The short film

Too Many Cooks being a long-runner which plot rests upon a Dark Secret, it casted many actors across the years, some of them even taking different roles in the sub-series.
    Darren Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_8.png
Played by: Ken DeLozier
The father of The Cook Family.
  • All Just a Dream: Apparently, Darren is being hospitalized for a disease called "Intronitis", which causes him to imagine his life as a stereotypical sitcom theme song.
  • Good Parents: Darren is an overall ideal upstanding father to the Cook family.
  • Polyamory: Darren is married to Claire but also romantically and sexually involved with Sasha.
  • Running Gag: A recurring joke involved with him is that he's always trying to take family photos on a camera timer but can't make it to the couch in time to be in the picture, himself.
  • Standard '50s Father: Darren is portrayed as this, just being an average father in a cheesy old-timey sitcom.
    Claire Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_2_5.png
Played by: Tara Ochs
The mother of The Cook Family.
  • Finger Wag: Gave Harry this, when he was playing with his food.
  • Good Parents: Despite making a few mistakes, such as overcooking the food in the oven, Claire is an overall, wonderful and loving mom, who provides for her family and wants the best for everyone she loves.
  • Lethal Chef: Overcooked the cookies she was making in the oven.
  • Meaningful Name: Her last name being "Cook" is a joke on how she was cooking food in the oven.
  • Polyamory: She's married to Darren but also romantically and sexually involved with T.L., which is part of her relationship.
    Chloe Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_3_9.png
Played by: Katelyn Nacon
The preteen daughter of The Cook Family.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Rested her head on her fist and made an exasperated face at grandma during the Roseanne table scene.
  • Stopped Caring: She threw in the towel really quickly when her family was trying to move the couch.
    Harry Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_31.png
Played by: Justin Scott
The preteen son of The Cook Family.
  • Lovable Jock: Seems like a typical jock archetype as he was seen lifting weights and winning a karate trophy, but is overall a very bright and kind-hearted guy as he's never demonstrated any signs of stupidity or rudeness, sans that one time he played with his food at the table.
    Savannah Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmcs_4.png
Played by: Morgan Burch
The child daughter of The Cook Family.
  • Always Second Best: It's implied that she feels inferior to her older sister, Melinda.
  • Book Smart: Savannah is shown to read several different textbooks on all kinds of subjects, many of which are presumably related to her school subjects, though one could argue that she also reads books just for fun.
  • Child Prodigy: As is a common trope in many sitcom families, Savannah is one of the youngest members of the family but she's also the one characterized as the most scholarly and well-educated of the other kids.
  • Cute Bookworm: The adorable little girl, who is very well-read, as her desk is shown to be tiled with educational books of all kinds.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: It seems that poor Savannah is always being overlooked by everyone around her because of her hotter older sister, Melinda.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Savannah wears glasses, presumably to help her with reading.
    Veronica Van Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmcooks.png
Played by: Linda Miller
The grandmother of The Cook Family.
    Jenny Cook
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmcooks_8.png
Played by: Layla & Lila Neal
The baby daughter of The Cook Family.
  • The Cutie: As a baby, there's not much she can really do for the family aside from looking adorable.
    Taylor Cook
Played by: Truman Orr
The baby of The Cook Family.
  • And Starring: Got this treatment in the theme song, with "And Featuring: Truman Orr as Taylor Cook".
    • In fact, he's one of the few characters in the show to actually have his name mentioned on screen, besides just his actor.
  • The Cutie: His role is to just be the adorable one in the show.
    Olivia Cook
Played by: Jayla James
The other daughter of The Cook Family, who plays baseball.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: She's a girl who's clearly really into baseball, as seen by how she wears a baseball cap and has a baseball and glove in her room.
    Warren Cook
Played by: Cameron Markeles
The other son of The Cook Family, who is a kid scientist.
  • Butt-Monkey: Gets bullied by his mean older brother, Jim, who gives him noogies for being so smart.
  • Child Prodigy: He's a young kid, who's into science, as seen by how he wears a labcoat and goggles and plays with beekers and bottles.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: His scientist look wouldn't be complete without them.
    Jim Cook
Played by: Zack Shires
The big mean older brother, who always causes trouble.
  • Big Brother Bully: Jim is a big jerk, who's always picking on Warren and giving him noogies.
    Armondo Del Cook
Played by: Gwydion Lashlee-Walton
The cool older brother of The Cook Family.
  • Aerith and Bob: Part of the reason his character sticks out so much is how he's got such a long and cool sounding name, especially when compared to his siblings with their basic names (Olivia, Warren, and Jim).
    • To boot, his actor has also got an unusual name, "Gwydion Lashlee-Walton", which just sounds so epic as well.
  • Cool Kid-and-Loser Friendship: The cool older brother to his loser brother, Warren.
    Zoe Cook
Played by: Ginny Gibbons
Another baby girl in The Cook Family.
  • The Cutie: Just another adorable little baby girl.
    Dave and Thomas Van Cook
Played by: Dylan Schoenthal (Dave) and Logan Schoenthal (Thomas)
Twin boys.
  • Aerith and Bob: Again, we have a joke with one of the twins having the basic name of Dylan and the other being named Thomas Van Cook, just to make him stand out more.
    Grammy Cook
Played by: Barbara Bruce
The grandmother who reads magazines.
  • Expy: Pretty much the exact same archetype as Veronica Van Cook. She was even seen sitting in the same chair and reading the same magazine about magazines.
    Sasha Cook
Played by: Mary McGahren
Another mother in The Cook Family.
  • Polyamory: Is sexually active with Darren Cook, the husband of Claire Cook but it seems that Claire is aware of this and doesn't care, especially since she's active with T.L. from the office.
    • It's also suggested that she's married to T.L., making their polyamorous relationship come full circle.
    Smarf
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_5.png
Played by:' Smarf
A stupid-looking pet cat puppet in the family.
  • Series Mascot: It's obvious that Smarf is meant to be this.
  • Team Pet: Supposedly the pet cat of the family.
  • Token Non-Human: Was the only character in the show to not be a human being, until later on.
    Cooks
Played by: Ricky Boynton (Cody), VC Fuqua (Logan), Nilsa Castro (Melissa), and Gregory Rose (Caleb)
Four chefs who work as actual cooks.
  • One-Steve Limit: Slightly broken. The cooks include a woman named Melissa when there's already a character named Melinda.
  • Pun: The fact that they're cooks is a joke on how they're associated with The Cook Family.
  • Supreme Chef: They're all implied to be excellent cooks.
  • Token Minority: Cody Cook is the token black guy and Melissa Cook is the token Hispanic woman.
    Chris Cook
Played by: Will Dove
A perverted teenager who spies on women changing
  • All Men Are Perverts: Chris is basically your typical perverted man, just completely unbound by the obedience of laws, privacy, or basic human decency, allowing him to be so brazen that he just waltzes on up to a girl's bedroom and looks directly at her naked, as though there shouldn't be a problem.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Assuming all of the Cooks are part of the same family, Chris is likely taking sexual pleasure from his own blood-related sister or cousin.
  • The Peeping Tom: The opening shows him watching Marilyn naked in her room.
    Marilyn Cook
Played by: Victoria Sun
A topless girl who always goes around naked.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: Assuming all of the Cooks are from the same family, Marilyn is likely being spied on by a biological relative, who could very well be her immediate brother.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Marilyn is a beautiful and attractive blonde-haired woman, who wears a cute little ponytail, some short-cut ripped-up denim jeans, and absolutely nothing on top. Needless to say, she's the fan favorite of a lot of viewers for her character's attire.
  • Scenery Censor: Always has her left arm covering her boobs.
  • Toplessness from the Back: In the last frame of the credits, Marilyn was seen topless from the back.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Always walks around completely topless, even when she's in public situations like playing games with her family. Everyone around her just treats her like this is completely normal and doesn't even acknowledge it.
    T.L. Cook
Played by: Marc Farley
A fat guy who works at an office.
  • Polyamory: He's sexually active with married woman, Claire Cook and Darren is well aware of this but doesn't seem to care, mostly because he's also in a side-relationship with Sasha.
    • It's also suggested that he's married to Sasha, himself, which brings their polyamorous marriage full circle.
    Archer Cook
Played by: Charles Pittard
The angry boss at the office complex.
  • Mean Boss: A hot-headed, loud-mouthed angry boss, who's always screaming at T.L. and dropping piles of files on him to take care of, having little to no consideration to him and his feelings.
    Aimee Cook
Played by: Karen Cassidy
A nosy co-worker at the office.
  • Nosy Neighbor: Aimee was not-so-subtly listening through the wall to hear Archer chewing our T.L., even though this little debacle was neither her circus nor her monkey.
    Bill
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tmc_4_1.png
Played by: William Tokarsky
Bill is the only non-Cook character of the show. He appears in the background at strategic places.
  • Almighty Janitor: Bill has access to the Cooks' house, the police department, the office, and the kitchen, and nobody seems to be bothered by a man always dressed in casual clothes hanging around.
  • Driven by Envy: Word of God states that Bill is killing the others because he wanted to be a sitcom dad and never had the opportunity.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Every segment shows him in the background at least once.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: After murdering the others, Bill cooks a foot in the oven and starts feasting on various body parts at the dinner table.
  • Knight of Cerebus: The second he starts to kill, he turns a funny parody video in a chilling horror story.
  • Interface Screw: Because Bill is a background character, the actor's name is never displayed like the others.
  • Me's a Crowd: During the Star Trek / Battlestar Galactica segment, there's a whole army of machete-wielding Bills storming the C.O.O.K.S.' ship.
  • Reality Warper: His increasing presence also comes with a heaping helping of increasing Interface Screw. The more involved he becomes, the more nightmarish and surreal things get until all of the Cooks' are gradually replaced and glitched out in favor of copies of Bill.
  • Serial Killer: He starts murdering the other characters at random for some unknown reason.
