Chiyo Shuzenji - Recovery Girl

Quirk: Heal

Real name Chiyo Shuzenji, Recovery Girl is the resident nurse of U.A. High who patches the students up with her Quirk and her wealth of medical expertise. After Shiho attempts suicide, Mishima starts a petition to get her to visit Shujin Academy in order to treat his injured classmate.

  • And Your Reward Is Edible: She gives out multivitamin gummies to her patients and those visiting them.
  • Bystander Syndrome: She openly disapproves of people sending their well-wishes without actually trying to do anything to make the lives of the injured better. Because of this, she admires Mishima's decision to petition for her help to get Shiho the treatment she needed and heaps praise on him when they bump into each other at the hospital. This only makes sense, given that she's the head practitioner at the most prestigious Hero school in the country.
Mishima: Y-you wanted to meet me? I-I’m nothing special, really… [remembers his inability to stand up to Kamoshida] I'm really not...
Recovery Girl: Nonsense, boy. You had the sense to act when others wouldn’t. Too often people give their sympathies to the injured without doing much to make things better. You were at least able to give Suzui-chan a chance to get back on her feet by bringing her to my attention. I think that’s something special.
  • Classy Cane: Hers is a working syringe about half her height.
  • Cool Old Lady: She's happy to respond to a petition asking for her help even though her work as a nurse for the students of the most prestigious Hero school in Japan leaves her with little time to spare. She also commends Mishima for sending her the petition, saying that people often forget that being a Hero is more than just bringing Villains to justice.
  • Healing Hands: Her Quirk allows her to accelerate the body's natural healing processes dramatically, allowing her to treat a broken arm in a few day's time rather than the weeks or months it would normally take when used alongside traditional medicine. The only downside is that this rapidly drains the patient's reserves of energy, leaving them feeling groggy and exhausted for a while afterward. There are also injuries that it can't heal alone, such as having the bones in one's arm pulverized, potentially requiring surgery and even then it may leave scars.
  • Ironic Name: Her title is the "Youthful Hero" and she's well into her golden years, not that this has affected her ability to do her job at all.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Of course, but hers drags on the floor like a cape because of her advanced age.
  • Miniature Senior Citizens: She's only 3'9'' and definitely a senior citizen.
  • Non-Action Guy: She's a registered Hero, but her specialty lies in treating the wounded and sick rather than taking it to the Villains.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Unlike the staff at Shujin, Recovery Girl always rationalizes her actions and cares for all of her patients. Ann is initially shocked and lashes out at Recovery Girl for leaving Shiho's arm and leg stiff. Recovery Girl then tells her to be quiet and listen, explaining that she only did so to keep Shiho from attempting suicide again. Ann settles down after this explanation and apologizes.

A third-year U.A. student who Sae meets with, along with Akechi, to discuss the 'Phantom Thieves of Hearts'.

  • Fun Personified: Mirio can't stay quiet or sit still, as seen when he spooks Akechi just to startle the detective.
  • Intangible Man: His Quirk lets him phase through solid matter like it isn't there. He uses it to spook Akechi by pushing his face through the stair railing.
  • Lawful Stupid: He mindlessly surrenders Eri to Overhaul despite the fact that she is clearly scared out of her mind of him, just because he's her father.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Mirio is ashamed of himself after letting Overhaul take Eri away and has been begging Sir Nighteye to let him make amends. When Chiaski surrenders and Eri is safe, he still gives a heartfelt apology to Sakura and Midorya for failing her, agreeing with Sakura's assessment and vowing to double down on his schooling to become a true hero.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: On the receiving end by Sojiro when he lets Overhaul take Eri when she is clearly scared of him.

    Ren Amamiya

Ren Amamiya

Quirk: Super Smoke

In another time, another place, this young man would have become "Joker", the Wild Card and leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Here, Ren Amamiya is a first-year student at U.A.'s Hero course.

  • The Ace: Implied. When the story follows Bakugou's perspective, he angrily thinks about "Fake Glasses" on the same level as Todoroki, indicating he is jealous of his prowess.
  • Age Lift: Joker was a second-year high school student in Persona 5. Here, Ren is a first-year student.
  • Chick Magnet: All of his female classmates in U.A. seem to have a crush on him, to Bakugou's annoyance.
  • Demoted to Extra: In the original Persona 5, he was the player character and the main protagonist. Here, he's a background character.
  • Purely Aesthetic Glasses: Even though he's not on probation, Ren still wears fake glasses in class, which is why Bakugou calls him "Fake Glasses".
  • Stepford Smiler: Bakugou accuses him of it. While he acts quiet and helpful in class, Bakugou claims he's hiding a genuine bloodlust he's seen while on the battlefield.
  • Super Smoke: Though it hasn't been seen yet, Bakugou notes that Ren can create smoke of some kind.
