First Appearance: Marvel Spotlight #5 (May, 1972)

Crash was a talented motor bike stunt rider, a friend and father figure to Johnny Blaze. His wife, Mona, died when she was caught in a motorbike explosion that almost killed Johnny as well, which soured their friendship - not because Crash held Johnny responsible, but because Johnny had made a deathbed promise to Mona that he wouldn't become a stunt rider in Crash's show.

Diagnosed with a terminal illness, Crash decided to take more risks with his show, feeling he had nothing left to lose. He was unaware that Johnny was bargaining with demons to save his life - the disease was cured, but Crash almost immediately died when a stunt went wrong. The demon subsequently sent his spirit back to Earth, to oppose Blaze and the Ghost Rider.

  • Death by Origin Story: Crash is Johnny Blaze's father figure, and dies in the very first Ghost Rider story. Johnny made a deal with demons to cure Crash's terminal illness. Crash, unaware of this, attempted a world record jump, saying that he didn't want to die in bed. Crash died when the jump failed, leaving Johnny cheated but trapped in his Deal with the Devil, which transformed him into the Ghost Rider.

Uri-El's true purpose is to drive the forces of darkness to the four corners with his purifying light of unspeakable joy.

  • Enemy Mine: Undead MC, a vampire motorcycle gang and Shelob, a gigantic demonic spider, teamed up to kill him but failed.

  • Holy Backlight: He is an angel, if a someone demonic looking one.
  • Monochromatic Eyes: Which is more eye detail than Ghost Rider is usually give, to be fair.
  • Our Angels Are Different: He looks less like any popular depiction of an angel or the way they were described in scripture and more like a bigger, stronger, more complete version of the Ghost Rider, which made sense with where Noble Kale's story was going. It makes even more since with later retcons, what doesn't is why the angels introduced after him are standard winged humanoids.
  • Power Glows: He is very shiny.
  • Public Domain Character/Archangel Uriel: Though he is not considered "canon" by most Christians, Uriel is an Angel from religious texts and Christian folklore.
  • Red Baron: The Angel Of Redemption.

  • Fiery Redhead: Though a naive and sheltered one.
  • Foregone Conclusion: She's seen spirits of vengeance from the future, who ensured her Zadkiel (who had taken over heaven at the time) would be defeated, eventually.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Despite being a former nun and ally to Ghost Rider she’s not above manipulating people for the greater good, even outright sacrificing Danny so that he can become the new host of the Spirit of Corruption.
  • Good Is Not Soft: As we learn when someone tries to take advantage of this kind, sheltered thing.
  • Katanas Are Better: Her main weapon.
  • Legacy Character: Becomes the Caretaker after her grandfather.
  • Mission from God: She sought out Caretaker, believing she had dreams of a "grand father" God wanted her to meet. It turns out God actually meant her grandfather.
  • Revenge: Against the Deacon who murdered her convent and the gun nuns. She did not kill him though, just kicked his ass, paralyzed him, and let the police take him to prison.
  • Teleporters and Transporters: Anton Satan used her to access Heaven and send an army of demons at it.

     Hoss

Hoss

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/728214_ghost_rider_3.jpg

Notable Aliases: Hoss the Demon

First Appearance: Ghost Rider Vol 5 #1 (November, 2005)

Hoss was a demon from Hell in service of Lucifer. He made the grandiose claim that he was sent to Hell after committing suicide in life out of sheer embarrassment. He is one of Hell's best bounty hunters and trackers, rivaling only the Ghost Rider himself. He travels the Earth looking for rogue demons and souls to drag back to Hell. Whilst driving through the state of Texas, he was assaulted by a gang of bikers; in retaliation, Hoss killed them all and revived them as a single terrible amalgamation which he named Buttview, who now served him as his assistant.

  • Affably Evil: To a certain degree. He loves John Wayne and singing along to country songs while driving with the top down. When Johnny's bike is stolen by Ruth, Hoss not only gives him a lift, but offers him a beer too. Subverted, however, in that he is a demon, and will shove your head up your ass if you scratch his car.
  • Ate His Gun: How he claims to have died originally, shooting himself as a young man out of embarrassment after being caught getting intimate with his mother's undergarments.
  • Attack of the Monster Appendage: Uses a giant tentacle as a weapon. Said tentacle also happens to be his... well, you know.
  • Country Music: He carries a wide selection in his glove compartment, and sings along to all of them.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Subverted: While he may come off as kind and jovial, he's evil, he knows he's evil, he loves being evil, and any demon who doesn't feel the same is a liar.
  • Fat Bastard: Just look at him.
  • Good Ol' Boy: A dark parody version, seeing as he is a demon.
  • Motor Mouth: He never shut's up, though considering he's surrounded by a cast of stoics, who can blame him?
  • Order vs. Chaos: He explains that while Hell and demons may seem chaotic at a glance, and many of their ways don't seem to make sense, there is a fine order to it. He specifically sites how people like Kazaan are dangerous because they want to shake things up, and while to an outside observer like Johnny it may seem as simple as trading one Hell for another, in reality it means the total collapse of the afterlife.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: As he explains to Johnny after the latter attacks him, he may be one of Hell's bounty hunter's, but that doesn't mean he's after Johnny. He has a job to do, and as long as Johnny isn't working for Kazaan then there's no reason they can't get along.
