Eternal Flame Clan
One of the Four Great Sects of the CCE (Crimson Cloud Empire). As seen by the sect's name, it focuses on the element of Flame. Home to the immensely powerful Feng clan and their Eternal Flame. Unfortunately, by the start of the story, the two sons of the patriarch have started to heat tensions towards civil war. Oops.
    General
  • The Ace: Each disciple who enters the Eternal Flame Clan is a peerless genius in their hometown and the surrounding area; otherwise, they would have never gotten inside the sect itself or passed the test.
  • Civil War: at the start of the story the sect has entered a cold and rather quickly getting hotter civil war between the factions of the two sons of the patriarch over who of the two brothers is worthy of being the next leader of the sect, it has split the sect in half.
  • Elite Four: the eternal flame clan is one of the Four Great Sects in the Crimson Cloud Empire.
  • Endless Game: The Selection Exam for the Eternal Flame Clan is to travel along the Ash Road, fending off attacks from hundreds of Spirit Beasts while the gravity increases for every gate the applicant crosses. The road is essentially endless, but the applicant only needs to get past the fiftieth gate to pass.
  • Playing with Fire: The Eternal Flame Clan, as the name says, uses fire as its main element of Qi, theme, and more. The main family has a technique named the Eternal Flame.

The Feng Family
The family that heads and has led The Eternal Flame Clan into what it is from the very beginning as the founders of the sect. The current climate of the family is tense, to say the least, as they have entered a cold and quickly getting hotter civil war.
    General
  • Signature Move: The most well-known technique used by the Feng family is the Eternal Flame (a form of fire so potent that it can erase souls and, according to its name, stays forever lit unless the one using it says otherwise). Almost all of them know how to use that technique.
  • Planet of Hats: The main family all have distinct features that are seen going from father to child: all of them (exept the ones who are married into the family) have red hair and golden eyes.

    Feng Zhang

The Patriarch
The head honcho of the Eternal Flame Clan and one of the very few that have gone to the realms beyond the Emperor realm. He is currently in deep cultivation to stabilize himself after breaking through to the divine realms, and as such isn't really in the story yet.
  • The Ace: as the strongest person in the Eternal Flame Clan, above both of his sons who are both emperors of the highest peak (emperor 9) he is this. he can also subdue both of his sons with ease while they are going almost if not all the way out. snuffing out their power like it was a mere candle.
  • Deity of Human Origin: One of the few to be in the divine cultivation realms.
  • Disappointed in You: Patriarch Feng Zhang tells his sons that he is not impressed by their inability to resolve which one of him will be his successor. The Patriarch is disappointed in Feng Shang for trying to have Feng Hao killed and in Feng Gui for attacking Shang for this, as that implies Gui thought the Patriarch wouldn’t intervene at that point. The Patriarch finds this lack of faith almost as bad as the attempted child murder.

    Feng Zhou
The one and only son of Feng Shang, tremendously talented and is very aware of that fact, considered by most people that know him to be the most annoying person alive.
  • The Ace: As the winner of the CCT (Crimson Cloud Tournament) and son of feng shang. Zhou is this. Being at the middle of the 7th realm of human cultivation (heaven 5) at the age of 24. Making him an undisputed prodigy among prodigies.
  • Always Someone Better: Feng Zhou is this in regards to Feng Zhi. far more talented than his cousin and as such far more easier going and relaxed.

    Feng Zhi
The first son of Feng Gui feels constantly inadequate compared to his relatives while trying to repress his Father's and uncle's feud over the ownership of the eternal flame clan.
  • Aloof Big Brother: Feng Zhi acts this way towards his half brother Feng Hoa because he doesn't really know who to act around him because Hao has far higher talent than him and Zhi is twice his age to boot.
  • Big Brother Instinct: however he is also this because he threatened Liu Jin to not involve Feng Hao in the schemes of the elders, said threat was that he will cut Jin's life short if he did anything untoward to his younger half brother.

    Feng Hao

child prodigy
The second son of Feng Gui, immensely talented but quite young (he is eight years old). currently being taught by Liu Jin.
  • The Ace: In spite of his incredibly young age, no, due to his incredibly young age Feng Hao is this. A child with an absolutely stunning cultivation rate. Almost unheard of talent. A prodigy among prodigies.
  • Big Brother Worship: he has this towards both his older half brother Feng Zhi and towards Liu Jin as well. He calls Feng Zhi ``Venerable Brother``. And he all but worships the ground that Jin walks on for being the first one in the entire EFC to be his friend. It also doesn't help that Jin became one of his teachers soon after.
  • Child Prodigy: When we were introduced to Feng Hao, he was an eight year old child that was already at the third level of the Nascent Realm. The Nascent Realm is the third realm of human cultivation. Most people are not able to leave it during their lifetime, and yet, Feng Hao, when we last saw him, was at the peak of that realm, about to enter the Spirit Realm, before the age of nine.
  • Playing with Fire: Feng Hao can change his Qi nature to the nature of fire. He is so talented at it that at the young age of eight his tutors believe he will soon be able to wield the Eternal Flame itself.
  • Heroic R Ro D: Feng Hao temporarily cripples himself the first time he uses the Eternal Flame. The Eternal Flame lingering presence in his body completely overwhelms all other types of fire and causes Feng Hao debilitating pain if he tries to use any techniques.

The Elders
the elders of the Eternal Flame clan are powerful, wise, and resourceful, noneless, they too are split in half into the two factions of the brothers.
     Elder Xun
The eldest and strongest of the elders, an old man in charge of the technique hall. the patriarch's best friend, he is the only on neutral (bar the patriarch himself of course) on the subject of who should be the next leader of the clan. An Emperor 9 level cultivator.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Elder Xun opens his eyes so rarely that many people think he’s gone blind. Of course, since Xun is at the peak of the Emperor Realm, it’s not like he needs them
  • Impossible Task: Elder Xun has many disciples seeking refuge in his Technique Hall so they don’t have to pick a side in the Eternal Flame Clan civil war. Xun decides to only accept those who can write 20 characters on a single grain of rice, without using any Qi. The more determined disciples have been at it for several months.

The disciples

The disciples of the eternal flame clan. Prodigies one and all. Weird and wacky as all great cultivators are. They are split as well in the Feng brothers' battle for the throne.

Lui Jins girlfriend. the daughter of one of the feng bothers - more specifically the older one. feng shang. is hiding this for a good reason. true realm level 4. Core disciple of the EFC.
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: Jin has started teaching Lu Mei the same technique he uses for his poison resistance. We still don't know to what degree she can use it.
  • Action Girl: Lu mei as a core member of the EFC. And in the middle of the true realm. The realm where one can wreck havoc and destruction on miles of ground at a time. Add to the fact that lu mei has the Eternal Flame at her disposal and her status as an action girl is undisputed.
  • Action Girlfriend: As Lu mei is Jins girlfriend (also a possible wife) and as seen above in the action girl trope. She very much qualifies for this one as well.
  • Affair? Blame the Bastard: Lu Mei did not have an easy upbringing. Her mother conceived her as part of a divorce scheme that didn’t pan out, so neither of her parents wanted her anywhere near them, but due to Mei’s Feng blood she was too valuable to get rid of.
  • Blow You Away: Lu Mei uses Wind Qi to do things like increase her agility to dodge attacks, cut people apart with Razor Wind and fly on her Magic Carpet.
  • Charm Person: Lu Mei is highly proficient at Charm Techniques and can wrap men around her finger almost instantly. If men fight her, they become more concerned with their skills impressing her than they do with winning.
  • Chocolate Baby: Lu Mei’s hair and eyes don’t come from either of her supposed parents. Though her father being in isolated cultivation well before the conception and after the birth was a bigger giveaway.
  • Heroic Bastard: Lu Mei can use the Eternal Flame. An ability that is exclusive to the Feng Clan. She’s very careful that Feng Zhi isn’t around to see her use it and start asking questions. Lu Mei’s mother wanted to find a better husband so had an affair with Feng Shang and conceived Lu Mei. When her current husband made a breakthrough in his cultivation, divorce stopped being possible and Lu Mei’s parentage was kept as secret as it could.

lu meis childhood friend, a misfit of the Bei clan of the Golden Fist sect. A brute, and a bunch of other B-related adjectives. He is always looking to where to plant his fists next. Only respect the strong.
  • Chrome Champion: Bei Hong’s Goldforged Body technique coats his entire body in gold, making him almost indestructible. This isn’t what the method is for, but Bei Hong doesn’t care.
  • Just Friends: Bei Hong and Lu Mei have been close friends since childhood and have zero romantic interest in each other. Lu Mei thinks Bei Hong is a fight-obsessed idiot, and Bei Hong thinks Lu Mei is far too attractive and devious to be worth the headaches of a relationship with her. Bei Hong sincerely condolences Liu Jin when Lu Mei develops an interest in him.
  • Not the Intended Use: The Bei Clan’s Gold Forged Body technique isn’t supposed to improve defence, since gold is a soft, flimsy metal. But Bei Hong wants to use it that way and won’t let something like common sense stop him

     Haung Shing
A friend that Jin met at the exam to join the Eternal Flame Clan, stronger than he looks. looking for his fiance. has many an issue with Feng Zhi. true realm 8.
  • Arranged Marriage: Haung Shing and Yi Jiao were to be married. As the match was because of their families and a union of their clans and both of them were friends it should have worked out. But Feng Zhi came in and took Yi Jiao away leading Shing to chase after him. we find out later in story that Jiao has never wanted to be married to Shing and that her getting kidnapped by Zhi was by choice. Also Jiao is in a romantic relationship with Zhi now.
  • Dissonant Serenity: The normally Hot-Blooded Huang Shing is completely calm and emotionless when he challenges Liu Jin to a fight, the first time they meet each other after picking opposing sides in the Eternal Flame Clan’s civil war. Jin finds it rather unsettling.
  • The Dragonslayer: Huang Shing’s Nine Dragon Slaying Palms are well named. He manages to kill a dragon that’s more than an entire Realm stronger than he is, which is a power gap that no amount of skill can overcome and a fight that should have ended in a few seconds.
  • Hero of Another Story: Huang Shing left home on a quest to rescue his stolen fiancée. In pursuit of this he discovered the scroll that taught the Nine Dragon Slaying Palms and before meeting Liu Jin has done things like battling pirates, killing dangerous Spirit Beasts and surviving a fight with a member of the Infinite Mountain Sect.

Huang Shing also tells Feng Hao that if he did go back and try and help then he and Feng Zhi would immediately attack each other, so he’d just make the situation worse. Huang Shing admits he’s being petty but says, given how petty the leaders of the Eternal Flame Clan have shown themselves to be, he doesn’t see why he should be the bigger man.
