Darth Wiki / Fanfiction Orochi

Go To

Fanfiction Orochi is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover fanfic based on the Warriors Orochi series. The story begins similarly to the first game, with the Demon King Orochi fusing worlds and time periods together, but in this version, he doesn’t stop at the Three Kingdoms and Sengoku periods, and pulls in many other settings, from different games, anime, films, notorious fanfics, and even some more contemporary real life figures. The plot itself is split into four separate stories, each one following a different team as they fight through the fused world, recruiting allies and facing off with Orochi’s army, and even other forces. The teams in the stories are:

Each story has 8 chapters, each chapter focusing on a single battle the team partakes in as they move to fulfill their own objectives, meeting new allies as they do.

Tropes that feature throughout Fanfiction Orochi

  • Adaptational Badass: Since the story is mainly based on a Koei Warriors game, this is a given for everyone.
  • Adaptational Dumbass: Played for laughs with Ma Chao in Team Chaos’s story. In a parody of a scene from Dynasty Warriors 8, he is easily convinced to defect to the Obviously Evil Team Chaos because of Cloud 2 saying that Pandora is seeking out her own brand of justice.
  • Adolf Hitlarious: Team Angle assault the Führerbunker in their fifth chapter, leading to a battle heavily inspired by the Hitler Rants.
  • Artistic License – Geography: Invoked throughout. For example, Scotland Yard is actually in Scotland, and Team Layton have to fight through the A1 to get there after The Battle of London. Many locations are also much closer together than they are in reality, such as Team Dark having a non-eventful walk from New York’s Statue of Liberty to China’s Fan Castle. This is justified as a result of Orochi’s fusing of multiple worlds screwing with the geography.
  • Author Appeal: A given for a story like this. The author freely admits that the premise is completely ridiculous and written more for himself than anything.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Night Yagami pulls this off at Fan Castle, arriving just in time having finished an experimental rain potion she was working on in the first chapter, using it to bring about a water attack that catches Jin off guard.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Happens in two separate instances.
    • The Sailor Senshi get brainwashed by Mao Zedong, becoming the Sailor Communists who help him fight for Orochi.
    • In Team Chaos’s story, Cia utilises a brainwashing spell to get Matt and Roger to join them.
  • Colour Coded Armies: The faction listing of each chapter lists the factions with a colour to indicate their role.
    • The protagonists are always the blue faction.
    • The enemy force is red.
    • If there’s a faction allied to the protagonists, they’re green.
    • A yellow faction may be hostile to everyone else, or an ally to the red faction.
  • The Devil Is a Loser: Downplayed in Team Dark’s story when Puyo Puyo’s Satan joins them. While his fighting style is more comedic than the other members of the team, and his dialogue more childish than most other characters, he ends up as more of a Bunny-Ears Lawyer, and is quite helpful for the team.
  • The Dividual: A pair of Pokémon Trainers, Gary Oak and Green appear, and for both of them, they and their Pokémon are treated as single units on the roster. Davis Motomiya and Veemon get similar treatment, sharing their slot on the story’s roster.
  • 11th-Hour Ranger: Every team gets two final recruits after their seventh chapter.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: Happens in the seventh chapter of two different stories.
    • For Team Layton, they encounter the Grimleal trying to revive Grima. While this succeeds, it turns out Grima is too much of an Omnicidal Maniac to care about who brought him back, and quickly becomes just as much of a danger to them as he is to the heroes.
    • Played with in Team Chaos’s story, they find Darkman and Yuga working to revive Ganon. When Ganon is brought back, Zant also turns against Team Chaos to join his master. Yuga later fuses himself with Ganon, and reveals he was using Darkman as a pawn for this purpose, and doesn’t even know who Zant is, turning against both of them.
  • Evil Knockoff: The Captain N versions of Pit and Simon Belmont are treated as this towards the canon versions.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Team Chaos is a group filled with villainous characters, however they still oppose Orochi, mainly because his antics are getting in the way of their own plans.
  • The Klan: Played with. There is a group called the KKK, and they wear the traditional costumes, but this group is actually the Kool Kokaine Krew, a group of cocaine addicts who spread their habit violently.
  • The Load: Sara Osborne is this to Team Angle, often getting them into trouble, and generally contributing a lot less than everyone else.
  • Mêlée à Trois: Happens frequently throughout, for various reasons. Every chapter has the factions involved listed, and given colour coding in the style of the Musou and Fire Emblem games.
  • Mythology Gag
    • During the Battle of Fan Castle, Sima Zhao and Ma Chao are shown to get along during mid-battle dialogue as a nod to their roles as protagonists in Warriors Orochi 3.
    • When Team Angle end up encountering the Oda Nobunaga from the Basara universe, he entitles himself as the Devil King, which was his name in the Devil Kings localisation of the first Basara game.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Averted. Real life figures appear at points, and some do indeed get harmed.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted. There are three different characters named Cloud, two of whom are even part of the same team. To avoid confusion, only Cloud Angle is frequently referred to by his first name. Cloud Strafe and Cloud Angelos are usually referred to by their surnames. There are also two Oda Nobunagas, the version from Samurai Warriors, and the version from Sengoku Basara. The latter is mostly referred to by the title of Devil King.
  • Protect This House: Chapter 1 of Team Dark’s story has them defend the Yagami House from the first demon attack.
  • Simultaneous Arcs: All the stories are implied to be taking place across the same time frame, with some cases of continuity popping in, such as how both Team Angle and Team Layton have a battle at Honnoji, the former as their second chapter, and the latter as their fourth, leading to Team Layton entering Honnoji after it’s been heavily damaged by a fire attack in the former battle.
  • Those Wacky Nazis: Chapter 5 of Team Angle’s story sees them as the enemy, with Hitler himself as the commander.
  • Token Good Teammate: Ma Chao becomes this for Team Chaos, as detailed in the above entry for Adaptional Dumbass.
  • Unknown Rival: Yami Ninji is this towards Davis. Since the latter was pulled from a world where the Cyborg Davis fanfic didn’t happen, he has no idea who Yami Ninji is, or what he’s talking about.
  • Unstoppable Mailman: Postman Pat joins Team Angle early on, and fights alongside them in search of Akechi Mitsuhide, whom he’s delivering a letter for.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Quite a few chapters have a one shot antagonist who is last seen running off after getting their ass kicked, and they aren’t seen again.
