The ten villains who lead the main alliance of villains from across the multiverse and who serve as the main protagonists (but not heroes) of the fanfiction. The first seven listed were present on the team from the very beginning, while the latter three joined at later times during the first installment and rose to prominence as the series went on.

     Maleficent

From: Kingdom Hearts / Sleeping Beauty

The leader of the Overtakers, and the main character of the fanfiction. Maleficent is the one who initially brought together the team of villains from across many different worlds to find the Book of Prophecies. As the Mistress of All Evil and an extremely powerful fairy sorceress, she's a natural leader for the forces of darkness.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Maleficent's backstory is expanded on from canon, establishing her as having a romantic past with Yen Sid, and delving into her parentage and history with the rest of the fae.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: The Mistress of All EVIL.
  • Chastity Couple: With Hades. Maleficent states upfront when she and Hades get together that she has no desire for sex in their relationship, and gives her blessing for him to have sex with other people if he wants some, so long as she remains the only one he has romantic feelings for.
  • The Comically Serious: Maleficent often plays this role in contrast to the Large Hams on her team... that is, when she's not hamming it up herself.
  • Crossover Villain-in-Chief: Is the leader of the Overtakers.
  • Dark Action Girl: One of many on the Overtakers. She fights primarily with her dark magic.
  • Evil Mentor: To Dark Riku.
  • Evil Wears Black: In contrast to Flora and Merryweather's bickering over pink or blue.
Maleficent: "Quite so, for we'll turn their jolly pinks and blues to black."
     Hades

From: Kingdom Hearts / Hercules

The Olympian God of the Underworld and Co-Dragon of the Overtakers (alongside Ursula). Hades was one of the first villains to join the Overtakers, and he supplied the Overtakers with a base of operations in the Underworld until the team was able to conquer other new territories to utilize.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Hades's backstory is expanded on from canon, establishing his father Cronus as a major antagonist, fleshing out the gods of Olympus, and establishing his past with Persephone.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Zeus's Abel
  • Chastity Couple: With Maleficent. Maleficent states upfront when she and Hades get together that she has no desire for sex in their relationship, and gives her blessing for him to have sex with other people if he wants some, so long as she remains the only one he has romantic feelings for.
  • Death Is Cheap: With Hades being the Lord of the Dead, this is kind of inevitable.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this for Maleficent along with Ursula.
  • Love Ruins the Realm: Hades decides to bar the rest of the Overtakers from the Underworld after Maleficent rejects him. This later leads to the Underworld mansion that had been the Overtakers' original base being destroyed and Morgan Le Fey escaping.
  • Unholy Matrimony: With Maleficent
     Ursula

From: Kingdom Hearts / The Little Mermaid (1989)

The Sea Witch and Co-Dragon of the Overtakers (alongside Hades). Ursula was one of the first villains to join the Overtakers, and her talent for magical contracts has made her an invaluable asset for keeping the team in line.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Ursula's backstory is expanded on from canon, establishing her as having been a former consort of King Triton and expanding on her mother and her mother's subsequent death.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Just as in the film, Ursula grows giant at several points in the story.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: When in disguise as Riku's boyfriend Vance.
  • The Conqueror: Takes over Atlantica in the third installment.
  • Dark Action Girl: One of many on the Overtakers. She fights both with her sea witchcraft and later her trident.
  • The Dragon: Serves as this for Maleficent along with Hades.
  • Evil Is Hammy: As always!
  • Fat and Proud: Part of why she chooses to remain in her sea witch form on land instead being Vanessa full time.
Ursula: Would you want to strut about not looking like yourself all the time? I know I don't, especially since I'm so beautiful in my normal form.
  • The Hedonist: As are many other Overtakers, but Ursula is often the one who indulges herself the most in sensory pleasures.
  • Magically-Binding Contract: One of her specialties! She wrote the Overtakers' charter and uses it occassionally to keep the other members in line.
  • Sea Monster: She grows into a giant one at several points.
  • Unholy Matrimony: With Fish Mooney.
  • Wicked Witch: She, Maleficent, and Grimhilde form a trio of wicked witches at several points when combining their magic, such as when they use the Darkhold to defeat the Headless Horseman.
     Loki

From: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

The Asgardian God of Mischief. Loki was one of the founding members of the Overtakers, rescued from Niffleheim by Maleficent and Hades. Loki was recruited to the team specifically because of his talent for subterfuge and subtle manipulation.
  • Achilles in His Tent: Loki decides that he's done with the Overtakers in Villains of a Sort Chapter 37 and tries to strike out on his own after Maleficent chastises him for manipulating Grimhilde for his Judgement of Paris gambit and stranding Amora in hell. He returns only four chapters later after they save him following the failure of his attempt to brainwash Thor and Balder into helping him seize the throne of Asgard.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Thor's Abel.
  • Consummate Liar: As to be exected from someone known as the "Liesmith."
  • Drama Queen: The biggest Drama Queen amongst a team full of Drama Queens.
  • God of Evil: One of his titles. He's one of two gods in the core Overtakers.
  • Judgement of Paris: Invoked by Loki in Villains of A Sort where he manipulates Amora, Sarah Sanderson, and Grimhilde into competing to seduce Empress Celene in exchange for an apple carved with the words "for the fairest." Sarah is the only one who understands the reference because it was her favorite bedtime story as a child.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He even goes so far as to manipulate his own teammates to get what he wants.
  • Orc Raised by Elves: As always, a Frost Giant raised by Odin as an Asgardian prince. He has more than his fair share of issues around this particular situation.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He, Russell, and Hook go on one during All the Forces of Evil to take out Lady Sif, Eric Northman, and Rumplestiltskin.
  • Take That!: The Loki-centric chapter of The Odious Overtakers, starts with Loki happily taking the souls of a group of fans calling themselves the Coven of Loki, who believe him to be a misunderstood, tragic character a victim of abuse from Odin & Thor. The mischievous God proudly declares that he is neither a victim nor a trauma survivor, but someone who chose to become evil and seek power for his own greed.
  • Unholy Matrimony: With Doom, made official in the finale of All the Forces of Evil.
Doctor Doom / Victor von Doom

From: Marvel Ultimate Alliance

The Ruler of Latveria and one of the founding members of the Overtakers. His power, his intelligence, his prestige, and, of course, his ego would settle for nothing less than to be one of the core Overtakers, and he repeatedly showcases that despite being a mortal, he can contend with gods.
  • 24-Hour Armor: For the most part, though Loki sometimes gets him out of it when they're in their private chateau.
  • Badass Bookworm: Both the smartest Overtaker and one of the most powerful as well.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: And he comes directly face to face with that past after eating a Golden Apple from Asgard to obtain immortality.
  • Doomy Dooms of Doom: It's in his name, and he's not shy about letting you know it.
Doctor Doom: "It is time to determine that which men should fear most: their fate, or their DOOM!"
  • Emperor Scientist: As always after he regains control of Latveria in All the Forces of Evil
  • Evil Genius: The most intelligent Overtaker, and a genius in both mystical and scientific fields.
  • Fatal Flaw: Like many of the Overtakers, his is Pride. It outright gets him temporarily killed during his quest for immortality until Imshael brings him back.
  • Godhood Seeker: His primary motivation.
  • Living Legend: As Loki notes, he wants to distance himself from his humanity as much as he possibly can and thinks of himself more as an idea.
  • Power Parasite: Steals the power of fate from Luna of The Weird Sisters during the Overtakers' invasion of Avalon. His later attempt to try it again on the Fates is considerably less successful.
  • Scars Are Forever: His single scar, due to being left by Mephisto, cannot be healed by conventional means.
Blackheart: "You know, I give my dad a lot of shit, but he's actually brilliant. He knew that one stupid scar would bother you worse than a disfigurement, and if it still stings, that means it's cursed flesh so you can't even heal it without paying a hefty price. Oh that's fucking wicked."
  • Scars Are Ugly: Or at least Doom thinks so. His single scar prompts him to hide his face because he cannot accept anything less than perfection.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Initially feels this way with the Overtakers. Subverted with regards to the Inner Circle, as he grows to respect them over time.
  • Third-Person Person: All the time.
  • Time Travel: His time platform allows him to go back in time to study dark magic under Morgan Le Fay before her jealousy drives a wedge between them.
  • Unholy Matrimony: With Loki, made official in the finale of All the Forces of Evil.
     Russell Edgington

From: True Blood

The former Vampire King of Mississippi and one of the founding members of the Overtakers. He was recruited for the team because he started a revolution of dead souls in the Underworld enough to make trouble for Hades, unintentionally proving his worth in the process. Bloodthirsty and relentless, Russell is a deadly asset to the team.
  • The Brute: An intelligent example, Russell fills this role for the Overtakers due to his superior strength, speed, and proclivity for killing.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Due to his speed and strength, most non-magical battles against him end this way. Little Miss Malachite's spiders, for example, are slaughtered in one swoop in Villains of a Sort.
  • Daywalking Vampire: Doom provided him with the ability to generate fairy magic within himself, thus allowing Russell to walk during daylight.
  • Despair Event Horizon: After Talbot's soul is destroyed by Hecate
  • Druid: Was a Celtic Druid before he was made vampire, and his mystical Druid connections were what first drew his maker, Aiakos, to him.
  • I Love You, Vampire Son: Talbot (before Hecate destroys his soul) and later in The Odious Overtakers, Donovan.
  • The Juggernaut: The most physically powerful and unstoppable Overtaker, at least in terms of the Inner Circle.
  • Light Is Not Good: He develops light-based attacks from his new fairy powers, but his heart is as dark as always.
  • Obfuscating Insanity: He acts the most overtly crazy of the core Overtakers, but he's also a part of the Inner Circle for a reason, with all of the power, control, and intelligence that entails.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: Though he usually has a Southern drawl, his original Druid accent comes out when he's angry or fired up.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Practically a living weapon for the Overtakers.
  • Rage Breaking Point: When his date with Steve Newlin on date night goes south, he goes off the deep end and orchestrates the Undertakers being released to destroy Radiant Garden.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He, Loki, and Hook go on one during All the Forces of Evil to take out Lady Sif, Eric Northman, and Rumplestiltskin.
  • Southern Gentleman: His day to day persona is this.
     Fish Mooney

From: Gotham

The former Queen of Gotham City's underworld and one of the founding members of the Overtakers. She was recruited from the Underworld alongside Russell, and she keeps the team together by fostering a sense of camaraderie.
  • Back from the Dead: Resurrected by Hades when she agrees to join the Overtakers.
  • Compelling Voice: Thanks to her mind control toxin that she can infect anyone with with just one touch. It even works on supernatural entities like the Weird Sisters.
  • Dead to Begin With: Was recruited into the Overtakers after her soul ended up in Hades' Underworld after her death in Gotham.
  • Demonic Possession: Willingly allows herself to be possessed by Hakkon Wintersbreath to gain power. Subverted in that because of her mind control toxin, she is in control of Hakkon rather than the other way around.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Gains ice powers in All the Forces of Evil after bonding with the spirit of Hakkon Wintersbreath.
  • Likea Son To Me: As in her original canon, she says this about Penguin. Kieran Wilcox and Demyx also get this treatment in the story.
  • A Mother to Her Men: Her shtick. Particularly with Penguin, Kieran, and Demyx.
  • So Proud of You: Has several moments where she expresses this sentiment about Penguin and Kieran. Demyx, on the other hand, not so much.
  • Team Mom: Fish keeps the team together by fostering a sense of camaraderie and applying her ethos of family to the Overtakers.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In canon is a mobster and later supervillain mostly concerned with a single city. After joining the Overtakers, she's now operating on a cosmic scale bringing entire worlds to heel. She also grows more powerful as a result, eventually gaining the ice powers of a god of cold and pain that effectively make her a goddess in her own right.
  • Unholy Matrimony: She and Ursula become a couple in Quite a Glittering Assemblage.
     Jafar

From: Kingdom Hearts / Aladdin

The former Grand Vizier of Agrabah, now an all powerful genie. Jafar was one of Maleficent's original allies during the events of Kingdom Hearts, but he did not return right away like Hades and Ursula did. He was recruited shortly after during an excursion to Agrabah when the Overtakers sought out a magical object to barter for the Black Cauldron.
Maleficent: "You're impulsive! You never think things through! You wished to be a genie without knowing the cost, and even after fate bestowed upon you a second chance, you threw it all away on an ill advised battle with Sora. You're a talented wizard, but you have no sense of strategy."
  • Evil Is Petty: Par for the course with the Overtakers, but Jafar tends to take it to the next level. He basically instigates the Overtakers' rivalry with Mozenrath just because Mozenrath dared to try to replace him as Aladdin's primary adversary. He and Hook also murder all of Aladdin's friends, and Jafar keeps Aladdin alive in his dungeon just to make him live with the pain.
  • It's All About Me: Constantly puts his own desire for power ahead of most everything and everyone else. Even his boyfriend isn't always immune.
  • May–December Romance: At first glance, you'd think Jafar was the older half of his relationship with Hook, but due to Hook spending centuries on Neverland, its actually reversed.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Favors that color scheme in decor, much to Loki's chagrin.
  • Revenge Before Reason: Keeps Aladdin alive to torment even though it would have been wiser to kill him.
  • Scaled Up: Assumes his cobra form at various points in the story.
  • Sixth Ranger: Or, rather, eighth ranger. He, Hook, and Grimhilde join the Inner Circle after the original seven had been active for a while.
  • Sorcerous Overlord: In All the Forces of Evil after taking over Agrabah. Later undone by the heroes.
     Captain Hook / Killian Jones

From: Once Upona Time

After being killed by The Chernabog, Hook was revived as a dark revenant of his former self by Maleficent to aid in her conflict against Rumplestiltskin. Though initially a supporting member, Hook's resourcefulness and unwavering commitment to the Overtakers led to him becoming a part of the Inner Circle.
  • Back from the Dead: First he was revived as a Revenant by Maleficent after the Chernabog devoured his heart. Later, he was revived by Eris dutring the Battle of Olympus after being killed again by Pan.
  • Came Back Wrong: Or, rather, came back exactly as Maleficent intended. As a Revenant with only his dark side left in tact.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: As in canon, he fancies himself as a gentleman, but he's also a flirt who isn't shy about sex or sexuality.
  • Cool Boat: His ship, The Jolly Roger, is enchanted to be able to fly through the Etherium and serves as the primary vessel the Overtakers use to cross worlds whenever they don't simply use the Corridors of Darkness.
  • Face–Heel Turn: His redemption arc from Once Upon a Time is undone when he throws in his lot with the Overtakers.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Charges head first into several unsuccessful attempts to get revenge on Rumplestiltskin. These usually end abruptly and unsuccessfully, until the one time it actually works for him (with Loki's help).
  • Magic Knight: Becomes one after being made a true Blackguard.
  • May–December Romance: Physically, Jafar is older than Hook, but in actuality, Hook is the older partner, having been kept young and immortal on Neverland for centuries.
  • Parental Substitute: Temporarily becomes this for his great-great-great-nephew, Jim Hawkins. It ends badly.
  • Pirate: Of course.
  • Revenge Before Reason: He and Jafar both tend to fall victim to this one. It's one of the reasons they bond with each other.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: He, Loki, and Russell go on one during All the Forces of Evil to take out Lady Sif, Eric Northman, and Rumplestiltskin.
  • Self-Made Orphan: Manipulates Winnie Sanderson into killing his father, Davy Jones. It doesn't stick.
  • Sixth Ranger: Or, rather, ninth ranger. He, Jafar, and Grimhilde join the Inner Circle after the original seven had been active for a while.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: And he WILL let you know
  • The Team Normal: Before becoming a true Blackguard, Hook was this for the Inner Circle, albeit a badass one.
     Queen Grimhilde

From: Kingdom Hearts / Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The Evil Queen of the Dwarf Woodlands, and later the Empress Witch. Though initially an adversary for the Overtakers in Radiant Garden, Grimhilde has proven time and time again her commitment to the cause, and her dark magical expertise is invaluable.
  • Adaptational Gender Identity: In this universe, Grimhilde is a trans woman.
  • Ascended Extra: While still a major supporting character in Quite a Glittering Assemblage and Villains of a Sort, she doesn't really become a part of the Inner Circle or a main character until All the Forces of Evil.
  • Beneath the Mask: Puts on a cold and regal persona in her queenly form even though the more hammy and bloodthirsty old hag persona is closer to her true personality. Cruella helps convince her to let the mask drop in her queen form from time to time.
  • Black Magic: Her magical discipline by name.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Has a deep love and respect for her late mother, Empress Witch Borghilde, and in part wants to assume her mother's throne to carry on her legacy.
  • Evil Old Folks: As the old hag.
  • Fairest of Them All: And woe to any who attempt to rival her!
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Returns to her throne in the Dwarf Woodlands in All the Forces of Evil and later usurps the throne of the Empress Witch from Mammona. She's as cruel of a ruler as her "Evil Queen" title implies.
  • Hates Their Parent: Her father. His spirit is trapped inside of her Magic Mirror for all eternity.
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Switches back and forth between her Evil Queen and old hag forms starting in All the Forces of Evil
  • Not So Stoic: As the old hag.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Wears predominantly purple as the queen, and her magic is often described as being purple in the prose.
  • Sixth Ranger: Or, rather, tenth ranger. She, Jafar, and Hook join the Inner Circle after the original seven had been active for a while.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Poisoned apples are her specialty, just like in her original film.
  • Vain Sorceress: As usual. This leads to personality conflicts with several other vain Overtakers such as Amora the Enchantress and Sarah Sanderson, a conflict Loki is more than happy to egg on.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Slits the throat of the Blackguard's son in the Tower of the Black God.
  • You Have Failed Me: Gets revenge on Humbert the Huntsman for his failure in All the Forces of Evil.
