Wolf Martin Garber (May 18, 1922 – October 17, 2019), known by the stage name Bill Macy, was an American actor. He worked for years as a taxi driver in his nativenote Brooklyn, New York before finding success as an actor. In the cast of the Broadway erotic revue Oh! Calcutta!, he also recorded with P.D.Q. Bach, the alter ego of that show’s coauthor, Peter Schickele. Macy found fame in The '70s sitcom Maude as Walter Findlay from 1972 to 1978, and in the movie The Jerk.
Macy was married to Samantha Harper. While the similarity in name has caused some confusion, he is not at all related to William H. Macy, who’s a Macy by birth.
