Hinami Ayukawa
A first-year in high school. She falls in love with Shiki after meeting her and joins the athletic team to be with her despite her lack of talent, becoming its manager.
- Affectionate Nickname: Is "Hina" to Shiki, "Hinamin" to Waka and "Ayukawashi" to Nonon.
- Athletically Challenged: She sucks at sports and only sought to join the basketball team to get close to Shiki. Since she doesn't have the athletic skill to be a player, she's made the manager.
- Book Dumb: Her best subject is Home Ec, which doesn't have a midterm. As a result, she has to work hard to pass the exams and continue with club activities.
- Cannot Spit It Out: While it's obvious that she likes Shiki in a romantic way, she never says so out loud until the final chapter.
- Cute Clumsy Girl: Her attempts at playing basketball go poorly because of her clumsiness.
- Cute Sports Club Manager: Due to being passionate about basketball but having no talent, she gets the job.
- Everyone Hates Math: Hina's worst subject is math.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: She's good at cooking, surprising Shiki who admits to not being very good at it despite living alone.

- Otaku: She likes games with handsome protagonists. She's a bit embarrassed about this and wonders if Shiki will judge her for getting a Survival Princess preorder, but luckily for her, Shiki doesn't mind.

- Smitten Teenage Girl: She has a huge crush on Shiki and fawns over almost anything she does.
Shiki Hiiragi
A second-year in high school and a member of the basketball team. After Hina falls for her, she eventually reciprocates her feelings.
- Because You Can Cope: Her parents neglect her in favor of her older brother because they think she can handle herself.
- Bifauxnen: As the title implies, she's a "handsome" girl, who's tall and has relatively short hair.
- Book Dumb: Implied to be a downplayed case. Rei remarks that math is Shiki's best subject, but Shiki says that it's merely better than her other subjects.
- Boyish Short Hair: She's a tomboyish basketball player with short hair.
- Butch Lesbian: She has short hair, plays basketball, doesn't really care about fashion, and later reciprocates Hina's romantic feelings.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: Her ample bust is one of the features that Hina finds attractive about her.
- Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Her brother is talented but "a bit of a flake," whereas Shiki has "a good head on (her) shoulders."
- Hidden Depths: Despite coming off as confident, popular and outgoing, she's also a bit lonelier than people realize due to the situation with her brother.
- Minor Living Alone: Even though she's a high school student, she lives in an apartment by herself.
- Nice Girl: A rather nice person, especially to Hina.
- Oblivious to Love: She doesn't get the initial signs that Hina is attracted to her.
- Parental Neglect: Her parents don't pay much attention to her due to being focused on her brother.
Rei Miyamoto
A second-year in high school and a member of the basketball team, although she's taking a break from practice due to an injury. She's Rei's long-time friend and girlfriend, is Shiki's friend and classmate and warms up to Hina over time.
- Affectionate Nickname: After Hina becomes friends with her, she calls her "Meowmoto-senpai."
- Armor-Piercing Question: When Hina is angsting about the status of her relationship with Shiki, Rei asks her what she wants to happen.
- Childhood Friend Romance: She has known Hanna since they were young and is currently in a relationship with her.
- Hey, You!: Typically calls Hina "first-year" before warming up to her, after which she switches to "Ayukawa."
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Hina finds her rather scary at first glance, but it turns out that Rei cares about others, not wanting her teammates to get hurt.
- Jerkass Has a Point: She's strict about training and ends up causing the team to resent her, but this is only because she doesn't want them to injure themselves like she did. After Hina learns the truth, she stands up for Rei.
- Last-Name Basis: Most people call her by her last name and she responds in kind, with Hanna being the only exception.
- Nepotism: Some of her detractors claim that she gets special treatment due to being close to the captain. They're obviously biased, though, since they resent her for her strictness, and she has a good reason not to practice- she's recovering from an injury.
- Not So Above It All: Despite being a bit weirded out by Hina's request to take a picture of Shiki in class, she does so when Shiki has a cute expression on her face.
- Tsundere: Harsh to most people but shows a softer side to those she cares about. Even Hanna gets on her nerves at times.
Hanna Adachi
A third-year in high school and captain of the basketball team. She has known Rei for a long time and is her girlfriend
- Armor-Piercing Question: After noticing that Shiki seems jealous of Rei, asks if it's because Hina was having fun with someone other than Shiki
- Childhood Friend Romance: She has known Rei since they were young and is currently in a relationship with her
- Eyes Always Shut: Her eyes are shown this way, indicating her laid-back and cheerful personality.
- Nice Girl: She's a laid-back and friendly indiivdual.
Nonon Naruse and Waka Sasaki
First-years in high school who are Hina's friends and classmates.
- Affectionate Nickname: Hina calls Nonon "Nono-chan."
- Bespectacled Cutie: The gentle Waka wears glasses.
- Childhood Friends: Nonon has known Hina since they were young, while they met Waka in middle school.
- Cosplay Otaku Girl: Waka likes to attend cosplay events where she cosplays as male characters.
- Cute Oversized Sleeves: Nonon, the smallest of Hina's friends, likes wearing oversized clothes with long hand-hiding sleeves.
- Older Than She Looks: Nonon is the same age as Hina and Waka, but she's small and flat-chested, making her look like a middle school student.
- Otaku: Nonon likes mecha anime, while Waka likes shonen manga.
- Playful Cat Smile: The carefree Nonon sports a cat-like smile.
- Satellite Character: They're both somewhat nerdy, friends with Hina and supportive of her relationship with Shiki. Their only interaction with a character other than Hina is a brief encounter with Shiki, which results in them quickly excusing themselves to let Hina spend the day with Shiki.
- Shipper on Deck: They're rather supportive of Hina's relationship with Shiki. When they meet up with Shiki on a day off, they encourage Hina to go with Shiki. After Hina and Shiki get into a relationship, they almost immediately come over to Hina's place with a cake, eager to hear the whole story.
- Speak in Unison: They speak together when thanking Shiki for being kind to Hina.
