The Roberts Family

     In General
  • Big Fancy House: The family owns the only known smarthouse in all of Malibu.
  • Loved by All:
    • Close to it. Aside from the Reardons and Tammy, they don't really have any enemies and have many friends as seen in episodes when they host celebrations.
    • In Family of the Year, the people of Malibu vote for them to receive the "Family of the Year" award over the Reardons.
  • Non-Idle Rich: The Roberts are clearly well-off (Just look at their house!), but both George and Margaret have full-time occupations as a documentary filmmaker and computer engineer respectively.
  • Quirky Household:
    • Trey has called Barbie's family weird on numerous occasions. Subverted since he doesn't have supportive parents and only knows how to be spoiled rotten.
    • Even George acknowledged this in The Sportathon Part 2 when his home was filled with animals during a power outage. Most of the neighbors didn't mind and were simply grateful to the Roberts' for letting them use the Dreamhouse's electricity.
    • Barbie, Skipper, Stacie, and Chelsea once ran a pet grooming business from their home.
  • The Power of Family: The Roberts are a tightly-knit bunch.
  • Wealthy Philanthropist: In the Sportathon Part 2, The Roberts allow their neighbors to use their home's electricity and water, and distribute relief supplies across Malibu during a power outage caused by an earthquake.

    George Roberts

George Roberts

Voiced by: Greg Chun

  • Good Parents: In Balancing Act, George helps Barbie realize that growing up isn't easy, but that doesn't mean that they still can't do fun things together like stargaze.

    Margaret Roberts

Margaret Roberts

Voiced by: Lisa Fuson

  • Gadgeteer Genius:
    • Margaret designed the smarthouse that her family lives in.
    • Its also mentioned that she designed a biorenewables power grid, possibly the one that powers Malibu.
  • Good Parents: Like her husband she is an excellent mother to her four daughters.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She resembles an older, more mature version of Barbie.

    Barbie Roberts

Barbie Roberts

Voiced by: America Young

    Skipper Roberts

Skipper Roberts

Voiced by: Kirstin Day

Barbie's sarcastic teenage sister.
  • Damsel in Distress: In the movie Chelsea and the Lost Birthday, she and Stacie get trapped in quicksand.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: The foolish to Barbie's responsible. Skipper is lazy, selfish, and cynical, whereas Barbie is hardworking, generous, and idealistic. In fact, the main source of conflict in the episode Picture Perfect Cake is that Skipper feels jealous of Barbie's many talents and feels insecure and that she might not measure up.
  • Gadgeteer Genius:
    • In Picture Perfect Cake, she walks Barbie through a robot repair process over the phone.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: The source of conflict in the episode Picture Perfect Cake is that she's jealous of how much praise Barbie is getting and how talented Barbie is.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Not as much as Trey or Tammy, but most conflicts she has with Barbie seem to come from feelings of inadequacies in comparison to her seemingly perfect older sister, which is the main source of conflict in Picture Perfect Cake.
  • The Lancer: In any episode where the parents leave and Barbie's in charge, Skipper is usually the one that acts like a "second-in-command", often challenging her big sister's authority.
  • Phoneaholic Teenager: One of her most defining character traits is her obsession with her phone.
  • Sibling Team: With Stacie. They like to make inventions together including socks on roller skates.
  • Skewed Priorities: Usually Skipper's biggest flaw. In the season three finale, A Dog's Day in Court, Skipper is more obsessed with people seeing her zit than the fact that her family, including her, is about to lose their house. Also, Skipper's reasons for turning down most of Barbie's suggested community service activities border on this, such as not wanting to volunteer at a soup kitchen because she's "cutting out dairy from her diet", which Barbie is quick to point out isn't how soup kitchen's work.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Downplayed. She's not evil, but is easily the most selfish of her sisters, usually only caring about how certain problems affect her.

    Stacie Roberts

Stacie Roberts

Voiced by: Cassandra Lee Morris

Barbie's athletic preteen little sister.
  • Academic Athlete: Implied. She seems to be pretty smart and enjoy science and knows obscure facts about history as much as being an athlete.
  • Friendship Trinket: Gives Skipper concert tickets that she haggled from Trey as a Christmas gift in Dreamhouse Holidays. Skipper reciprocates and insists on bringing Stacie along.
  • Literal-Minded: Doesn't seem to quite grasp idioms, and what idioms she does grasp (i.e. "this has my name on it"), she generally feels the need to specify aren't meant to be taken literally, like in the movie spinoff, Chelsea and the Lost Birthday. It's unclear if these are just meant as jokes or if they are trying to imply something about Stacie.
  • Passionate Sports Girl: Her most defining character trait is her athleticism.
  • Trash of the Titans: A running gag is that her and Skipper's room isn't very well kept. One episode in particular, Room Swap, heavily implies that it's mostly Stacie's doing, however.

    Chelsea Roberts

Chelsea Roberts

Voiced by: Cassidy Naber

Barbie's bright little sister.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Can border on this at times, particularly with her pranks.
  • Big Sister Worship: It's obvious that her favorite sister is Barbie.
  • The Prankster: Played with. She enjoys playing pranks, particularly on Barbie. However, almost all of her pranks fail in one way or another, whether it's from Barbie realizing that Chelsea's about to prank her, or from her taking pranks too far.

The Reardon Family

    Whittaker Reardon

Whittaker Reardon

Voiced by: Johnny Yong Bosch

  • Affably Evil: Like his wife, he dislikes the Roberts, but not to her level. He also seems to have a soft spot for Chelsea.
    • In Chicken Masked Mystery On Ice, he is genuinely touched when Chelsea expresses sympathies to him for losing a figure skating competition to his rival, "The Masked Peacock" many years before. Later, he shows support for Trey after he takes up figure skating as a hobby.
    • In Puts for Pups, he cheers for Chelsea after she gets a whole-in-one before Poppy chastises him for doing so.
  • Jerkass: He has the Roberts' moving van towed when they're first moving into their Dreamhouse.
  • Stupid Evil: In Welcome to the Dreamhouse, he tries using a nutcracker doll to crack open pecans.

    Poppy Reardon

Poppy Reardon

Voiced by: Lisa Fuson

Trey's mother and Whittaker's wife.
  • 0% Approval Rating: She is implied to be one of the most disliked people in Malibu after it was revealed that she was behind a flea infestation she tried framing the Roberts for in A Dog's Day in Court. She resigns from the city council on the spot rather than face a recall election that she surely would've lost big time.
  • Diabolical Mastermind: She's the one who comes up with the plot to get the Roberts evicted from their home in A Dog's Day in Court.

    Trey Reardon

Trey Reardon

Voiced by: Eamon Brennan

Poppy and Whit's son.

Barbie's Friends

    Ken Carson

Ken Carson

Voiced by: Ritesh Rajan

Barbie's childhood friend and crush.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Inverted. Ken and Barbie are now best friends instead of a couple like in previous depictions of them.

    Teresa Rivera

Teresa Rivera

Voiced by: Cristina Milizia

Barbie's tech-savvy friend.
  • Character Tics: Speaks Spanish when she's excited.
  • Genius Ditz: Is mainly characterized as intelligent, especially when it comes to computer science, developing her own app and creating an algorithm to come up with ideas for videos for Barbie's social media. However, she has a tendency to not think certain things through, such as when she doesn't seem to quite realize that breaking into someone's house and bedroom in the middle of the night to film a video of them waking up is inappropriate behavior.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: She occasionally uses Spanish exclamations when excited.
  • Token Minority: This series revealed her as Latina.

    Daisy Costopolis

Trey's Friends

    Tammy Bounceaway

Tammy Bounceaway

Voiced by: Kirsten Day

Barbie's main rival starting with season four.
  • Alpha Bitch: Becomes this when she transfers to Golden Beach High in season four episode five, Sister Class Act.
  • Asian Rudeness: She's of Chinese descent and is the main bully.
  • Auto-Tune: She uses this in "Barbie's Dance Dilemma" as she cannot sing AT ALL.
  • The Bus Came Back: She made her debut in the show's third episode back in 2018, before returning for season four episode five to become a series regular.
  • Captain Ersatz: To Raquelle from Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She sees no other reason to do acts of kindness than to look better than Barbie.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: She can't sing AT ALL.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She's very jealous of Barbie's success and popularity.
  • Hidden Depths: In the climax of "Copycat", she's revealed to be an expert when it comes to macaws. This comes in handy when Chelsea and Stacie have trouble getting Kacey's pet macaw out of the Reardons' house.
  • Male Band, Female Singer: In "Barbie's Dance Dilemma", she becomes the lead singer of a band with Trey, Ned and Ted playing the instruments.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: The song she sings, "Rock Your Socks Off", makes zero sense as it constantly brings up rocky road ice cream.
