Bill & Ted Save The Universe is Boom! Studios' third comic series based on the Bill & Ted franchise. It follows the previous year's Bill & Ted Go To Hell.It's a five-issue series written by Brian Joines and drawn by Bachan in 2017.

Bill & Ted Save The Universe has examples of ;

  • Action Girl: Sheena is fairly good at kicking ass or getting "her Ellen Ripley on" as Rufus puts it.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Played straight with no mentioned Translator Microbes.
  • Aliens Steal Cable: The boys' mothers have been spreading Wyld Stallyns' music throughout the universe.
  • Anal Probing: Bill's worried about this happening when they get beamed aboard Glurm's ship.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Death brings the personification of Fate as his date to the anniversary party.
  • Ascended Extra: Ted's brother, Deacon from the first movie has a much larger role here.
  • Batman Cold Open: Two of them;
    • Starts on the planet Bolgrev with the boys' mothers in spacesuits blasting Wyld Stallyns' music to calm warring aliens.
    • The next page has Bill, Ted and Bram Stoker running from Vlad the Impaler.
  • Big Red Button: Ted presses one on Glurm's ship because they can't think of anything else that would help and Bill reasons that in movies it's only bad for the owner of the ship. It ends up cutting the engines.
  • Book Ends: The series starts and ends with Wyld Stallyns' music being played on the planet Bolgrev.
  • Burger Fool: Captain Logan Implied Ted worked at the Zyggie' Piggy before Wyld Stallyns took off, saying he'd still be working there if it wasn't for the princesses.
  • Came Back Strong: When Glurm rebuilds the good robots, he hoped their structural integrity so they'd be harder to damage.
  • Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality: When trying to find a way into space to help the boys, Elizabeth says she heard of an alien called Gordon living with a family in San Fernando.
  • Combat Tentacles: Glurm has several black ones that come out from his chest.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Brenda Preston says they should use their teleporter to make money from space tourism.
  • Cyclops: A few one-eyed aliens are seen.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: The moms were contacted by Deacon from the future who sent them on a quest to bring peace to the universe with Wyld Stallyns'music.
  • Deflector Shields: The moms' spaceship can use a forcefield to keep air around itself so it's possible to have a picnic on the roof.
  • Extra Eyes: We see a few aliens with three or four eyes.
  • Falling Chandelier of Doom: Bill and Ted defeat Vlad the Impaler by going back in time and loosening one.
  • Fantastic Nature Reserve: One of the challenges the Grand Cosmic Council makes the duo go through is facing cyberwasps from the Robot Zoo Planet.p
  • The Federation: The Grand Cosmic Council.
  • Fish People: An alien on the bridge of Bill and Ted's moms' ship looks like a hammerhead shark.
  • Forged Message: Captain Logan writes fake letters and postcards to the boys from their moms and sends them to foreign police stations, asking for them to be posted back.
  • Forgotten Phlebotinum: The boys solve their problems by building an interstellar teleporter but Bill & Ted Go To Hell showed that the phonebooth can teleport interstellar distances.
  • Future Badass: The man who sent the moms on their quest was a time displaced Deacon from the future.
  • Gargle Blaster: Bill''s mom won't let his dad join the Council's party because most of the alcohol would kill him.
  • Grand Theft Me: Glurm possesses Deaco and control the princesses and De Nomolos.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: Sheena is a green-skinned one.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Deacon persuades Glurm to turn good at the end.
  • Hologram: Bill and Ted are able to send projections of themselves from space l to communicate with their families on Earth.
  • MacGyvering: Bill and Ted quickly build guitars out of the Council's other traps in order to use The Power of Rock to calm the chrondolyk.
  • Missing Mom: A rare instance of the Bill & Ted franchise explaining what happened to the boys' mothers. They were travelling the universe spreading Wyld Stallyns' music.
  • Multicultural Alien Planet: Bolgrev has two completely different looking races.
  • Multiple Head Case A turtle alien on the bridge of Bill and Ted's moms' ship has three purple heads.
  • Omnibus: The Bill & Ted Omnibus collects this with Bill & Ted's Most Triumphant Return and Bill & Ted Go To Hell.
  • Plant Aliens: Ted's mom is dating one.
  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: For a rare Buddy Picture series that usually averts this trope, Bill and Ted finally fall out when they can't agree whether to take their families on tour in space or abandon the tour and stay with them in Earth.
  • Pointy Ears: Sheena has them even when disguised as a human.
  • The Power of Rock;
    • Wyld Stallyns music brings peace to whatever planet it's played on.
    • The moms have worked out how to power their spaceship with music and Wyld Stallyns' music is "so rocking" that they can outrun other ships.
    • The boys play rock music in order to calm the Chrondolyke.
  • P.O.V. Sequel: We see a flashback of Deacon watching the Battle Of The Bands form Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey on TV.
  • Quantum Mechanics Can Do Anything: Hyepbetl-138 is protected by a "Quantum Singularity" that blocks time travel, stopping the boys' Retroactive Preparation.
  • Retroactive Preparation;
    • The boys defeat Vlad by going back in time and loosening a chandelier he walks under.
    • They intend to go back and leave laser cannons for them to face the Chrondolyke but it doesn't work and Ted guesses something's disrupting time and space.
  • Space Police: Private Glurm works as one, chasing criminals for the Grand Cosmic Council.
  • Space Station: Hyepbetl-138 is the home base of the Grand Cosmic Council.
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: Deacon's annoyed that he works hard but Bill and Ted can stumble into success while barely trying.
  • Surprise Party: The shenanigans with Vlad the Impaler were all to trick the boys into getting to a surprise party to celebrate the anniversary of their passing the history exam.
  • Take That!: The Chrondolyke says that if Wyld Stallyns weren't talented, he would have ate them like he did with Ohio Express 20 years before.
  • Teleportation: The problem on whether to go on tour or stay with their families is solved by converting Glurm's particle transmission scrambler into an interstellar teleporter.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Glurm is defeated when he possesses Bill's dad and can't handle his depression.
  • Tractor Beam: How the boys, Rufus and Sheena get pulled aboard Glurm's ship.
  • Writers Cannot Do Math: The usual "Thinking Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure took place in 1989 even though it was set in 1988" is back with them having a party in 1994 to celebrate the five year anniversary of them passing their history exam.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Station, the good robots and Captain Logan were both dead in Bill & Ted Go To Hell but are alive again here.
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: At the Council's party, Bill and Ted surf on a small black hole in front of a cheering crowd.
