Main Characters

    Sun Jing
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sun_jing.jpg

The protagonist of the story. She has a crush on Qiu Tong since she first meets her by chance.

  • Berserk Button: She has no qualms about saying exactly what it is; victim blaming and slut shaming. She unloads on a teacher who implies that Qiu Tong is partly at fault for a pervert videotaping her panties at an arcade because she was wearing a slightly short skirt.
  • Bifauxnen: Especially in the author's artworks where she wears her hair short.
  • Death Glare: Gives particularly scary ones to a pervert who tries to photograph under Qiu Tong's skirt, and to a scolding teacher who tries to blame Qiu Tong afterwards for wearing a short skirt.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: In universe, Qiu Tong and other students are implied to crush on her. Out of universe, many female readers find her very attractive. Kicked up a notch when a bunch of girls from Qiu Tong's school watch her play basketball and promptly fall for her.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: She's 175 cm, or roughly 5'8". For context, the average height of a girl her age in China is about 5'2".
  • Lesbian Jock: Sun Jing is really into basketball. She's also quite good at it, completely taking by surprise the two delinquents that she, Xuezhang, and the class president are playing against, as well as everyone else watching (including Qiu Tong).
  • Luminescent Blush: Happens exceedingly often when she's around Qiu Tong.
  • Modesty Shorts: She wears spats under her school uniform.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Unlike most girls, Sun Jing wears a tie instead of a bow with her uniform. She also wears sneakers and does not wear knee high socks.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Implied multiple times. When she brings up to Qi Fang that she's in love with a girl, he's surprised by the statement, and she herself seems perplexed at the concept. While she's never felt desire towards a man, she also admits to Qiu that she doesn't like all girls, pointedly referring to the fact she desires Qiu. It's played tragically when Mo Xiao Nan passionately describes the moment she fell in love with Sun Jing after working up the courage to speak to her for months...and though we don't know what Sun Jing said next, the fact that Mo Xiao Nan isn't brought up for a while and the fact that, when she does return, she's glaring hatefully at Sun Jing, we can't assume she reciprocated Mo Xiao Nan's feelings.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Initially towards Qiu Tong, albeit unintentionally. She tried to be upfront about wanting to get to know Qiu Tong, but always got too nervous and flustered to say anything and would end up suddenly walking away without a word. It ends up scaring Qiu Tong away.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She barely qualifies at 5'8 (and, this being China, that's doubly impressive) and there are a lot people on both ends of the spectrum who desire her.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: When she isn't at school.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She has no qualms wearing skirts at school.

    Qiu Tong
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/qiu_tong_1.jpg

The girl Sun Jing is in love with. She is from the neighboring South High school.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Qiu Tong often blushes around Sun Jing, yet she tearfully turns down Sun Jing's confession. She is probably more confused about her own feelings than anything. Pretty much confirmed gay by being the one to initiate their first kiss.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Both her hair and eyes have soft yellow color.
  • The Cutie: Qiu Tong has the look and personality of an angel.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold
  • Hidden Depths: Despite her cheerful and friendly personality, Qiu Tong actually struggles with loneliness and has always found it difficult to interact with her peers. It's why she's self-conscious of being called "weird."
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Qiu Tong seems to come from a fairly wealthy background, if her mother's constant renovations are any indication, but she has little friends and spends most of her time home alone. One chapter even has her gazing out her window to watch a family spend time together.
  • Luminescent Blush: Although she's rejected Sun Jing's confession, she noticeably blushes more than before from Sun Jing's antics.
  • Nice Girl: Part of why Sun Jing fell in love with her in the first place. Even though she claims to not to return Sun Jing's feelings, she insists that the latter is a wonderful person that she loves being friends with, and vehemently refuses to use those romantic feelings to take advantage of her.
  • No Social Skills: She admits that she's always had a hard time interacting with her peers and has spent a lot of her life isolated and lonely.
  • Older Than She Looks: She is older than Sun Jing and yet looks and acts younger than her. Even Qi Fang expressed surprise at this.
  • Shrinking Violet: Why she has trouble making friends when she was young.
  • Tender Tears: After she turns down Sun Jing's confession.
