Ivana Vamp (8th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ivanavampdri1promo.jpeg

Age: 32
From: Arezzo, Tuscany

(To the backstage crew) "Scusate, ma chi sono queste? Non avevate detto che ero sola?" note

  • Big Beautiful Woman: She's this season's curviest queen and serves old-school, high Camp glamour.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Ivanona" ("Big Ivana"), given affectionately by her fellow castmates.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Her drag name is a Shout-Out to Ivana Trump, prolific socialite and ex-wife of Donald Trump.
  • Only Sane Woman: During the first Untucked segment, while everybody is occupied arguing with Enorma, she's the only one who tries to diffuse the situation (and she also gives credit to Enorma for the points she's right about).
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The very first queen to be eliminated from Italia, following a flat attempt at episode 2's infomercial maxi-challenge, and therefore Italy's own "Porkchop"note .
  • Younger Than They Look: Her drag character looks like a lady in her 50s at least, but Ivana is third-youngest queen of the season at 32.

Enorma Jean (7th / expelled)*

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/enormajeandri1promo.jpeg

Age: 46
From: Milan, Lombardy

"The bigger the better, but Enorma, she's just the right size."

  • Dark and Troubled Past: In an iteration of the franchise where most of the queens have had to deal with horrifying parental rejection, Enorma's past is amongst the most tragic. Her father had previously cut all ties with her due to her lifestyle, and the pair only reconciled on his deathbed. Feeling lost, she started down a reckless path that included having frequent unprotected sex with strangers, which led to her contracting HIV, as revealed in heartbreaking confessional scenes in episode 2.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: During the first Untucked segment, most of the other queens take umbrage with her comment of "you need to eat your lip-sync opponent alive" and they all start arguing. Ava even stands up from the couch and moves away from her. It's even more evident in episode 4 when, after discussing Enorma's behaviour and how many of them believe she should be disqualified, once that really happens the queens cheer.
  • Grande Dame: As the oldest queen in the competition, she's a self-described Milanese sciura, and has the irrepressible, overbearing persona to go with it.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Even when she comes Back for the Finale to witness the crowning, she still wears an expression of weary contempt and doesn't seem at all pleased for any of the queens who made it to the finale.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: She'll explode at the drop of a hat, attacking any queen whose comments she takes exception to in a manner not seen across the franchise since the earliest seasons.note  In the Werk Room, following the Raffaella Carrà Rusical challenge, her conduct is so aggressively unprofessional (including berating her fellow queens, storming off set, verbally abusing the production crew, and using blasphemynote ) that it leaves her place in the competition hanging in the balance as the episode closes.
  • I Work Alone: She blames her explosive behaviour on not being used to working in groups.
  • Jaded Professional: Her default tone is a sort of fatigued, Seen It All indifference and she rarely appears to be enjoying herself that much during the competition, instead being quick to anger and acting oddly inconvenienced to be even taking part.
  • The Killjoy: After her unceremonious exit, none of the remaining six queens are sad to see her leave, noting that her presence in the competition was incredibly negative, dragging down the atmosphere and increasing the tension via her frequent complaining and propensity to go off like a rocket at any moment. Ava gives her mirror-message a cursory scrub before letting out a dismissive "meh" and flinging her cloth behind her.
  • Motor Mouth: She just cannot stop talking. The other queens are understandably pretty annoyed.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Her drag name is a play on Marilyn Monroe's real name, Norma-Jean, and literally means "Huge Jean" in Italian.
  • Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: During the explosive Werk Room argument in episode 3, she keeps referring to her age (46), seemingly framing it as a requirement for deference from the other queens, and as an excuse to throw the mammoth of all diva strops.
  • Silver Vixen: The oldest queen of the season and in no way less of a looker, she has real long silver hair which she often incorporates in her drag.
  • Sore Loser: After losing out to Ava in the disciplinary lip-sync of week 4, she exits the runway with only the merest of nods in Priscilla's direction, makes no apology for her behavior, and is seemingly defiant to the end.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: Admits at the beginning of episode 2 that her bitchy and competitive attitude is a way of covering up her inner self-loathing.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Priscilla calmly but very firmly makes it quite clear that she thinks Enorma's appallingly rude and aggressive meltdown in week 3's Untucked (where she verbally abused the show's producers) was absolutely not in the spirit of the Italia competition, and after giving her a bollocking on the mainstage, she commands her and Ava (also guilty of an aggressive outburst) to lip-sync against each other to maintain their places in the competition.
  • Worthy Opponent: Despite the friction between her and the rest of the cast, all of the other girls recognize that she's fierce competition and give credit to her talents when she utterly dominates episode 2.

Divinity (6th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/divinitydri1promo.jpeg

Age: 27
From: Naples, Campania

"Hey queens, la Barbie napoletana è qui!" note

  • Ambiguous Gender Identity: She says she's been confused about her gender identity before, and even began HRT for transitioning. Drag has helped her to sort these feelings, making her able to express her femininity as Divinity and be comfortable as a man when out of drag.
  • Bad Impressionists: Her Belén Rodríguez impersonation for the Snatch Game is a damp squib, and as well as not capturing the spirit of her subject, her accent is read as pure Neapolitan as opposed to Argentinian, which lands her in the bottom two. An overly-sexualised lip-sync performance to guest judge Donatella Rettore's "Kobra" versus Ava, who better embodies the spirit of the song, ultimately sends her packing.
  • Bitch Alert: She's the first queen to arrive in the Werk Room, and as her fellow queens arrive, she gives literally every one of them serious stink-face.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her dad died when she was 13 and she and her family found themselves in a condition of extreme poverty, having to resort to heating water on the stove.
  • Dreadful Musician: As demonstrated in the Raffaella Carrà Rusical, she really cannot hold a tune if her life depended on it. However, she compensates with a hilarious and energetic dancing performance, mugging wildly the entire time, and she manages to land her first challenge win.
  • Hidden Depths: On arrival she looks like the usual "skinny, bitchy fashion queen", but as proven in the Infomercial and especially the Raffaella Carrà Rusical challenges, she knows how to make fun of herself and entertain the audience.
  • Stripperiffic: Her self-sewn Italian Style outfit is little more than a large faux-leather bow that leaves her sides and her back completely nude, if not for her butt-length wig. This however works against her, as overall it feels incomplete.

Ava Hangar (5th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/avahangardri1promo_5.jpeg

Age: 36
From: Carbonia, Sardinia

(Screaming) "LET'S GOOOOOO!"

  • Berserk Button: In the Which Carrà Are You? runway, her choice of a rockier, leather-jacketed look for her Raffaella Carrà impersonation is half-jokingly described as "truck driver" from host Priscilla. Ava takes this really hard, venting during the Untucked segment that such a comment sounded really offensive towards non strictly "female impersonation" forms of drag, not to mention truck drivers themselves. After Ava is reprimanded for this outburst and survives the disciplinary lip-sync against Enorma, Priscilla reminds her, with wry good humour, that no truck drivers were harmed in the making of the series.
  • Face of a Thug: She's harshly read for having an overtly masculine, aggressive expression, and whilst she does tend to gurn, and can come across as quite intimidating looking, as she points out backstage, it's 2021 and what constitutes drag has moved on from the purely feminine forms of the past.
  • Hairy Girl: She makes no effort in hiding her hairy forearms and armpits. Lampshaded by Divinity just seconds after Ava walks into the Werk Room.
  • Incoming Ham: Positively bellows her entrance line, with the edit adding an echo effect for good measure.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: As well as the Punny Name (see below), her drag name is a reference to Italian-Hungarian tv personality and former pornographic actress Éva Henger.
  • Punny Name: The pronunciation of her name (in Italian) sounds like "avant-garde", though in English it lands less well.

Luquisha Lubamba (4th + Miss Congeniality)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luquishalubambadri1promo.jpeg

Age: 33
From: Bologna, Emilia-Romagna

"Mi disegnano come una stronza, ma non è così... io sono la regina delle stronze!" note

  • Childlike Voice: She speaks in an enunciated, childlike manner, as if carefully concentrating on every word she says, and her tone is airy and high-pitched.
  • The Ditz: She's a sweet-natured bimbo and claims to have never read The Adventures of Pinocchio when talking about her self-designed Italian Style Harlequin outfit. Keep in mind, Pinocchio is a book that kids read in elementary school.
  • Garden Garment: In keeping with her cheerfully quirky style, for the Viva la Sposa! runway of the semi-final, she dresses literally as a bridal bouquet, with her head encased in flowers and petals applied to her beard. She looks very cute, though her unpolished look lands her in the bottom two with Ava. Luckily for Luquisha, the lip-sync song "Cicale" by Heather Parisi could not be more up her street, and she just manages to ease out Ava to snatch a place in final.
  • Girls with Moustaches: She sports full facial hair as part of her drag looks, and is a proud bearded-queen.
  • Grandmomma's Boy: She was very close to her late grandmother, who sewed prince (and princess) costumes for her as a child.
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes:
    • The Harlequin look she comes up with for the Italian Style challenge is read for being confusing, too accessorized, and messing up her proportions, and she just barely — barely — survives elimination.
    • Priscilla comments "a dive into a closet when you're in a hurry" once she sees Luquisha's Fabulous '80s outfit.
  • Informed Attribute: She takes the opportunity of her entrance line to proclaim herself "the queen of cunts" and mentions in her Meet the Queens that she has argued with evert Italian drag queen, but Luquisha is an all-around sweetheart during the series (though she doesn't hesitate to talk back to Enorma when she steps on one too many toes).
  • Leatherman: She already has the prerequisite facial hair, so for her promo look she sports a dragged-up take on a classic leather-queen, complete with commissar cap.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: After Luquisha is told to sashay away in the premiere, Priscilla dramatically calls her back after she's turned to exit the runway, deciding to give her a final chance.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: "Lubamba" comes from the name of Italian-Congolese model and TV hostess Sylvie Lubamba.
  • Nice Girl: She's crowned the very first Miss Congeniality (Signorina Simpatia) of the Italian series.
  • Plucky Girl: Her cheerful ditziness and lack of inhibition help her to go far in the competition, with the judges noting that whilst she isn't particularly polished, her positive attitude and irrepressible nature are very likeable and endearing.
  • Prone to Tears: During the Grandi Dive critiquing in episode 2, Luquisha is so uneasy that she has a touch of the vapours and has to go backstage to cool off for a while before returning to the stage.
  • Skilled, but Naive: Luquisha's creativity is off the charts, but she often lacks the technique to translate it into polished drag, as shown with her Viva la Sposa! runway.

Farida Kant (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/faridakantdri1promo.jpeg

Age: 33
From: Maglie (Lecce), Apulia

"In the name of the father, son, Farida Kant!"

  • The Fashionista: By the semi-final, she's earned her place as this season's fashion queen, and for the Viva la Sposa! bridal-themed runway, her and her partner sport incredible, couture-level gowns that have the judges gasping, even before they reveal their Vampire's Harem theme and Farida splatters her whole outfit with "blood" from a wine glass. She thoroughly well-deservedly wins the week.
  • Jack of All Trades: As the judges note in episode three, she's a skilled seamstress, trained professional dancer, one of the prettiest in the cast, and not a half bad singer to boot!
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: She's pegged as this season's shadiest queen, and whilst she does make a few bitchy barbs and probably deserves the title, the judges also note that deep down, she's a sweet girl at heart.
  • Non-Ironic Clown: She walks the Italian Style runway in a "shabby chic Harlequin" look inspired by the Venice Carnival, with self-made pompoms adorning her outfit and earrings. The judges love both the outfit (judge Tommaso Zorzi even notes that it looks to have taken far longer to construct than the brief time she was allowed) and her excellent theatricality on the runway, and she's the rightful winner of the first maxi-challenge.
  • Proud Beauty: The cockiest of the competitors, and utterly unafraid to let the others know how highly she rates herself.
  • Punny Name: Say her name quickly, and you get "free the cunt".
  • Renaissance Woman: In the end, Farida makes it all the way to the finale without ever placing lower than safe, let alone landing in the bottom throughout the competition, joining a small but illustrious group of queens across the franchise who never place below safe, and can turn their hand to any challenge.

Le Riche (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lerichedri1promo.jpeg

Age: 35
From: Palermo, Sicily

"Sono Le Riche, e in mezzo a tutta questa povertà, sono venuta a portare un po' di ricchezza." note

  • Emotionless Girl: Part of her Rich Bitch drag persona, which however comes to bite her from behind in the episode 2 infomercial challenge, as the judges note that her permanent stone face prevented her from being an engaging saleswoman. Subverted in the subsequent lip-sync when she manages to have fun, turn it out, and win a shantay.
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: Averted. Despite being a very well-built man out of drag — both herself and Priscilla describe her as a "muscle queen" — her padding and costumes always lend her a very feminine figure.
  • The Perfectionist: She tends to hyper-focus on the task at hand, but as the judges note, this may lead her to forget to have fun. Once she manages to reconcile the two aspects she's revealed as an excellent competitor, as proven in episode 4 when she wins the coveted Snatch Game.
  • Rich Bitch: Her drag persona in a nutshell, which she describes as "fans, feathers, luxury robes, jewels", up to and including her name.

Elecktra Bionic (winner)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/elecktrabionicdri1promo.jpeg

Age: 27
From: Beinasco (Turin), Piedmont

"La stallona piemontese è approdata negli studi, stronzette." note

  • The Baby of the Bunch: With an average age of 34, the Italia queens are an older, experienced crew, and she stands out as the youngest competitor (though hardly young for the franchise overall at 27), and has the cute, twinky features to match. Her fellow queens also tend to "baby" her, given that she's really not the brightest bulb in the room.
  • Complexity Addiction: Her original idea for her Italian Style runway was a "Renaissance fortune-teller", trying to connect her home city of Turin (the "esoteric capital" of Italy) with the tarot deck and the floral print fabric she found in her box. Host Priscilla helpfully makes her realize that such an interpretation would require significant leaps of logic, and guides her to a more straightforward concept.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Probably the biggest example in the Drag Race franchise, Elecktra reached the finale without any maxi-challenge wins (although also no bottom two placements), having been safe the entire time, in contrast to Farida, with two challenge wins and also never up for elimination, and Le Riche with one win. And yet she ends up taking the crown, becoming the first winner to have never won any challenges.
  • Dumb Blonde: Self-proclaimed and repeated by the other queens.
    • When she wins 20 seconds to peek inside the boxes containing the material for the Italian Style sewing challenge, she says that she cannot even say her name in such a short time. True to form, her advantage goes essentially wasted and she assigns the box randomly.
    • In the episode 5 mini challenge, where the queens have to compose words with random letters (pasted on the Pit Crew's rears), Elecktra crashes out in the first round when the only word she manages to come up with is "tegana" — which is not an actual word in the Italian language.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: She's amongst the most beautiful and feminine-looking queens across the Drag Race franchise, and most of the compliments she receives, via the judges or her fellow queens, reference her beauty, bearing and overall poise.
  • Jack of All Trades: In the end, Elecktra makes it all the way to the finale without ever placing lower than safe, let alone landing in the bottom throughout the competition, joining a small but illustrious group of queens across the franchise who never placed below safe, and can seemingly turn their hand to any challenge.
  • Statuesque Stunner: In her heels, she stands over 2 metres tall and at least One Head Taller than some of her competitors.
  • Stripperiffic: By episode 5, it's become something of a Signature Style of hers to show off her perfectly pert bum, which she even does in a backless bridal gown for the Viva la Sposa! runway — something that causes guest judge and TV wedding planner Enzo Miccio to metaphorically clutch his pearls in horror.
