Athenia

Has its own page.

Spartania

     In General
  • Feuding Families: Spartania has been Athenia's rival tribe for generations, due to their snobbish, arrogance and lack of respect for their ways. Any Athenian who comes into contact with a Spartanian will usually get in trouble with the King or Queen.
     King Reed
Played By: Tyler Murree
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/king_reed1.jpg
  • 13 Is Unlucky: He makes his official debut at the ending of the show's 13th episode, and his introduction marks the point where the show's universe begins to become more expansive, and takes a Darker and Edgier turn.
  • Beard of Evil: He's got a large amount of facial hair, plus a beard and goatee, and he's bad to the bone.
  • Doting Parent: He's suggested to be this towards his son Cliff considering how spoiled he is.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Courtesy of Tyler Murree who really knows how to sell a villain performance. His voice is noticeably far deeper than the rest of the cast (with the possible exception of King Oberon)
  • Fat Bastard: He's not exactly the most in shape man in the 2nd kingdom, though he's definitely a total scumbag and stick in the mud, with his two-faced tactics and lack of care for others.
  • Foreshadowing: His identity was alluded to a couple of times, but still pretty vague. For one thing, Tristan would constantly bring up his mother in conversations about his personal life, but he never once references his father. This would showcase how Tristan's father wasn't in his life, although the audience had yet to figure out why.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He was secretly working with Versitude to overthrow Athenia, and spying on Astral, although, unlike Veristude, he never gets directly involved in tends to play a more minor role.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Prior to his introduction in the 13th episode, the series was mainly light-hearted tales in the mortal world, and even in Athenia with Versitude as a previous baddie, she at least had her share of humorous and light-hearted moments. King Reed doesn't get any of that as he's played seriously at all times and opened the gateways for potentially darker storylines.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: He turns out to be Tristan's long-lost father. Tristan's less than pleased to find out he was destined to bring chaos and tragedy to Athenia, and clearly wanted no part in said destruction.
  • Minor Major Character: He appears in a grand total of 3 episodes within the show's 20 episodes, and yet it's not an exaggeration to say that he's a very important figure in the plot line.
  • Smug Snake: Oh yeah. He will rub his power and authority in your face, and force you into doing his bidding regardless of if you also have reasonable power. He's overall an over arrogant fellow with far too much pride.
  • Villain Team-Up: He and Versitude, secretly work together to stage a coup and declare war on the human realm.

     Prince Cliff
Played By: Parham Rownaghi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/princecliff.png
  • And Now You Must Marry Me: As part of a deal with his father to allow the Athenians to evacuate into their kingdom, Cliff tries to force Astral into marrying him, despite the latter clearly being uncomfortable with it. Thankfully Astral's mother would put the cork into that outcome and force King Reed and Cliff to leave
  • Big Entrance: He provides one of these during his arrival at Theseus High as a quick way to show off.
  • Picky Eater: While at Snug's, he asks Astral how he could stomach what he calls an "excuse for a french fry", and smugly reveals that his father sent him to Switzerland where he had pomme frites with truffle oil and shaved parmagiano reggiano, right before asking the waiter for truffle oil, and to make sure it was from Alba.
  • Prince Charmless: He's snobby, pretentious, immature, a total showoff and very insensitive to other people's feelings.
  • Royal Brat: He's the son of King Reed, he's got some amount of power, and he'll make sure Athenia knows it, whether they like it or not.

Students

     Gigi
Played By: Neekah Richards
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gigi_56.png
  • Innocent Beta Bitch: She's one of Hailey's closest companions, although she's nowhere near as mean as Hailey is.
  • Satellite Character: Most of her scenes are centered around Hailey where she usually talks some sense into her or explains proper rules to settle disputes.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The one time she plays a pivotal role in an episode, she shows up near the school gymnasium overhearing the yelling and letting Astral and the gang out of the locked gym. Without her, the gang would have still been trapped in the gym, having to wait until the solar eclipse passes by and Astral's powers return so she could just fairy her way out; and even then, it would probably be too late to stop Mr. Quince from bulldozing Athenia and destroying her home. You've got Gigi to thank for Athenia's safety.
  • Token Black Friend: She's Hailey's closest friend and companion and a Voice of Reason who happens to be black.

Other Human Characters

     Peter Quince (Major Spoilers)
Played By: Brett Donahue

Petrithon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peter_quince1.png
Devon's father as well as Astral and Brendoni's parental guardian during their temporary stay in the other world. He's a businessman who has plans for a research center meant to gather scientists from across the globe and help the environment.

  • Abdicate the Throne: Petrithon was next in line to be the ruler of Athenia once, but he stepped down in order to stay together with a woman in the mortal world, leaving his younger brother Oberon to be the next king by default.
  • Affably Evil: Even after his true plan and intentions are revealed, he's still a decent father to Devon reasonable and open-minded authority figure to Astral and Brendoni (his surprise niece and nephew).
Devon: My dad isn't some evil villain... he's the guy who made us ham sandwiches and root beer floats, he's the guy who's always been there for me.
Astral: Your dad's not a bad person, Devon, he's just wrong about this.
  • All for Nothing: Back when Petrithon was in Athenia next-in-line to its king, he had gotten curious about life in the human world, despite his brother's wishes and used his "other" walk to take a closer look at it (not unlike his niece and her own curiously). While in the "other world he'd fall in love with a mortal woman and attempt to bring her back to Athenia as his soulmate. Unfortunately, "others"/humans were prohibited from becoming rulers of the kingdom, so Petrithon had to make a choice between becoming king of Athenia and abandoning the love of his life, or stepping down from the throne to be with his love in the mortal world. He ultimately chose the latter option, and left Athenia forever to be with his love. Unfortunately, the choice would ultimately prove to be futile as the woman would (presumably) pass away at an unknown point birth to Devon, meaning he had abandoned the Athenian crown for nothing. This would also serve as tragic foreshadowing of what would happen between Astral and Tristan
  • Archnemesis Dad: Subverted. He may be Devon's father and attempts to harm Astral's homeland, but he never specifically antagonizes or tries to bring harm to Devon, and still comes across as a decent authority figure. Devon himself would tell Astral his dad wasn't an evil villain, as he was always there for him and genuinely cared for him, Astral and Brendoni, despite not having the best intentions.
  • Cain and Abel: He serves as the Cain to Oberon's Abel, as he wanted to bulldoze down the tree to Athenia knowing full-well just how many innocent lives he'd be endangering in the process.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "You Can't Go Home Again" still has Astral play a notable role in the episode, although it's more of a Mr. Quince episode as we get some context to his early life prior to having Devon (including his relationship with Athenia) and his motivations for wanting to bulldoze Evermoor Woods.
  • Easily Forgiven: Astral and her family are shockingly quick to forgive and make amends with Mr. Quince, considering he nearly destroyed their homeland and endangered its inhabitants.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: Astral recognized how Mr. Quince/Petrithon had left Athenia due to romantic feelings he gained on a human woman, and how mortals couldn't be rulers of the kingdom, and how she passed away not long after they married in the human world leaving him heartbroken. So, then she'd try to set him up into another relationship, by charming him and Principal Williams into falling in love in an attempt to console him enough to convince him to back down from the project. Although, once again the plan would backfire. Though Astral would still show sympathy for Mr. Quince's loss even after everything he's done.
    • On top of that even after everything he's done, Astral and Devon still respect him, considering all the care and protection he provided them up to that point.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite all of his morally gray and shady actions, he genuinely cares about his son Devon's safety, to the point where he ends up partially regretting his actions, due to him nearly getting hurt.
  • Evil Uncle: He serves this role towards Astral and Brendoni, after revealing his relationship with Oberon and his intentions to destroy her homeland.
  • Long-Lost Relative: He turns out to be King Oberon's long-lost older brother who had abandoned his chance to rule Athenia so he could be with the love of his life who was a mortal woman.
  • Minor Major Character: He overall plays a supporting role, and mainly serves as a parental figure to Devon, Astral and Brendoni, but let's just say, the truth about him is more shocking than you could believe.
  • Obvious Villain, Secret Villain: He serves as the Secret Villain to Versitude's Obvious Villain, as unlike Versitude — who's established to be evil almost immediately after her introduction — Petrithon seems like a Reasonable Authority Figure, as his true colors aren't revealed until Season 1's second half.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Prior to his big reveal, he comes across as a strict, but well-intentioned adult figure who Devon and Astral could look up to for advice. Even after his construction plan fails, and his true nature's exposed, he's still partly willing to hear Devon's thoughts
  • Shout-Out: His human name's based on the character from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream of the same name.
  • Unknown Relative: For more than half the first season, Astral and Brendoni had no idea that he was their uncle and King Oberon's long-lost brother, just assuming he was Devon's father and nothing more.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: While Peter did have plans to bulldoze Evermoor Woods and destroy various trees in the forest— including the central tree where Athenia secretly resided — it was a sacrifice he ultimately had to make for his plans to build a research center that would gather environmental scientists all over the world. One forest for the future of nature in general, and it seemingly wouldn't do much harm. However, this verges onto Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist when it's revealed he was not only King Oberon's older brother — and therefore, knew full well about the secret world of Athenia, and yet deliberately chose those woods for the center, knowing he's endangering thousands of lives — but also that he was intentionally planning to bulldoze the tree during a solar ellipse, where the fairies would lose their powers and be mostly helpless to fight back. Clearly, part of his plans for environmentalist center is primarily about destroying Athenia more than anything.
  • You Are Grounded!: He grounds Devon, Astral and Brendoni after he catches them throwing a Wild Teen Party and making a total mess of the house, which he'd force them to clean up.
     Mrs. Quince
Devon's Missing Mom who's absent from his and Peter's lives for some reason that's never made clear.

  • Missing Mom: Despite being Devon's mother and Peter's wife, she's suspiciously absent in the series with no proper word or explanation over what happened to her to cause said absence.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: She never appears onscreen throughout the series, but her past and history with Petrithon basically set a cataclysm for the entire series. Without her, Petrithon wouldn't have had a reason to leave Athenia and Abdicate the Throne, he'd be king instead of Oberon, Devon never would have been born, and the whole series would have taken a very different turn.
  • Uncertain Doom: It's unclear whether she's dead, or whether she's still alive but absent from the Quinces' lives. She's always referred to in the past tense, with characters saying, she's "gone" and "my time with [her] was too short"... although nobody ever specifically stated she was dead, or how she disappeared.
     Nancy Tracey
Morgan's mother, and the owner of a clothing store
     Mrs. Andersen
  • Ambiguously Human: The Season 1 finale reveals that Tristan was actually a fairy masquerading as an ordinary teenage boy, so who's to say that his mother isn't secretly a fairy herself? Unfortunately, there were only a few minutes of the season left, and with the show not getting renewed, this never gets resolved, and it's left unclear whether Tristan's mother is a fairy like him.
  • The Ghost: Tristan mentions his mother a couple of times in an episode during a date with Astral, and yet she doesn't make a personal appearance onscreen.
     Hailey's Siblings
     Mr. and Mrs. Althazar
  • Invisible Parents: Winston's constantly bringing up his parents in conservations, including about how they were both botantists, and yet we never get to see them onscreen.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: The story would have taken a notably different turn if they had simply dropped their son off at Devon's house instead of leaving him with a GPS to find the way himself.
     Tabitha Montgomery
     Jimbo
     Brian, Julie and Lisa
     Marla Cavanaugh
