Power Rangers S.P.D.. Set centuries after the defeat of Venjix, Earth has finally evolved into a utopia for humans and aliens alike. However, even in a time of peace, evil still lurks. The evil Troobian Empire sets its sights on Earth, with its de facto leader Emperor Grumm having a personal judge against the planet. However, where there is yang there is yin, and a galaxywide police force known as Space Patrol Delta assembles together to stop them. From their Delta Bases stationed across the galaxy, S.P.D fights to ensure peace and defeat the Troobian Empire.
The series focuses on the S.P.D. of Corinth (which is now the capital city of Earth) and specifically their B-Squad. As their name indicates, they're backup to the elite A-Squad. At first, B-Squad consists of the serious Sky, who wants nothing more than to be a Red Ranger just like his missing father, the unusual yet intelligent Bridge, the glamorous Syd and the rebellious Z. When A-Squad is forced to leave the planet on business and then mysteriously disappears without a trace, B-Squad are promoted to Ranger status and given morphers, as well as a first mission - track down a metahuman Robin Hood-like mass thief and burglar.
During their first mission, they are engaged by the Krybots, the Mooks of the Troobian Empire, and morph for the first time. Sky finds that he's been assigned the powers of the team's Blue Ranger, much to his chagrin. They wind up being saved by the thief they sent after, who after getting injured in the process is revealed to be Z's ex-husband Jack Landors, who after their nasty divorce returned to the streets where they had once lived and took up thieving to survive. Despite Z's objections, Sky arrests Jack and takes him to HQ's brig.
While B-Squad are on their second mission, a much more dangerous one involving a proton accelerator that the Troobians are trying to use to create a black hole to destroy Earth, Jack easily escapes his cell, but gets recaptured when he stops to help scientist Kat Manx and her long-suffering assistant Boom stop an out-of-control escaped criminal. However, the base's commander, Doggie Crueger, becomes impressed with Jack's willingness to help people and hands him a strange metal box, telling him to head to help B-Squad, who are getting their asses kicked by a full Troobian force. When Jack arrives, he winds up pulling a fifth Morpher out of the box and morphing into the B-Squad Red Ranger - something Sky is NOT happy with.
With Jack put in the squad, B-Squad is assigned to serve as Earth's main S.P.D. Ranger force while the A-Squad is missing. With tensions running high and nerves frayed, they must work together to become a tight unit, all the while dealing with their own questions, such as their mysterious genetic abilities. Over time, they acquire new assistance on the battlefield, new foes to battle against, and begin to understand the past of the Troobian Empire, and a conspiracy among the alien forces that threatens Earth and possibly the entire universe.
S.P.D. B-Squad Rangers:
Their Allies are:
And they're up against:
Recurring Power Rangers Redverse Tropes:
- Aliens Speaking English: Averted on two occasions to facilitate a Curse of Babel plot.
- Thememobile:
- Cool Car: The Machine Dingo and Delta Cruiser.
- Cool Bike: The Omega and Nova Rangers' Uniforce Cycles and the Patrol Cycles used by the Red, Blue and Green B-Squad Rangers. Notably, Sky's is an older, less powerful model with a different design, leading him to complain when Jack and Bridge get new bikes and he doesn't (Kat just points out that he already has a bike).
- Awesome Personnel Carrier: The S.W.A.T. Truck.
- Guns Akimbo: Jack's Delta Blasters.
- Space Police: They're not called Space Patrol Delta for no reason.
Tropes specific to SPD:
- Aerith and Bob: Bridge stands out next to names like Jack and Sam.
- Aura Vision: One of Bridge's Psychic Powers, and the one that's used the most throughout the series.
- Barrier Warrior: Sky's genetic power.
- Darker and Edgier:
- As opposed to in the original, where criminals were ranked in the level of danger by how many planets they had destroyed (which was only an Informed Attribute in the series), here the criminals the B-Squad Rangers fight against are wanted for much more down-to-Earth and realistic crimes. For emphasis, the very first of the criminals encountered is wanted for homicide of a child.
- In reference to Dekaranger, the Rangers are allowed to execute criminals should their morpher's Judgement rule 3 Xs (1 X means physical arrest, and 2Xs, which most criminals get, is the Containment Card), although a lot of emphasis is put upon this practise being a last resort against the most dangerous criminals who are Beyond Redemption (or those who have committed homicide in a Ranger's line-of-sight).
- Humans Advance Swiftly: Or should we say, Humans EVOLVE Swiftly. By the 45th Century, humanity has become borderline Transhuman - life-spans of around 500 years, car-crash-proof bodies, electricity resistance, Hyper-Awareness, radiation-resistant skin, unbreakable Heroic Willpower, a additional heart and fast-clotting blood, a miniaturised secondary brain that takes care of basic biological function allowing humans to use 90% of Your Brain when needed, marginally greater physical strength (with the ability to consciously turn on Uninhibited Muscle Power) and a new organ called the Thynane that acts as an internal Magical Defibrillator.
- Intangible Man: Jack's genetic power.
- Material Mimicry: Syd's genetic power.
- Me's a Crowd: Z's genetic power.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Jack and Sky, respectively.
- Shout-Out: The SPD Ranger Directives are directly inspired by the Anti-Bioron Law from Kidou Keiji Jiban, which were in turn inspired by the Prime Directives from Robocop (although the Ranger Directives have more in common with the former than the latter, giving the Rangers greater freedom to act rather than restricting them).
