Main Characters

    Scrapper/Sonic
The hero we know, but stuck in the body of Metal Sonic. Having been left to rot by Metal Sonic after stealing his body, he's been stuck laying for 20 years before recovery by Marine and Sticks. Since which he has been slowly recovering and piecing himself back together. He later starts plotting his revenge on his Doppelgänger.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Losing everything he had and left in an unfamiliar robotic body naturally leaves him a lot more miserable, especially since he hasn’t been able to speak with Metal Sonic’s body.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Starts out this way after being recovered by Sticks and Marine. It even takes him a little to start referring to himself as a him.
  • Berserk Button: Seeing President Sonic. Given all that he’s done, it’s more than understandable. The first time it happens causes him to shut down and finally helps him regain his memories and the second causes him to accidentally trigger Metal Sonic's turbine.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Even as an amnesiac robot, Sonic's heroic personality shines through. Despite barely getting to know her, he is still willing to save Sticks from the Jackal Gang when they attack her and Marine.
  • Fatal Flaw: His tendency to rush into danger proves his undoing in this story.
  • Heroic BSoD: Happens to him a lot as he struggles to remember who he is and as he learns to cope with what’s become of himself.
  • Horrifying Hero: He's Sonic stuck with the intimidating body of his Killer Robot Me.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: This instinct is what cost him his body with his rush to face Metal Sonic falling right into his trap. He isn’t any better afterwards either, as it takes Sticks pointing out the idiocy of his rush to face down President Sonic before he reconsiders.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: After recovering from his amnesia, he becomes increasingly disturbed by how used to and influenced by Metal Sonic’s body he’s becoming.
  • My Greatest Failure: His falling for Metal Sonic's trap, which allowed him to become a dictator in his place, weighs heavily on him.
  • Name Amnesia: Initially struggles to remember his name, so he ends taking the name “Scrapper” as suggested by Marine until seeing his stolen body on tv causes a Heroic BSoD that helps remind him of his true identity.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: It’s his failures that allowed President Sonic’s rise, a fact that weighs very hard on him when he fully remembers it.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: After recovering from amnesia, his top priority is revenge on Metal/President Sonic.
  • The Speechless: Likely due to damage and decay, he can only make beeps for noise.
  • A Tragedy of Impulsiveness: His failure to consider how suspicious his path to Metal Sonic was proves his own undoing.
  • Tragic Robot: He’s a version of Sonic who was left to rot in the body of his Robot adversary while said adversary corrupted the world in his place, so this is a given.
  • Unwilling Roboticization: The main source of his angst, as nothing about Metal Sonic’s body feels right to him even before he recovers from amnesia.

    Sticks the Badger
A scavenger living in the Scraplands. Initially skeptical of the robot, she quickly changes her mind after being saved by him.

    Marine the Raccoon
Sticks younger Sister, she was the one who found Metal Sonic’s body.

New Federation of Mobius

    President Sonic
The altruistic hero we know and love…is not this guy. Actually Metal Sonic after successfully stealing Sonic’s Body, he is the totalitarian dictator of the “New Federation of Mobius”, having successfully hijacked the resistance to enact Dr. Robotnik’s vision.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The thing setting the story in motion was Sonic falling for his trap, with the story picking up 20 years later when he’s successfully established his empire.
  • Batman Gambit: What allowed him to win against Sonic was correctly expecting him to foolishly rush into his base, and then knocking him out.
  • Big Bad: He’s the mastermind who robbed Sonic of his life and became a dictator worthy of Dr. Eggman himself.
  • Evil Costume Switch: Is usually seen wearing a black jacket as President of the Federation.
  • Evil Gloating: Savors every moment of his initial victory to rub it in Sonic’s face...Metaphorically speaking.
  • Evil Is Petty: Fully admits he could still use Sonic in his old body or just end him, but doesn’t because he hates him and wants him to suffer.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He presents himself as the caring but snarky Sonic publicly, but it’s all a Façade. He WILL roboticize anyone who angers him without remorse.
  • Full-Circle Revolution: Rather inevitable when the revolution is secretly hijacked by the previous dictator’s creation/son.
  • Grand Theft Me: His last ditch effort to win the war against the Resistance is to do this with Sonic. It worked.
  • Kick the Dog: Does this frequently, such as encouraging Doctor Prower to go through with roboticizing Knuckles or roboticizing his advisor Fink for objecting to his over-reliance on roboticization.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Has manipulated many around him to ensure his dictatorship, Doctor Prower especially.
  • President Evil: Declared himself President of the Federation and publicly boasts about and abuses his power.
  • Smug Snake: He certainly has the arrogance of Sonic.
  • Super-Speed: It’s still Sonic’s body after all.
  • Unwilling Roboticization: Aside inflicting this on his original counterpart via bodyswap, this is also his go-to punishment in his regime.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Being the leader of a Dictatorship, he's naturally built his own Cult of Personality and uses propaganda to keep up his image.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: One of his driving motivations is to enact the vision of the world his father would have wanted.

    Doctor Prower
A grown-up Tails and President Sonic’s right-hand man, he's the inventor of the roboticization process. He's quite miserable serving him.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Being forced to do horrible things while having a family to worry about has not left him with much joy, to put it mildly.
  • Being Evil Sucks: It’s clear that the misuse of his inventions and duties as Sonic’s right-hand man have left him completely miserable, demonstrated by him watching and being goaded by President Sonic into Roboticizing Knuckles. But his brotherly bond with Sonic and fear of reprisal towards him and his family keep him loyal to the Federation.
  • Break the Cutie: Whatever he's been up to in the 20 year Time Skip has taken a severe toll on his mental health.
  • Family Man: One of the main reasons he continues to put up with his duties is because of his family.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Shows a lot of regret for going through with Knuckle's roboticization.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: He’s not any more malicious than canon, but has found himself in this position due to his admiration of Sonic.
  • Reluctant Mad Scientist: As the loyal friend of Sonic who's become a brutal dictator, he's been stuck seeing his Roboticization tech abused for dubious purposes.
  • Trapped in Villainy: Is incredibly miserable with his current situation, but knows all too well what could happen if he steps out of line.
  • Undying Loyalty: Deconstructed, as his blind adoration and loyalty to Sonic has left him increasingly isolated and depressed from the horrible things President Sonic’s made him do.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Knuckles, which made carrying out his punishment hurt that much more.

    Agent Stone
President Sonic’s most loyal servant seen so far.
  • Sycophantic Servant: To be expected from Stone, he shows zero concern or horror at Sonic’s brutal treatment of Fink for questioning him.
  • Token Human: So far the only human who’s been seen in Metropolis.

    Advisor Fink
An advisor to President Sonic who calls out his over reliance on Roboticization.

Other

    Slit
A badly scarred Jackal who lives in the Scraplands, he tried to steal the “Metal Unit” from Sticks and Marine.

    Knuckles the Echidna
Sonic's former friend, he was a key member of the resistance before being punished with Roboticization.

    Amy Rose/Ogilvie
President Sonic’s former wife. Married shortly after victory, she broke up with him sometime during the Time Skip. Has only been seen in a photo President Sonic still has around.
  • Ambiguous Situation: It’s left unclear if she’s already been Roboticized like Knuckles, or is still out there fighting for the resistance.
  • False Soulmate: President Sonic proved one to her, because he literally isn’t the Sonic she grew up having a crush on.
