The protagonists
Gregorio "Gregory" Gallardo | Insecto Nocturno
An infamous criminal known as "Insecto Nocturno" around the land, Gallardo is a man trapped inside a powered armor, working as a bodyguard.
- Actually Pretty Funny: He finds Ofelia's wordplay for "cryptobots" as an amusing pun. Dimitri begs to differ.
- Affectionate Nickname: Dimitri calls him "Gregory" quite often.
- Alliterative Name: Gregorio Gallardo.
- The Faceless: He is trapped in a powered armor, and we never get a look of what his face looks like beside of his mouth.
- Hidden Depths: Is a reader of Ernest Hemingway.
- In the Hood: Gregory wears a yellow sweater over his armor, covering only his upper part and leaving his mechanical legs exposed.
- The Quiet One: He is known for not being very talkative. He complains about it in the bonus for chapter 3.
- Shout-Out: Gregory, a man trapped inside a bug-like armor, shares the same name as Gregor Samza from The Metamorphosis who awoke one day turned into a bug.
Dimitri
A mysterious techno-criminal that hired Gallardo as his bodyguard.
- Affably Evil: Pretty jovial to be around, but considered a bad guy.
- Bizarre Taste in Food: His food preferences are odd to say the least. He is introduced talking with Gregory about how delicious this French food is, leaving Gregory disgusted that the French could ever think of it. The food? Pasta made with crickets
- Depending on the Artist: Dimitri's design varies between Jose Nieto's rather serious artwork and Tony Corona catoony artwork. With Nieto's, Dimitri has a rather big nose and Villainous Cheekbones, while Corona's draws him without the cheekbones and a rather normal looking nose.
- Nerves of Steel: The moment Ofelia betrays and captures him, he couldn't be more bothered by it, remaining calm with nothing but a mildly annoyed look on his face.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: He is known as Dimitri, but his real name isn't known.
- Wicked Cultured: He is quite knowledgeable about literature, being able to quote a rather ignored part of Hamlet. He is still considered a bad guy, though.
The Republic Stars
General tropes
The special forces of the country that have been attacked by Gallardo in the past. They all wear armors based on different kind of bugs.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Two of its members first appeared in the untranslated pilot, named Escarabajo Marino (Underwater Beetle) and Mariposa Furtiva (Huntress Butterfly). Escarabajo would later appear again in the bonus for chapter 3 as the victim of Gallardo's powers.
Others
[[folder:Ofelia]]
A techno-criminal who has been a client of Dimitri for many years.- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She is not exactly evil, being just a techno-criminal, but she keeps a heart locket with a photo of her daughter with her all the time.
- Goggles Do Something Unusual: Her goggles control hundred if not thousands of small robots she commands like a swarm, with both visors controlling two sides: one to bury Gallardo under the sands of the desert, and the other to trap Dimitri. She named them "Cryptobots".
- Only Known by Their Nickname: She is known as Ofelia, but this isn't her real name.
- Pungeon Master: She named her microbots "Cryptobots". Her method of payment is through cryptocurrencies, and the word crypto means "hidden", alluding to their nature as invisible traps. When Gallardo noticed the meaning, he was amused.
- Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She has red hair, and her eyes under the goggles are of green color. Gregory even states people with green eyes are lucky charms.
- Speaks in Shout-Outs: She is an avid Shakespeare reader, and uses a part of Hamlet as the password for the underground base. Dimitri thinks she is pretentious about it.
