Main Characters
Mini

- Always Save the Girl: Zig-zagged. Sometimes Mini fails to save Utsuho from hostile situations, sometimes he succeeds.
- Childhood Friends: With Reimu and Marisa
- Curbstomp Battle: Back when Mini was still a teenager, he was soundly defeated by Yuki from Makai in a sparring match.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Artificially fused with DNA of a crow tengu, with Nitori's help. This comes with heavy side effect, though
- Happily Adopted: Adopted and taught in the way of magic by Mima.
- Interspecies Friendship: Mini is on good terms with Nitori Kawashiro, Rin "Orin" Kaenbyou, Cirno and Hiraku Okami.
- Leitmotif: Crow's Magical Menagerie ~ Two Faced Wiccan
- Love Interest: Utsuho "Okuu" Reiuji
- Parental Abandonment: As a human baby, Mini was left alone in the middle of the Forest Of Magic without any knowledge of his biological family.
- Parental Substitute: He becomes Megumi's legal guardian after he reaches adulthood.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Mini's eyes will glow in red color when his "youkai side" takes over his consciousness.
- Superpowered Evil Side: The result of his Half-Human Hybrid DNA experimentation by Nitori.
- What the Hell, Hero?: In Problem Gone Catty, Mini offends Megumi by demanding more respect from her and bringing unwanted topics about her late parents. He apologises for it later, though.
Megumi
- ProfileSpecies: HumanAbility: Kenjutsu. Technically, she doesn't have any special power on her own, but her sword allows her to channel energy into magic, such as levitating and shooting danmaku.Occupation: Student at the Human Village schoolHome: Mini's House in the Forest of Magic
- Arch-Nemesis: Remilia (former), Kagami and Victor (current).
- Artifact of Doom: Megumi wields Mangetsu no Tsurugi, a cursed sword capable of corrupting its user.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Her parents were killed and her house was ransacked in the Vampire Incident.
- Determinator: Though Megumi is trained by Youmu, her sword mastery is the result of her own hard work and efforts.
- Heroic BSoD: All these years she trained hard to be strong enough to slay vampires, and with Remilia as her main "suspect" of the Vampire Incident mastermind, imagine how broken Megumi was after realizing Remilia wasn't the kind of person she should target, as Victor was the one responsible for the said incident.
- Leitmotif: Clean Vengeance ~ Green Full Moon
- Little Miss Badass: Megumi is decent at danmaku fighting despite being younger than most of the casts including Kosuzu.
- She Who Fights Monsters: Averted. The reason why Megumi refuses to finish off Remilia Scarlet, who has a family after defeating her in a fight is because she does not want to become as evil and rotten as the vampires who slaughtered her parents.
- Vampire Hunter: Downplayed. Megumi doesn't go far in hunting vampires. Instead vampires are usually the ones who come after her and she kills them in self-defense.
- Wooden Stake: Megumi's secondary weapon, used to finish off vampires.

Hiraku Okami

- Arch-Nemesis: Downplayed. Fujiwara no Mokou considered Hiraku/Ichiro as one due to the rivalry between Fujiwara clan and Izumo clan. Hiraku did not think the same way, though.
- Casanova Wannabe: Hiraku flirts with almost any girl in Gensokyo and always ends in failure.
- Cerebus Retcon: Hiraku's reason of escaping his hometown was originally Played for Laughs, given his tendency to slack off and not taking things seriously. Even Mini and Nitori joined in the snarks. The fact is Mini and Nitori never knew that Hiraku (or Ichiro) was forced to endure Training from Hell from his eldest sister on daily basis, prohibited from making friends and robbed from chances at living a normal life. Things got worse when his mother got sick and his father treating him as an asset instead of a family member which forced poor Hiraku to fight for his freedom and run away.
- Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Despite his somewhat lazy and flirtatious attitude, Hiraku is not to be underestimated in combat situations.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: Hiraku's motive to run away from his hometown.
- Love Interest: An unnamed crow tengu girl (implied - former), Momiji Inubashiri (current)
- Magic Music: Hiraku's main ability is to enchant anyone within range with his music; This skill, along with Hiraku's passion for music was inherited from his mother, Kazuko.
- Tragic Keepsake: Hiraku's flute was originally Kazuko's, given to him after his mother suffered throat infection and was unable to play music for the rest of her life.
Ichigo "Nightmare" Hirai
- ProfileSpecies: Human (in the works of becoming a magician)Ability: Dark magicOccupation: Magic entertainer, strawberry farmerHome: Human Village
- Anything but That!: Nightmare is coerced by M to help raiding Kappa's base. How does M do that? By threatening to dig the seemingly fresh soil at Hirai's strawberry field and revealing the thing was buried inside to the public. Nightmare breaks down crying and begs for M to stop what she was going to do, eventually agreed to help her cause.
- Knight Templar Big Sister: Nightmare loves her sister Yuzuki so much, she will do anything to save and protect her sister. Apparently this includes robbing corpses from various graves, performing dark ritual and joining M to raid Kappa's base to keep her secrets.
- Lady of Black Magic: Nightmare specializes in dark magic and she is significantly more mature and graceful than Marisa who is rather blunt.
- Red Baron: She is known as "Nightmare" thanks to her affinity in dark arts.
Yuzuki Hirai

- Heroic Sacrifice: Yuzuki sacrificed her own life to save Ichigo from death in the past.
- Morality Chain: For Nightmare. Oh so much.
- Nice Girl: One of the nicest characters in Miniverse.
- Too Good for This Sinful Earth: Despite (or maybe because of) her niceness, Yuzuki died early before the story even began, as shown in flashback scene.
Kagami Shino / #13

- Arch-Nemesis: Yukari Yakumo, Megumi, Remilia, Akira
- Break the Haughty: Kagami manages to defeat Remilia, Megumi and Akira in one on one duel and was proud of it, but immediately loses when her opponents work together and keep attacking her nonstop, forcing her to flee.
- For the Evulz: Kagami does not have any significant motive behind her killings.
- Leitmotif: Demon Eclectic
- Off With Her Head: How Kagami lost to Yukari Yakumo in the past.
Victor
- ProfileSpecies: Vampire (formerly human)Ability: Controlling people's thoughts and choices just by talking to themOccupation: Leader of The Youkai UprisingHome: unknown
- And Then John Was a Zombie: Victor was turned into a vampire by a mysterious unnamed woman.
- The Chessmaster: Victor leads The Youkai Uprising, and turns out he was also the mastermind behind The Vampire Incident.
- Despair Event Horizon: According to Miniverse's DeviantArt manual, Victor lost his faith in religion and attempted to commit suicide in the past, only to be stopped by a woman with red eyes and white hair.
- Manipulative Bastard: Some time in the past, Victor manipulated his way to the top and gained enough henchmen to start The Youkai Uprising. He also started The Vampire Incident and got away scot-free while succeeded in pinning all the blame on Remilia.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: When Victor is using his ability, his eyes will change their color to red.
- Smug Snake: Victor is rather smug about his ability to control people's minds.
- White Hair, Black Heart: Victor has silver hair and despicable personality.
Akira Fujibayashi

- Ambiguously Human: Akira looks and behaves like a normal human, but she is actively trying to hide her tail for some times.
- Badass Normal: Averted. Akira can fly, uses Naginata (a peculiar choice of weapon in modern era), and turns out she has a tail.
- Brainy Brunette: Akira, a brunette, knows a lot about medicine. She aspires to enter medical school but does not have enough money to pay the required fee.
- Character Tics: Akira tends to look sideways whenever she is hiding something or outright lying, a trait she shares with Saki Izumi. Turns out Akira is really Saki who hides her true form and identity.
- Combat Medic: Akira knows a lot about medicine and first aid, and she fights well for a "human".
- Orphan's Ordeal: Both of Akira's parents are dead and she doesn't know her siblings' whereabouts.
Tenma

Note: Tenma is a canon but enigmatic character with little known informations, only known to be the chief of the tengu on the Youkai Mountain and making friendly relations with Moriya Goddesses after "Mountain of Faith" incident. This is a fan interpretation of Tenma.
- BFS: Tenma wields a large broadsword when enganging in battle.
- Benevolent Boss: Tenma is a strict but caring leader figure who wish for the best of Tengu clan.
- Blood Knight: She loves battles and compares wearing her battle gear to wearing a wedding dress.
- The Chessmaster: She lets Hiraku stay on the Youkai Mountain, knowing Hiraku is from Izumo clan and he will be useful for her later.
- The Dreaded: Many of Victor's henchmen flee and abort their mission the moment Tenma arrives on the battlefield. Even her underlings are scared of her.
- Four-Star Badass: Tenma is not called "Lord" for no reason.
- Frontline General: The Chief of the Tengu who will not hesitate to get into the battlefield.
- Lady of War: Though in peaceful era of Gensokyo Tenma usually sits in her study room doing administrative works, she is also a certified badass with many battle experiences.
