The Destine siblings

    In general

  • Enlightenment Superpowers: In addition to the gifts they're born with, some of the Destines have learned to use magic.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Their mother's a djinn, their father's a human who's been blessed with immortality. They're magical beings and Doctor Strange mentions that, once you know what you're looking for, they stand out and it's possible to find them magically when scanning a city.
  • Immortality Begins at Twenty: They seem to be Long-Lived rather than immortal, but the twins, and the other Destines we see, all seem to reach adulthood before their aging slows.
  • Immortal Procreation Clause: Implied, but never directly stated. Adam's immortal and his many children are Long-Lived, but after a thousand years there are still only two generations of Destines. None of Adam's children seem to have children of their own.
  • Long-Lived: They’re not immortal and ageless, unlike their parents, but the Destines can live for centuries.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: Twenty have been named, of which twelve are definitely alive in modern times and appear in the series. But there are definitely more - in the first arc Walter describes those twelve as just "a handful" of the surviving family, saying he's got no idea where the others are.
    • Sherlock, Garth and Lance are named on gravestones in the family cemetery, so presumably dead. There has been no other mention of them.
    • A few others, who are apparently still alive, also get named but never seen. Rik is mentioned in passing by Cuckoo, Albert mentions Nathaniel as one of the family's most accomplished magicians and Sebastian was apparently at Woodstock with some of the other siblings in 1969.
  • Meaningful Rename: When they've chosen new names, most have picked surnames with some thematic connection to their original family name (e.g. Fortuit, Hasard and Gamble).
  • My Grandson, Myself: Some of them have pretended to be their own descendants.
  • Super Family Team: Most of the siblings never wanted to be superheroes - or to work as a family team, for that matter. But in modern times, after Rory and Pandora started wearing costumes and fighting crime, some of the others have joined the team.

    Jasmine (Cuckoo)

Cuckoo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e1ec271f_dd03_4d9b_8c2c_51720594a382.jpeg

Alter ego: Jasmine Destine

Notable Aliases: Kay Cera, Jazz, Natsume Masako.

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

The eldest of the siblings. She has the ability to transfer her mind between bodies, thus earning her the name of Cuckoo.

In modern times Cuckoo lived as fashion designer Kay Cera. When Cera's body is killed at the start of the 1994 series, she possesses the body of Pepa Perez, a dying "street girl" from Barcelona, then reclaims Cera's wealth by using her telepathic powers to pose as Kay Cera junior.

Cuckoo is more morally ambiguous than most of her family, something which some of them are very aware of. She's a hedonist who likes to have fun, and is more than happy to indulge the twins when they want the family to act as superheroes.

  • Astral Projection: Can easily project her astral form across the world. In one scene she's physically in England, but astrally visiting Australia to talk to her brother Will. Her astral form is also visible to everyone when it manifests, as Will's shocked girlfriend discovers. She's also capable of summoning her brother Albert's astral form, despite his objections. Whether this is a product of her psychic powers, one of the magical abilities she's learned, or a product of both is left unclear.
  • Badass Cape: The green costume she wears when playing her superhero role includes a cape.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: In ClanDestine (2008), when the twins unexpectedly gatecrash a gothic wedding Cuckoo and Sam are attending, Cuckoo telepathically asks some of her friends - who happen to be real vampires - to give them a scare by threatening to kill them and drink their blood. Things escalate fast and, although nobody gets seriously hurt in the chaos, nobody finds it very funny.
  • Enlightenment Superpowers: She's learned a fair bit of magic over the years. Albert's comments suggest that she's one of the best magicians in the family.
  • Given Name Reveal: Her original name, Jasmine, doesn't get mentioned until the 2008 series.
  • Grand Theft Me: Cuckoo left her original body centuries ago. Whenever her current body fails, her mind simply moves to possess a new one - typically someone who's dying or newly dead (on one occasion she also managed to possess a vampire). However, she also lacks some of the Required Secondary Powers for this, so sometimes relies on her brother Albert's healing powers to repair and stabilise the new body.
  • Long-Lived: Notably averted, unlike her siblings. Jasmine's original body presumably had the same extended lifespan as the other Destines, but she's been wearing normal human bodies for centuries. Albert's comments when she claims her latest body suggest that they only get a normal human lifespan, at best.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Cuckoo's 19th century marriage to the Japanese prince Sakai Masaaki. Cuckoo's body was killed by a vampire while the couple were still young, though, and she let her husband believe she was truly dead.
  • Mind Control: Cuckoo can use her telepathic powers to control other people's minds, and does so quite casually.
  • Mind over Matter: Cuckoo's got some level of telekinetic power and a lot of fine control. In the first series she uses it to mentally keep her new body functioning despite a wound that should be fatal.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Kay's current body is a young, attractive woman who made a living as a prostitute before her untimely demise. As such, Kay enjoys dressing up in fashion that definitely flatters her new body, preferring skin tight leather outfits or one piece catsuits. Out of universe, she was created to keep in line with Alan Davis' habit of drawing "Impossible beautiful women."
  • Psi Blast: She's able to attack with psychic blasts. She's also able to relay them via someone else's mind - on one occasion, when Rory's in a battle far away, she monitors his mind and then uses it as a bridge to blast his opponent.
  • Punny Name: Her modern alias of Kay Cera is a pun on the song and saying Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be). It doubles as a Meaningful Rename, keeping the family's theme of names related to chance, destiny and fate.
  • Shout-Out: Cuckoo mentions that in the 1860s, while living in Japan, she took the identity of Natsume Masako and married Prince Sakai Masaaki. Both are references to actors in the Japanese TV series Saiyuki (released in the UK as Monkey), in which Masako Natsume played Tripitaka and Masaaki Sakai played the titular Monkey.

    Thaddeus

Thaddeus Destine

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.2) #2

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0d6b3593_90c7_4ed2_8abd_565981e0158a.jpeg
Described as a born warrior, Thaddeus was one of the family's first children. His powers allowed him to channel the abilities of any animal.
  • Beast Man: He's in a furred feline form when we see him. Adam's narration implies he has some form of Shapeshifting, but that's never shown in the story.
  • Killed Off for Real: Killed by an energy blast from the Inhuman criminal Tral, back in 1374. There's a touch of Disney Villain Death as he's blasted off the side of a Tibetan mountain plateau, and it's implied that Adam and Albert Never Found the Body. Nevertheless, he still seems to be dead.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He's introduced in a historical flashback in the 2008 series and killed three pages later.

    Vincent

Vincent Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ceb5998b_3e5d_4f1d_a81c_b0ae22502cca.jpeg

First Appearance: Fantastic Four Annual (vol.1) #33 (July, 2012)

One of the younger Destine children, Vincent was also one of the most powerful, able to travel through time and twist reality. However, his powers manifested when he was very young and he struggled to control them. Eventually his father, Adam, was forced to kill him.
  • Back from the Dead: At the end of the ClanDestine (2008) series, Adam channels some of Elalyth's power to defeat Griffen, Victor's able to tap into it and resurrect himself. Unsurprisingly, he Came Back Wrong.
  • Black Sheep: Some of the other Destines are morally grey, at best, but Vincent's the only sibling who had to be killed by the family. And then he Came Back Wrong.
  • Came Back Wrong: Victor's spirit and power come back, but his body's not in a usable state and Possession Burnout would apparently render any normal human body useless immediately.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Vincent's death at Adam's hands sent him into self-imposed exile and split the family, leaving Rory and Pandora to grow up without their father, with Walter and Florence looking after them, and with no knowledge of their Half-Human Hybrid nature. That in turn meant they assumed they were Mutants and became superheroes, got caught in the struggle between Alpha and Lenz, and left a trail that led Lenz's murderous hybrids back to the Destine family. Which is where the plot of the first series starts...
  • Reality Warper: It's strongly suggested, but never directly stated, that Vincent's powers fall into this category. Apart from twisting and travelling through time, he can shrink the Human Torch, stun the Thing with a gesture and seemingly access other dimensions.
  • Stable Time Loop: Vincent describes his life as a paradox and a temporal knot. Although he sees himself trapped in a loop and keeps trying to change it, it never works.
  • Time Master: Vincent can jump through time, although he's not always accurate. Some trips returned him to the present months or years later than he left. He makes time run backwards when his coffin shatters and he returns from the dead, while leaving some of the onlookers outside the effect and experiencing it in the other direction.

    Albert

Albert Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/462fc302_59d5_420f_a8e4_f732c241f5e6.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

He has the ability to heal people. Currently a monk residing in Nepal.
  • Astral Projection: He's able to project his astral form around the world and can apparently use it to channel his other powers, healing people who are thousands of miles away from his physical form. Whether this is a product of his powers, one of the magical abilities he's learned, or a product of both is left unclear.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: As a young man, Albert's a pacifist who pushes himself beyond his limits trying to use his Healing Hands to help the victims of the Black Death. When Tral kills his older brother Thaddeus, he finally snaps, falls into a rage and uses his powers to kill Tral.
  • Enlightenment Superpowers: In addition to his healing powers, Albert's learned a bit of magic over the years. He maintains that he's not nearly as good at it as Cuckoo, Gracie or Nathaniel, though.
  • Good Is Not Nice: In the present day, Albert runs out of patience with Cuckoo's Grand Theft Me schemes. Concerned that she prioritises extending her own life over trying to save the bodies' original owners, he bluntly tells her that she's run out of second chances. When her next body dies, so does she.

    Gracie

Grace Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b7479796_958f_4ce8_8fc8_564accfe8930.jpeg

Notable Aliases: Gracie Gamble

First Appearance: X-Men & ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1996)

Born just after 1500, Gracie is gifted with telepathy and telekinesis (and has learned some magic as well). She's spent most of her life haunted by her connection to the demonic Synraith and, in modern times, is working as an archaeologist.
  • Astral Projection: Like her mentor Cuckoo, she's able to project an astral form. It seems to be visible to everyone, not just those with psychic powers. Whether this is a product of her psychic powers, one of the magical abilities she's learned, or a product of both is left unclear.
  • Cigar Chomper: She's rarely seen without a cigar.
  • Enlightenment Superpowers: She's learned a fair bit of magic over the years. Albert's comments suggest that she's one of the best magicians in the family.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Casually uses this whenever it’s convenient, usually to make people forget her presence or her powers. She actually managed to inflict this on a (relatively young and inexperienced) Charles Xavier when they first met, which is no small feat.
  • Mind over Matter: She has fairly strong telekinetic powers. In her first appearance her archaeological dig team discovers a buried ruin that will take years to dig out. She clears it in seconds.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: As an overconfident sixteen year old she tried to tap into ancient magics to save the Aztecs from Hernan Cortes and the conquistadors. Not only did she fail, but she connected herself to the Eldritch Abomination Synraith and alerted it to the location of Earth.
  • Sweet Polly Oliver: Successfully passed as a boy when she joined Cortez's expedition to America in the early 16th century. It helped that she was also there acting as a page to Cuckoo, who was wearing a male Spanish noble's body at the time.

    Newton

Newton Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a10e3dcf_7fda_4d23_adbc_c484e4269e8e.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #2 (November, 1994)

One of Adam and Elalyth’s children, granted the ability of superhuman intellect. He is in charge of the Clan’s technology.
  • The Spark of Genius: Newton's a scientific genius, but that's part of his gift. At one point its pointed out that his skills are intuitive, so there are limits on how his creations and scientific knowledge interact with the work of others.

    Walter

Walter Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2ff5013f_b644_4dea_9b85_8ca508f744c8.jpeg

Alter Ego: Wallop

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

One of Adam and Elalyth’s children granted the ability to hulk out into a stronger body. He's said to be at least two hundred years old. In the present day he's a successful novelist.
  • Evil Me Scares Me: Walter doesn't have full control of his powers, and later issues make it clear that he's afraid of gradually losing control and ending up like his brother Vincent, who was eventually killed by their father.
  • Pen Name: He writes romance novels under the name of Sabrina Bentley. His poetry gets published separately under his own name.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: Downplayed, and sometimes played for laughs, but he can have significant trouble resuming a fully human form, especially if he's used a lot of power in his other form. The transformation is always much slower in that direction, and tends to be inconsistent. On one occasion his ears stay pointy, on another his feet refuse to shrink to their normal size. This can last for days or weeks.

    Dominic

Dominic Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/d41b04c2_6882_4d18_a3f8_eba235c43d8a.jpeg

Alter Ego: Vex

Notable Aliases: Hex, Dominic Fate

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #2 (November, 1994)

One of Adam and Elalyth’s children granted the ability of super-enhanced senses. He was formerly a stage illusionist/escape artist/magician, but he exiled himself to an island to live a quiet life.
  • Aura Vision: If he focuses, Dom can see people's auras - but in most contexts this also risks overloading his senses by picking up the background noise and broadcast signals of the modern world.
  • Logical Weakness: As with many characters with Super-Senses, he's vulnerable to Sensory Overload. In Dom's case, his enhanced sense of touch also means that the shock of any blow that connects in a fight will probably be enough to knock him out.
  • Sensory Overload: Dom's Super-Senses leave him vulnerable to this. At one point he accidentally eats a chocolate and it knocks him unconscious. He can see that holograms - such as the X-Men's Danger Room - aren't real, but also finds them hypnotic and highly intoxicating. And if anyone actually manages to hit him in a fight, the shock is likely to immediately knock him out.
  • Super-Senses: All of Dominic’s senses are enhanced, and can be further enhanced if he focuses. Unfortunately, this leaves him very vulnerable to Sensory Overload.

    Samantha

Samantha Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4470e6c4_8d00_43b8_8ba7_4b1f6c757297.jpeg

Alter Ego: Argent

Notable Aliases: Samantha Hasard

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #2 (November, 1994)

One of Adam and Elalyth’s children, granted the ability to form armor around her body.
  • Clothing Damage: Manifesting her suit of ectoplasmic armor while fully dressed also shreds Sam's clothes. This only becomes an issue when she dismisses it again.
  • Instant Armor: Sam can instantly manifest a suit of metal armor. It's actually a metallic ectoplasm created by her powers. The design varies slightly, as she creates it anew each time.
  • Spontaneous Weapon Creation: Her powers can be used to instantly manifest metal blades. Sam normally opts for swords, but has sometimes chosen a Blade Below the Shoulder built into her gauntlet instead.

    Rory

Rory Destine

Alter Ego: The Crimson Crusader

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/14a298d6_107a_4d2a_8839_88f6c9fb650e.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

One of the two youngest Destine children. Rory has gravity powers, which manifest unexpectedly early when his twin Pandora is nearby, and takes to superheroics as the hero Crimson Crusader.
  • Ascended Fanboy: He's a huge superhero fan, which is one of the reasons why he immediately dons a costume to fight crime when his powers manifest. When he meets the X-Men he's overwhelmed, and when Adam mentions the Inhumans he starts listing the members of their royal family.
  • Asleep in Class: Rory has fallen asleep at school (and been dreaming of superheroics) at least twice. Superheroics don't always allow him to get a good night's sleep.
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": His Crimson Crusader costume has a double C on its chest.
  • Badass Cape: As the Crimson Crusader, Rory wears a red cape as part of his costume.
  • Contain the Kaboom: Rory sometimes uses his Gravity Master powers for this, in place of the usual strength and invulnerability. It looks much the same, but the blast is actually being contained in a tightly-controlled gravity well. This also lets Rory use it in delicate scenarios that wouldn’t work so well for a hero relying on physical power - e.g removing an Explosive Leash from someone's neck.
  • Gravity Master: Rory can twist gravity in various ways, allowing him to fly, making him Immune to Bullets, levitating foes, containing explosions and simulating some level of Super-Strength.
  • Immune to Bullets: Rory's gravity control lets him ignore small arms fire as long as he's expecting it. The bullets clearly hit him, but then they bounce off and fall to the ground. In the very first issue bullets bounce off his head while he's arguing with Pandora and he doesn't seem at all bothered.
  • Invisibility: Combining Rory's Gravity Master powers with Pandora's light powers allows the twins to become invisible.
  • Wonder Twin Powers: Rory and Pandora's powers activated at puberty, much earlier than their siblings, but they only work when the twins are close together. It's unclear whether they'll still have this limitation when they reach the age when Destine abilities normally manifest.

    Pandora

Pandora Destine

Alter Ego: Imp

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/23c9528b_66ac_4a9c_9e8b_715d7190e0d4.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

One of the two youngest Destine children. Pandora has light powers, which manifest unexpectedly early when her twin Rory is nearby, and takes to superheroics as the hero Imp.
  • Hand Blast: Pandora can fire energy blasts from her hands.
  • Invisibility: Combining Pandora's light powers with Rory's Gravity Master powers allows the twins to become invisible.
  • Wonder Twin Powers: Rory and Pandora's powers activated at puberty, much earlier than their siblings, but they only work when the twins are close together. It's unclear whether they'll still have this limitation when they reach the age when Destine abilities normally manifest.

    Will

William Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2011fca4_df02_4a70_9a6d_b7cc449bfc07.jpeg

Notable Aliases: Will "take a" Chance

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #2 (November, 1994)

In modern times Will’s an actor working in Australia, first seen as star of superhero film Cap'n Oz.
  • Office Romance: He's discreetly dating actress Alice Springs, who plays Cap'n Oz's sidekick Taz.
  • Le Parkour: Boosted by his powers and some In a Single Bound leaps. One issue sees him silently jumping and somersaulting across the various cranes, posts and tentpoles of a film set.
  • Out of Focus: In modern stories, he's on the other side of the world from most of the family. In the first arc of the first (1994) series, he's drawn into events when Lenz starts trying to hunt down the Destines, but other than that he's rarely seen.
  • Psychic Block Defence: Cuckoo has to find Will the hard way, as his mind is routinely shielded against telepathy. It's implied that he can drop the shield if he chooses, but chooses not to.

    Florence

Florence Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ec806f34_47f8_4d4b_b572_0933579d8305.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

One of the few Destine siblings to remain in Ravenscroft, near the family's ancestral home. Florence shared a house there with Walter, Rory and Pandora - although the twins grew up believing that she was their grandmother, not their sister.
  • Dream Spying: Florence sees clairvoyant visions in her dreams. They also seem to have an element of Telepathy, picking up on the thoughts of those she sees.
  • Telepathy: Her Dream Spying seems to include some telepathic snooping on the thoughts of those she sees.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Killed by Lenz's hybrids in the very first issue. So far, she hasn't appeared in any of the historical flashbacks.

    Maurice

Maurice Destine

Notable Aliases: Maurice Fortuit

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1994)

In modern times, Maurice lived an opulent life in Switzerland, away from the rest of the family.
  • Enhanced Punch: His powers wrap his fists in some sort of flame or energy.
  • Fiery Redhead: Like several of his siblings, Maurice has red hair. He’s both literally and figuratively fiery, too - his Enhanced Punch powers wrap his fists in fiery energy, and Albert comments on his short temper after Maurice's death.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He's killed by Lenz's hybrids in the very first issue, and hasn't yet appeared in any historical stories or flashbacks. Eventually subverted when he's revealed to be Back from the Dead as the villain of a 2023 Love Unlimited arc. However, the Maurice who returns seems very different to the original version.

The older generation

    Adam

Adam Destine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/e853b277_cea9_4a17_bfd3_3796672b8843.jpeg

Other Names: Adam of Ravenscroft, Adam of Destine

The patriarch and forefather of the Clan Destine. Born in the 1168 AD, he has been granted immortality.
  • Death Seeker: Adam lost the will to live after killing his son Vincent. At the start of the first series he's alone in space, looking for a way to die.
  • The Juggernaut: Not only is Adam invulnerable to physical and psychic attacks, they don't even slow him down. In the first series, he simply keeps walking towards Lenz despite energy blasts, a mob of Lenz's hybrids grappling him and the super-strong Lenz himself punching him.
  • Seers: Adam sometimes sees visions of the future, but only when they involve death or injury for his children.

    Elalyth
A female Djinn, who fell in love with Adam and granted him powers.
  • Rescue Romance: A twisty version. Adam frees Elalyth from captivity, at which point their relationship starts. But it seems that years before that she'd saved Adam's life from afar, so it arguably works both ways.

Antagonists

    Lenz

Lenz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/46608599_396e_4ac1_b652_43980d68d86b.jpeg

  • Arc Villain: The main villain of the first arc of the first series. Lenz's attempts to hunt down the Destine family end up reuniting some of them.
    Lenz's hybrids

Lenz's hybrids

  • Cyanide Pill: They can mentally commit suicide, which explodes their body into sludge. One takes this option when Cuckoo tries to telepathically interrogate them.
  • Extendable Arms: Many of the hybrids extend their arms when they shift into a monstrous form.
  • Hive Mind: The hybrids are linked into a group mind.
  • I'm Melting!: The hybrids melt into goo when they die. As they're unstable, minor injuries can also destabilise them and lead to them fatally collapsing into goo later.
  • Psi Blast: They're not able to compete with some of the Destine telepaths, but they can unleash a psychic blast strong enough to subdue a target without psychic defences.
    Alpha

Alpha

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0db1b7c2_5218_41a2_8436_26895489587d.jpeg

Alter Ego: Dr. Hywel Griffin

  • Raise Him Right This Time: After his second clash with the Destines, he's reverted to a baby at the end of ClanDestine (2008) and left in the care of his rebellious Omegans. They hope he'll turn out better this time.
    The Omegans

Omegans

    Synraith

Synraith

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ab6dca83_8690_4e7d_a17b_ece6d612d65c.jpeg

First Appearance: X-Men & ClanDestine (vol.1) #1 (October, 1996)

  • Big Bad: of the X-Men & ClanDestine miniseries. Gracie's been keeping it away from Earth for centuries, but now it has an opportunity to manipulate the Destines and X-Men so that it can manifest.
  • Eldritch Abomination: It's a huge, tentacled magical horror that's trying to bridge the gap between dimensions and corrupt or destroy the Earth.
    Tral

Tral

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/86b5567f_15b7_455d_9509_9b246dd7234d.jpeg

First Appearance: ClanDestine (vol.2) #2

A renegade Inhuman with massive psychic powers. Some of the Destines encountered him in 1374 - in the battle that followed, Tral killed Thaddeus and Albert then slew him in turn.

In modern times, the Destines clash with a second version of Tral, an older variant from an alternate world. Both are covered below.

  • Cool Chair: Tral's variant, weakened by age, now uses a flying chair.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: In the fourteenth century, Tral's eyes glow red, as do the eyes of his zombie army. His older variant's eyes no longer glow, and nor do those of his puppets.
  • Killed Off for Real: Albert killed the main Marvel Universe (Earth-616) version of Tral in 1374. Thankfully, he seems to have remained dead.
  • Long-Lived: This variant of Tral, who wasn't killed by Albert, survived from his world's fourteenth century into modern times - suggesting that his counterpart could have as well. He's physically weak and frail by this point, but his mental powers are still formidable.
  • The Man Behind the Man: His older variant is the secret ruler of an alternate Earth, using the Inhumans telepathic king Maximus as his People Puppet.
  • Mind Control: He's capable of controlling a small army. At least some of those he controls are also People Puppets, comatose and only moving directly under his power.
  • People Puppets: His fourteenth century army are completely under his control with no minds of their own. Their bodies have degraded to the point that the locals consider them Jiangshi and they die as soon as Tral's power no longer supports them.
  • Telepathy: We mostly only see his Mind Control abilities, but his older variant is able to support that power with telepathic messages, and can hold his own in a mental battle against Rachel Summers. It's his heart, not his psychic power, that fails during that battle.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The Tral the Destines meet in 1374 is killed one page after he first fully appears, and only gets three lines of dialogue. His older variant is revealed on one page and dead by the first panel of the next.

Alternative Title(s): Clan Destine 1994
