    Prince Hermes 
Voiced by: Takehito Koyasu
  • Author Avatar: In Happy Science's lore, he is established as one of El Cantare's (and by extension, Ryuho Okawa's) past lives, therefore making him this by default.
  • The Good King: After uniting the other kingdoms of Greece against the advances of King Minos and ending his reign of terror, Hermes becomes king as the prophecy said. During his rule, he led the country into an age of prosperity.

Kingdom of Rhodes

    King Kaipeia 
  • Parental Substitute: He becomes this for Aphrodite after her father was slain by King Minos before taking over her homeland of Delos. Needless to say, he keeps her imprisoned in her chambers as he plots to marry her off to Minos as tribute.

    Princess Aphrodite 
  • Damsel in Distress: She was held prisoner in a castle in Lindos, Rhodes after her home island, Delos, was defeated and taken over by King Minos. However, Hermes sets out to rescue her despite his subjects' warnings.
  • Mystical Pregnancy: She goes into a lake lamenting she can't conceive seven years after marrying Hermes, voicing her willingness to let him cheat on her so he can have an heir. However, the Goddess of Love hears her pleas and shoots her with a mystical arrow that impregnates her, and tells Aphrodite to name her upcoming son Eros.
  • Satellite Love Interest: She is mostly defined by her status as a prisoner in Lindos and her relationship with Hermes.

Spirit World

    Ophealis 
  • Author Avatar: In Happy Science's lore, he is established as one of El Cantare's (and by extension, Ryuho Okawa's) past lives, therefore making him this by default.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Before becoming a Fundamental God, he started off as a human sage who taught the Greeks in various matters.
  • Grandpa God: He in the Fundamental Greek God of Creation and is depicted as a bald old man in Greek robes holding the Staff of Kelyukaeyon, which he awards to Hermes later on.
  • Staff of Authority: He wields the Staff of Kelyukaeyon, a sacred artifact that can perform many miracles as long as the wielder believed in its powers. When he awards it to Hermes after he defeated King Minos, he tells the new King of Greece to not use it on his personal desires.

    Pan & Agape 
  • Mr. Exposition: Both of them talk up Hermes' actions and his role in the prophecy where he'll marry Aphrodite.
  • Those Two Guys: The two are never seen apart in the scenes featuring them.

    Delmone 
  • Godiva Hair: Her long hair is the only thing that covers her breasts.
  • Harp of Femininity: Her introductory scene shows her playing the lyre while weeping, and from what little characterization she has, she is a pure-hearted mermaid.
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: When Hermes meets her, she explains that her species live for beauty, and therefore needs people who love the sea and dedicate their souls to maintain that.
  • Sparkling Stream of Tears: She cries sparkling tears as she laments Earth's conditions have become hostile for mermaids.

Kingdom of Crete

    King Minos 
  • Animal Motifs: He is associated with bulls due to his brutish demeanor and reliance on military strength, and even wears a bull mask after imprisoning both his wife Pasiphae and the Minotaur as punishment.
  • Big Bad: He is the main villain of the story.
  • The Dreaded: He was feared throughout the Greek states surrounding the Aegean Sea because of his sheer military strength, which played a part in his conquest since the other rulers gave up on defending their lands.
  • Evil Overlord: He is a despotic tyrant who seeks to rule all of Greece through sheer military might, demanding prisoners to torture and work to death, and extracting tributes.
  • Hollywood Atheist: He becomes one after finding out his wife, PasiphaĆ«, gave birth to the Minotaur.
    King Minos: If I am being punished, I will no longer believe in God, do you hear me? If I cannot have an heir, I will conquer all of Greece, myself!
  • Horns of Villainy: Ever since PasiphaĆ« cheated on him and birthed the Minotaur, Minos wears a helmet mask with bull horns as a reminder of the event. This also cements his role as a tyrannical ruler and the villain of the story.

    Queen PasiphaĆ« 
  • Laughing Mad: When Minos returns to Knossos after Theseus sets fire to the palace on Hermes' orders, she's last seen laughing, impervious to Minos' addressing until he dies in the fires.
