Lauren Speed was a 32-year-old content creator and Cameron was a 28-year-old data scientist at the time of filming. The two quickly formed a strong bond in the dating pods, which was solidified when they met in person. The main concern in their relationship was whether or not they would make it work as an interracial couple and whether their families would accept them. At the altar, both Lauren and Cameron agreed to say "I do" and as of March 2022, they are still married.

  • Breakout Character: After the show, Lauren and Cameron quickly became popular amongst fans, signed a book deal, started a YouTube channel which quickly grew to have over 600,000 followers, announced a YouTube original series about love and marriage, and there are rumors that Netflix is considering a reality TV spin-off that focuses on them.
  • Happily Married: As of March 2022, Lauren and Cameron are still married and by all accounts, they are very happy and very much in love.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gia_and_damian.jpg
Gia was a 25-year-old business owner and Damian was a 27-year-old ex-general manager at the time of filming. The two had intense chemistry from the start, which culminated in a very emotional proposal on both of their parts. But when they finally met in person, their relationship quickly became volatile and filled with more downs than ups. At the altar, Gia said "I do" at the altar but Damian rejected her. Nevertheless, the two agreed to date after the show but by the "After the Altar" special, their relationship was on its last legs and the two officially broke up.

  • All Women Are Lustful: Gia makes it clear that she is looking forward to having sex with Damian. She even jokes that it's been so long that she's had sex that she went to the beach to play in the waves so she could remember "what it felt like to have [her] ass cheeks slapped."
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Gia attempts this during a fight with Damian, hinting that she doesn't think he's that good in bed but it backfires when he points out that she is always the one to initiate sex.
Gia: "Have you ever noticed that you tell me that this is the best sex of your life but I don't return the compliment?"
  • Comically Missing the Point: Damian tries to tell Gia that her being on her phone all of the time annoys him. She is defensive and insists there's nothing wrong with her usage. And then she checks her phone in the middle of Damian trying to talk to her.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Damian's family does not approve of him finding a wife via a reality show and they refuse to be shown on camera.
  • Destructive Romance: Gia and Damian frequently argue and almost always seem on the verge of breaking up. It doesn't help that Gia acknowledges that fighting and yelling is common in her family but isn't in Damian's. After the show, they continue dating but their relationship is on the rocks and it isn't helped when Damian essentially brings another woman (whom he was already rumored to be cheating with) as his date to the "After the Altar" anniversary party.
  • Henpecked Husband: Damian makes it clear he wants to avoid this.
Damian: "I've become submissive because I'm scared I'm going to upset you to where I'm going to lose you."

  • His Own Worst Enemy: In her confession cam, Gia admits when she's at her wit's end, she tends to self-sabotage.
  • It's All About Me: When Damian's parents decline to meet Gia, she thinks it because Damian isn't fighting for her even when Damian explains that his parents are uncomfortable with the premise of the show.
  • Never My Fault: Gia calls out Damian for always putting the blame about their relationship on her while he counters that she doesn't want to accept responsibility for the bad behavior that drives him off. It gets worse in the "After the Altar" special where Damian refuses to accept that Gia might be upset by him essentially ignoring her and then bringing another woman as his date to the party.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: "Gia" is short for Giannina and she also goes by "Gigi."
  • Returning the Wedding Ring: Gia gives back the bow Damian gave her after he rejects her at the altar.
  • Runaway Bride: Damian rejects Gia at the altar and she runs away from the venue in tears.
  • Savvy Guy, Energetic Girl: Gia is very energetic and outgoing while Damian is quiet and calm.
  • Sex Equals Love: Gia seems to think so and gets upset when their sex life dwindles, as she fears it means the love is fading from their relationship.
  • Slap-Slap-Kiss: Damian points out that Gia tends to initiate sex after an argument, which is becoming tiring for him.
Damian (to Gia): "You put on an emotional roller coaster and that's why I don't initiate [sex]."
  • Spicy Latina: Gia is Venezuelan and is hot-blooded and passionate. She acknowledges that she and her family tend to fight a lot and yell.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: Damian proposes to Gia by giving her an empty box and then letting her know that he's wrapped a bow around his wrist because he's her real present. Gia interrupts his proposal to make him stand up and so she can then propose to him too.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gia angrily confronts Damian for not indicating his doubts before the wedding, which led to her being rejected at the altar.

    Jessica Batten & Mark Cuevas
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mark_and_jessica.jpg

Jessica was a 34-year-old regional manager and Mark was a 24-year-old fitness trainer at the time of filming. Jessica and Mark enjoyed dating each other in the pods but Jessica became torn between her attraction to Mark and Barnett, especially given the 10 year age difference between her and Mark. Eventually the two became engaged but their relationship was rocky. Ultimately, at the altar, Jessica rejected Mark and they broke up.

  • Age-Gap Romance: Jessica is 10 years older than Mark, which she often frets about.
  • Childlike Voice: Jessica tends to slide into a high-pitched, baby voice.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: For both of them. Jessica wants to find true love, settle down, and start a family. On the show, the man she is initially attracted to rejects her for someone else and her other relationship is a mess due to her inability to get past her insecurities. Jessica ends the season alone and is disliked by fans. Then she undergoes Character Development and apologizes for her bad behavior and as of March 2022, she is now happily engaged to a handsome, successful doctor who has two small children from a previous relationship. Similarly, Mark wanted to get married and settle down but the woman he proposed to was clearly not as in love with him as he was with her, and he is left at the altar. After the show, he is now in a long-term relationship and has two children.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: "Jessica the Messica."
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Jessica is jealous of Amber and Barnett.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Jessica frets over the age difference between her and Mark and whether Mark will be ready for children at age 24. It becomes Hilarious in Hindsight when after the show, Mark has two children by age 27 with his next serious girlfriend.
  • Lady Drunk: Jessica is frequently shown drinking onscreen.
  • Love Triangle: Technically a love square between Jessica, Mark, Amber, and Barnett.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: After the show and during the reunion special, Jessica acknowledged and apologized for her bad behavior on the show, which endeared her to viewers. And then in the "After the Altar" special, when Mark's cheating came to light, Jessica received additional support.
  • Sexless Marriage: Actually engagement. Jessica tells Mark that she wants to be sure of their emotional connection before getting physical but Mark becomes jealous when he hears the other guys bragging about their sex lives.
  • Vindicated by History: Mark ended the season seen under a favorable light for wanting to make the relationship work while Jessica was deemed a cringey mess who played with his feelings because she couldn't let go of Barnett. Then, at the first reunion, Jessica apologized to Amber, Barnett, and Mark for her behavior. Then, at the "After the Altar" special, Jessica revealed that Mark cheated on her during filming and LC, who dated Mark after the show, revealed that she asked Mark to be exclusive to try to reduce her chances of COVID transmission but he cheated on her and exposed her to COVID. Now Jessica is seen in a much more favorable light over Mark despite her messy onscreen behavior.

Deepti Vempati & Abhishek 'Shake' Chatterjee
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/deepti_and_shake_5.jpg

Deepti was a 31-year old information data analyst and Shake was a 33-year old veterinarian and part-time house DJ at the time of filming. The two bonded over their similar Desi background but Shake's superficial questions about Deepti's appearance nearly killed their connection. Nevertheless, the two proceeded to get engaged but Shake began to express doubts about his attraction to Deepti and Deepti became frustrated with the lack of emotional effort on Shake's part. At the altar, Deepti rejected Shake and the two broke up.

  • 0% Approval Rating: Shake emerged as the villain of the season, with multiple cast members indicating their disdain towards him on and off the show. A combination of his constant questions about the women's physical appearances (some of which were rather transparent and tasteless attempts to figure out how much they weighed) and his continued insistence that he wasn't attracted to Deepti even during their engagement angered viewers and fellow contestants alike. Even hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey gave him a verbal smackdown during the reunion special.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Deepti (and other female contestants) complain that Shake spends a lot of time in the dating pods trying to ask questions that would gauge the womens' physical appearance.
Deepti: "Shake doesn’t understand how Love Is Blind is supposed to work here. The whole point is about finding out who we are as people. Not, 'can you carry me?'"
  • Like Brother and Sister: Shake tells other people that he views Deepti as like his "auntie" and struggles to be physically attracted to her.
  • Like Goes with Like: Deepti and Shake are the only Indian-Americans of the season 2 cast and end up pairing up. However, the two eventually break up.
  • Loved by All: Deepti is universally beloved by the cast and even Shake's own mother scolded him for not appreciating her enough.
  • Never My Fault: Shake refuses to accept any wrongdoing about his behavior towards Deepti and insists he is acting in good faith.
  • Runaway Bride: Deepti leaves Shake at the altar.
  • Sexless Marriage: Actually engagement. It's strongly hinted that Deepti and Shake did not consummate their relationship, given Shake's complaints that he is not physically attracted to Deepti.
  • Why Waste a Wedding?: After Deepti leaves him, Shake encourages the attendees to turn it into a party instead.
