    Valerie McKee
Played by: Jamie Lee Money
Valerie is the daughter of Valentine McKee and Rhonda LeBeck, and working as an intern at the Arctic research station when the newest batch of Graboids attack.
  • Action Girl: Very much so, as she was raised to be proficient in firearms, in order to protect herself against Graboids.
  • Ancestral Name: Downplayed. She doesn't share her father's exact name, but they're both nicknamed "Val", and she does continue his legacy in fighting Graboids.
  • Badass Bookworm: Inherited her mother's smarts and her father's Combat Pragmatist tendencies.
  • Brainy Brunette: She's an intelligent brunette girl, with a lot of knowledge about the Graboids especially.
  • Covert Pervert: She uses her sniper scope to spy on Hart while he's urinating and makes an appreciative remark to Vargas about his impressive size.
  • Friendly Sniper: Valerie is a kind-hearted Perpetual Smiler and likes to hug people. She has a lot of knowledge about the best way of zeroing rifle scopes, helps kill Graboids endangering her friends, and boasts that she can drop an elk at 800 yards. Valerie's friendliness is also emphasized by her banter with Vargas, who serves as her spotter, between shots.
  • Legacy Character: The second Val McKee in the films, she's the daughter of Valentine "Val" McKee from the first film. Like her father, she prefers to go by "Val".
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Valerie is an avid hunter who field dresses her own prey and wears clothing with the name of sports teams. She has encyclopedic knowledge of both weaponry and Graboids, but she also wears a noticeable amount of makeup and jewelry.
  • Who You Gonna Call?: Quickly calls Burt and Travis to help with the infestation.

    Hart Hansen
Played by: Kiroshan Naidoo
A geomorphology researcher at the Arctic research station.
  • Alliterative Name: They both start with H.
  • Bigger Is Better in Bed: Val (who peeks at him peeing with her sniper rifle) is very impressed by what she sees, telling Vargas "that boy got game".
  • The Big Guy: He's the most athletic looking of the group, although fairly even-tempered and repeatedly is able to outrun Graboids for brief stretches.
  • Chekhov's Hobby: Hart is fond of operating a model control plane, which is later used to deliver a bomb to destroy the captured Graboid before DARPA can confiscate it.

    Aklark
Played by: Keeno Lee Hector
A local who works as Rita's assistant.
  • Badass Native: Aklark is a First Nations member who manages to take out one of the Graboid tentacles with an ancestral club.

    Swackhammer
Played by: Rob Van Vuuren
The manager of the Arctic research station.
  • Fluffy the Terrible: He names one of the attacking graboids "Sally" after a "soul-smashing" ex.
  • Mr. Fixit: He's the engineer and mechanic who does stuff like keep the bases generator running.
  • Retired Badass: Swackahmmer wears dog tags, implying he's ex-military. He also gets pretty bold throwing homemade grenades at the Graboids and tries to take a machete to one of the tentacles.
  • Team Chef: Swackhammer is seen cooking for the others.

    Mac
Played by: Adrienne Pearce
The local bush pilot.

    Rita Simms
Played by: Tanya van Graan
The lead scientist at the Arctic research station.

    Cutts
Played By: Paul Du Toit
The head of a nearby DARPA outpost.
  • Big Brother Is Watching: Agent Cutts displays an eerie knowledge of Burt's psychiatric profile and tax status within moments of meeting him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Cutts is introduced as an abrasive, shifty government agent suspected of bio-engineering Graboids as weapons. Then it turns out that he has nothing to do with the Graboids and is in the Arctic trying to find a way to harvest Arctic ice to decrease the risks of global warming and provide a bigger supply of drinking water. He also is outraged when his best scientist is eaten by a Graboid and sets out to seek revenge and help the trapped heroes. Then he admits that he is interested in using Graboids as bio-weapons now that Burt has suggested it and cowardly kicks away one of his men who grabs at Cutts for help while being dragged to his death.
  • The Men in Black: Cutts is a shifty government agent who wears Sinister Shades and all-black winter clothing. Mac even name-drops the trope while observing him.

    Vargas
Played By: Christine Peruso
A geothermal technician at Rita's scientific outpost.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: She's introduced pitching horseshoes while waiting for the Graboid hunters to arrive and remove the threat to the station.
  • Non-Action Guy: Vargas lacks the weapons skills of most protagonists, although she acts as a spotter for rifle shots and plane flights.
  • Oral Fixation: Vargas is seen absently putting a paper clip in her mouth in several early scenes.

    Dr. Charles Ferezze
A researcher on Rita's team.
  • Dirty Coward: Ferezze is a fidgety man who is (understandably, at first) desperate to flee the area before the Graboids and Ass Blasters can come back and goes to increasingly pathetic and self-serving lengths to do no matter who it endangers.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: The research community seems pretty close-knit for the most part but everyone treats Ferezze with more familiarity than friendliness. His personality makes it easy to see why.
  • Pronouncing My Name for You: Multiple characters mispronounce his name as "Freeze" (or something similar), and he tends to correct them in an ugly tone of voice.

    Dr. D.
Played By: Jay Antsey
The doctor at Rita's outpost.
  • Brainy Brunette: Dr. D is a dark-haired woman who makes some new discoveries about Graboid biology.
  • Forgotten Fallen Friend: She's devoured by a Graboid, despite a desperate attempt to save her, and then is never mentioned again.
  • The Medic: Dr. D diagnoses and operates on Burt after he collapses from a parasitic infestation.
  • Ms. Exposition: Dr. D is the one to explain how Burt has been poisoned by chemicals from a Graboid's stomach and needs to capture a live specimen for them to find a cure.
  • Only Known by Initials: Dr. D's full name is never mentioned.
