Full Plot Synopsis (Incomplete, May change)

Chapter 0/Prologue

The story opens with two women, Taylor "Tay" Washington and Ji-Yung Min discussing a game called Flowers of the Frozen Lands. While Ji-Yung spends the discussion fangirling over the game, Tay has her doubts and notes that all of the main love interests appear to be yanderes. Ji-Yung gets defensive, saying it's just a game. Tay leaves to go to work, while Ji-Yung logs onto a fan blog to find an anonymous user who posts a mysterious ritual online, claiming it can send you to a world of your choice and have you replace any character you want. Ji-Yung decides to perform the ritual for fun, believing that it's a joke, but panics when the ritual starts to work. Suddenly Tay comes back in the middle of the ritual, saying she accidentally left her phone. This causes the ritual to pull both her and Ji-Yung into the world of the game.

Chapter 1

Tay wakes up as Morgana Vera Hyacinthus in the duchy of Hyacinthus. Initially confused, she accidentally disintegrates one of the chairs in her room before a maid gives her a pair of enchanted gloves and reminds her of her "condition". She wanders around the manor for a while before running into her brother Ruel Ezra Hyacinthus VII. He expresses worry over her strange behavior and asks her if it's because of "that girl" Astellia who she ran into at her debutante ball. Morgana remembers that Astellia Galanthus is the main character of the game so she sets up a meeting with her at a tea party to find answers.

Chapter 2

Morgana and Astellia meet at the party. Morgana realizes that Ji-Yung has become the heroine of the game. Astellia recognizes her friend and becomes excited at the prospect of being in her favorite game. Morgana warns her that it's not just a game anymore but Astellia brushes her off. She tells Morgana that they need to maintain the veneer that everything is fine while they figure out how to go home, so Astellia suggests that keep acting like they are the characters. She tells Morgana that she is in the role of the villainess. Morgana has had a lifelong dream of becoming a princess by any means necessary, so she needs to play the role of a jealous haughty noblewoman. Morgana reluctantly agrees.

Chapter 3

Morgana and Astellia meet again at the Festival of Solstices hosted by the royal family of the Empire of Saintia. Morgana is initially friendly and cordial but they end up having a crowd of nobility watching them, so Astellia reminds her to start acting. She manages to do a decent job fooling the audience but then a member of the royal family approaches to stop the "conflict." Astellia tells her that it is probably the emperor only to be corrected when the first love interest, Crown Prince Silas Eroel Narcissus shows up instead. Prince Silas is very hostile to Morgana, even subtly insulting her intelligence so Morgana responds with more hostility which is OOC for her character. Astellia manages to break up the conflict and everyone goes home for the day.

Chapter 4

They return to the Festival of Solstices the next day and Morgana and Astellia meet up again in secret. Astellia fills her in on more of the plot and what she knows - she notes that there is a hidden love interest/final villain type character but never managed to finish his route. They continue talking until another love interest Leyric Antirrha forces them out into the open. The conflict causes a nearby building under construction to become unstable. It starts to fall apart and a beam almost pins Astellia; Morgana pushes her out of the way in time, another OOC moment for Morgana.

Every love interest, save for Hyun-Su who hasn't appeared yet, arrives at the scene. They begin questioning people to see what happened, and the Crown Prince accuses Morgana of setting this up to hurt Astellia. Astellia comes to Morgana's defense, however, saying that he should be rewarding Morgana for saving her life. Other witnesses pipe up in support of Astellia and Morgana. Leyric reminds Silas of "that place" and he decides to grant Morgana's wish of being a princess by giving her the Principality of Belothamenz. Astellia pulls her aside and tells her that the Principality is a notorious money sink and is on the verge of anarchy - this plot point originally didn't happen until the tail end of the game. Morgana has effectively been reassigned to Antarctica.

Chapter 5

A few weeks later, Morgana sets off for Belothamenz. The Crown Prince appoints Kenan Sudic Asteraceae, the second love interest of the game and the recently appointed governor of a duchy in the north that sits on the edge of the Creeping Frost. Morgana expresses unease around the Duke and Ruel's attempts to reassure her fall flat, so he decides to go with her. They leave but are ambushed by a band of thieves near a military outpost called Khogod. Morgana notes that the group was too organized to be rogues; she expresses concern that they may have been hired to harm her. Ruel acknowledges these concerns but tells her not to say anything to Kenan.

Chapter 6

Halfway through the journey, Morgana is told that it's iceberg season so they'll have to make the rest of the journey over land, but this gives her more reason to suspect that someone is trying to off her. Being in the north they switch to using vehicles called vauplesleds. note  On their way across the tundra they are attacked once again, this time by a horde of Frostbeasts, non-sentient creatures generated by the Creeping Frost. Kenan's knights begin to fight them along with Ruel, which leaves Morgana completely unprotected. One Frostbeast manages to break through the crowd and approaches her. However, Morgana's mysterious powers activate again not only making the Frostbeasts non-hostile but also making them retreat.

Chapter 7

Kenan is suspicious of Morgana, interrogating her about the Frostbeast encounter. Ruel comes to her defense and cites all the suspicious activity surrounding their journey. Kenan reluctantly backs off, but decides to station extra bodyguards around her. This prevents her from investigating

     Tropes present in both
  • Advancing Wall of Doom: The Creeping Frost as this, slowly pushing civilization further and further towards the equator. Thus far, attempts to fight it have only been able to halt its progress. This is why the Heroine became so important, as her ability to fight the Creeping Frost back meant an end to the Creeping Frost.
  • The Chosen One: This is Astellia's role as the prophesied Saintess destined to destroy the Creeping Frost. Her magic allows to make the Creeping Frost recede as well as grow plants under any conditions, anywhere she needs to. While it's true that she's the Chosen One, there's more to the prophesy than just that.
  • Functional Magic: Magic in Myria is mainly theurgic and partially inherent. People are born with the ability to use minor forms of magic and can unlock their true potential by making deals with a supernatural being (the type of being doesn't matter as long as it has magic). In addition, spells follow the rules of Vancian Magic, with some beings giving access to certain spells w/o need for preparation, or others giving bigger "inventories" for prepped spells.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: The Forgotten Ones are a group of eldritch beings intent on having their way with Myria at the expense of its inhabitants so the gods had to lock them away in the Creeping Frost. Some of them break free in both the original game and in the new timeline with Tay and Ji-Yung.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: At the end of the original game, Morgana would be banished to the Principality of Belothamenz which had recently become a vassal state of the Empire of Saintia. However, in the original game, she was just banished there and then took over the territory for Farrow, while Tay!Morgana was given the principality as a "reward."
  • Religion is Magic: The primary way to get magic (or more magic) in Myria is by making a Soulbond with a divine being. The Soulbond doesn't need to be made with a god, but this is considered unconventional in some places and heresy in others (like the Empire of Saintia).
Tropes from the original game/Flowers of the Frozen Lands

The original game (Flowers of the Frozen Lands) provides examples of:

  • Alpha Bitch: OG!Morgana was the medieval fantasy equivalent of this, maintaining an iron fist over the royal court of Saintia. She would end up ousted from her position by her lady-in-waiting Susanne Mathilda Typha.
  • Backstabbing the Alpha Bitch: As mentioned above Lady Susanne Typha would end up contributing to OG!Morgana's downfall after months of escalating emotional abuse.
  • Glacial Apocalypse: The Creeping Frost is a magically induced ice age that threatens to plunge the world of Myria into an icy doom. This is actually a lie; the Creeping Frost was meant to serve as a containing agent for the even worse threat of the Forgotten Ones.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: The original game would let you name the Heroine whatever you liked and even let you choose the name of your house but if you didn't do either, her name would default to Astellia Galanthus.
  • Multiple Endings: This being a romance/otome game, there were multiple endings present, each dependent on how successful the heroine was in romancing her designated love interest and defeating the Creeping Frost (which includes defeating Farrow and Morgana).
    • The True Ending: The Heroine succeeds in destroying the Creeping Frost and has reached an affection level of at least 75% with a love interest. This was portrayed as a Golden Ending but the love interest would be completely obsessed with the Heroine by this point, which would leave her either dead, trapped in a gilded cage, or worse. Meanwhile, the destruction of the Creeping Frost leads to the release of the Forgotten Ones who attack the world unimpeded due to the Heroine being unable to stop them. Also counts as a Happy Ending Override.
    • The Wilted Love Ending: The Heroine succeeds in destroying the Creeping Frost, but did not successfully romance any of the love interests. Without them to stop her, she can deal with the Forgotten Ones without being obstructed but this would be a very uphill battle for her since Morgana and Farrow would be dead in this ending.
    • The Frozen Petals Ending: The Heroine does not destroy the Creeping Frost but successfully romanced a love interest. Due to the Heroine being incapacitated by the love interest (who would have made a deal with Farrow to be left alone) the Creeping Frost consumes the entire planet, killing everyone and everything except the Heroine, her love interest, Farrow, and Morgana.
    • The Barren Wastelands Ending: The Heroine has not only failed to stop the Creeping Frost but has also failed to romance any of the love interests. The Heroine ultimately lives a short brutal life being tormented by Morgana and Farrow and dies alone without a penny to her name. In the original game, it was easy to build up affection with the love interests so it would take either a really dedicated or really bad player to get this ending.
    • The Bloodied Garden Ending: This is a secret ending that can only be obtained if the Heroine attempts to romance every love interest including Farrow and reaches an affection level of at least 75% with all of them. Silas will go into a fit of rage upon seeing the Heroine interact with all of the other love interests and will promptly attack, creating a six-way battle that kills everyone involved. Ironically the best ending, due to being an inverted Esoteric Happy Ending that solves the problem of the love interests and the Creeping Frost without releasing the Forgotten Ones.
  • Royal School: The Heroine is sent to Klealerra, Royal Institutes of Magics and Sorcery which is notable because women are rarely ever permitted to attend the academy. Morgana and Astellia are two of only 14 girls in the entire school, with only 192 students in total.
  • Stock Shoujo Heroine: Astellia is a Deconstructed version of this, being naïve and clumsy, but sweet, full of zest, and in the wrong genre. It's hard for her to maintain that shiny personality when the world is in constant danger of icy destruction.
  • Stock Shoujo Bullying Tactics: Morgana's harassment of Astellia amounts to stealing her school materials, cornering and insulting her, forcing the entire class to ignore her during meal times, and spreading harmful rumors about her.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Pretty much all of OG!Morgana's schemes are plots to get her father's approval, most prominently her plan to become the Empress of Saintia so her father would have no choice but to pay attention to her. Later on, she would stop caring about his approval entirely, and switched to getting his attention by any means necessary.
Tropes from All Yanderes Must Die!

This work provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Played straight with Ji-Yung whom Tay refers to as Jiji multiple times in the story. Taylor has been called Tay since she was a child and practically everyone calls her that, to the point where she introduces herself as Tay to Kaltain when they realize that she's an Otherworlder.
  • Black and Nerdy: Tay takes great joy in working out the magic system of the world of Myria, and is Black British.
  • Chariot Pulled by Cats: On their way to Belothamenz, Tay!Morgana and her convoy have to use vauplesleds. These are covered sleighs the size of a train car with two small rooms pulled by a team of Fenris-bears.note
  • Childhood Friends: Tay and Ji-Yung have been friends since they were babies - they were even born in the same hospital albeit several months apart.
  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: Tay and Ji-Yung think Media Transmigration is at play first until they realize that the original Astellia and Morgana are now in their bodies in their original world.
  • Kicked Upstairs: When Morgana is given the Principality of Belothamenz as a "reward" for saving Astellia. The territory is infamous for being a den of anarchy and corruption, so the expectation is that Morgana will have an unfortunate accident or simply remain miserable and destitute for the rest of her life since she can't give the gift away.
  • Lady of War: Tay!Morgana learns to use her abilities for fighting while also being Princess Regnant of Belothamenz.
  • Politically-Active Princess: Tay!Morgana is much more interested in living up to her role as a ruler, quickly reforming the whole of Belothamenz rule as well as establishing a more diplomatic relationship with the Dark Elves.
  • The Pollyanna: OG!Astellia is desperately trying to be this, but the Trauma Conga Line of being stalked/harassed by five different men in addition to having to adjust to a world wildly different from her own takes its toll on her mental health. She and Yuka agree to switch back, which helps stabilize them a bit.
  • Princesses Rule: Tay!Morgana is the monarch of Belothamenz and handles pretty much all of the administrative duties that come with it in addition to being a genius engineer.
  • Stations of the Canon: Morgana going to Belothamenz happens much earlier in the plot than it does in the original game due to Tay!Morgana's interference.
  • Winter Royal Lady: Tay!Morgana becomes this after becoming Princess of Belothamenz and awakening her powers as the Warden of the Creeping Frost.
