    Hitoshi Hanamura

Portrayed by: Kyoya Honda

Haruka's ex-boyfriend, who broke up with her after her plagiarism scandal.
  • Alliterative Name: Hitoshi Hanamura.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In the Alternate Timeline where they are still together because Haruka isn't a Donbrother, his desire to introduce his mother to her actually crosses the line when he starts manhandling her over not showing up, even though she never agreed to come to begin with, until the appearance of Kaizoku-Ki scared him away. It heavily hints that he would resort to any means in order to please his mother.
  • The Grovel: Episode 19 has him spamming text messages to Haruka begging to get back together.
  • I Want My Mommy!: He cries for his mother whenever he is injured or running away from monsters.
  • Momma's Boy: He appears to be spoilt by his mother, often referring to her as "Mama/Mommy" before correcting himself as "Mother". He even claims breaking up with Haruka was a decision made by her for him.
Hitoshi: Mama— My mother said I shouldn't be dating a thief...
  • School Idol: He's quite handsome and is a member of the table tennis team. The girls were initially envious of Haruka for being his girlfriend.
  • Uncertain Doom: His mother told Haruka he's on a trip when she goes to visit him. However said mother is already a Cat Juto...

    Natsumi Kuramochi (unmarked spoilers)

Portrayed by: Momoko Arata

Tsubasa's long-lost girlfriend and fellow troupe member, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Miho. According to him, he promised to keep her abduction a secret for a year to get her back after she was taken by a mysterious force, becoming a wanted criminal under suspicion for her disappearance as a result.

  • The Chosen One: Of hers and Tsubasa's theater troupe when the Jūto performed a test on the group's "compatibility" with them, by having them swallow origami cranes in their sleep. While Tsubasa managed to avoid swallowing it altogether, Natsumi was the only one with a positive response to swallowing hers while the rest of their troupe fell into a deep comatose state. This led to the Jūto kidnapping her as a "compatible ally" whose looks are used for a Crane Jūto to copy off, with said Jūto eventually integrating into human society and becoming Tsuyoshi's wife Miho.
  • Expy:
    • Of Rie, due to being a hero's love interest who got separated from him by the villain (interestingly in the exact same way Rie was separated from Ryu).
    • Also of Roxy, being a hero's love interest who ends up in a coma while an antagonist assumes her from and identity.
  • Identical Stranger: She physically resembles Miho, Tsuyoshi's wife, just in dark clothing and wavy hair. It is later revealed that her appearance is copied by a Jūto.
  • I Will Find You: She is implied to be missing, due to Tsubasa's desperate attempts to find her. #17 reveals that she has been allegedly abducted by the Jūto as their chosen ally.
  • Love Cannot Overcome: After she's liberated from the Forest of Slumbers, she finds that the man she fell in love with has devolved into an Ineffectual Loner that won't discuss any aspect of the past year with her and shows little understanding towards the mourning of Tsuyoshi...whom she accidentally developed a crush on whilst "dreaming" of the moments Miho was using her appearance. She ultimately loses patience with Tsubasa in the finale and breaks things off, approaching Tsuyoshi to potentially "continue the dream they had."
  • No Full Name Given: Her last name was only revealed in #34.
  • Second Love: For Tsuyoshi. ...Maybe.
  • Walking Spoiler: The reason for her uncanny resemblance to Tsuyoshi's wife Miho is a major plot point.

    Yamada

Portrayed by: Kotaro Taki

The director of Pheasant Consultant, the company Tsuyoshi works at.

For tropes specific to his time as Dai-Ki, see the Nōto Layer page.

  • Bad Boss: He constantly demeans Tsuyoshi at work. He mellows out significantly after his stint as a Hitotsu-Ki.
  • No Name Given: In his earlier appearances before becoming a Hitotsu-Ki, his name was never revealed, being listed in the credits as just plainly "Director". His first name is still unknown.
  • Recurring Character: Whenever Tsuyoshi's business is part of the plot, expect him to show up in some form.

    Naoki Shiina (spoilers)

"Naoki Shiina"/Haruka Kito/Oni Sister (Future)

Portrayed by: Unknown (suit), Kohaku Shida (live, unmasked), Yume Sakanashi (suit, Future Oni Sister)

The mysterious mangaka and author of Broken Love Knight, who accused Haruka of plagiarizing their work. They went on to serialize their manga in Haruka's place after her fall from grace, re-titling it as True First Love Hero. It's later revealed that she is an alternate future version of Haruka.
  • Ambiguous Gender: It's unknown whether they're a man or a woman, as they are in a full bunny suit and do not speak in all appearances. To add to the ambiguity, their name (or pen-name, as the case may be) is a unisex one. #43 eventually reveals that she is a woman.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While we know Haruka didn't mean to plagiarize this person's manga, it isn't made clear if the way Naoki acted in #22 was a result of them being angry at Haruka due to being under the belief that she supposedly tried to pass off their work as her own, or because they only accused Haruka of plagiarism in the first place to get rid of a potential rival in the manga industry. It's eventually revealed to be a lot more simpler than that.
  • Bad Future: Downplayed, however this version of Haruka had allegedly been fighting as a Donbrother for so long that she needed a vacation from it to resume her manga career, which was what she used her Kibi-Points to do. Also, she somehow hooked up with a rich alternate Shinichi, but they have a problematic relationship with the rest of the Donbrothers.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Since the beginning, they're presented as Haruka's manga rival. #43 reveals she's the one that rescued Tsubasa from the Forest of Slumbers.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Her wish to take a vacation to pursue her manga career was specifically phrased as wanting to resume it "from the time she was at her peak". What resulted was her being transported to the main timeline where Prime!Haruka was at her peak, resulting in her having little choice but to sue her prime counterpart for plagiarism in order to kick start her own career in the same work.
  • Foreshadowing: Two hints as to their true identity are the fact that they're left-handed and cook beef stroganoff, just like Haruka.
  • Plagiarism in Fiction: Exaggerated Trope. Despite them accusing Haruka of this, Haruka believes the actual case is the other way around, as she has never heard of them or their work prior. While the truth is still ambiguous, it leans towards the latter as not only did Naoki rebrand their work as True First Love Hero, they also show an ability to copy Haruka's signature dish, beef stroganoff, down to the taste, despite such not being public knowledge. This is because Shiina is actually Haruka from the future.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Her accidental timeline-crossing in order to pursue her manga career led to Prime!Haruka getting accused of plagiarism and railroaded into being a Donbrother.
  • Walking Spoiler: Next to nothing is known about them due to their small appearances, so talking about them beyond those appearances means revealing who they are.

    Minoru Ohno

Portrayed by: Takashi Sakakibara

Taro's self-proclaimed rival, who has delved into grandiose delusions of being a ninja, wizard, adventurer, and a king.

For tropes specific to his time as Shuriken-Ki, Mahou-Ki, GoGo-Ki and Ohsama-Ki, see the Nōto Layer page; for Kikai-Ki, see the Movie-exclusive character page.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: His obsession with becoming a ninja is so strong that he sees shuriken in a horse's skin and imagines them wearing ninja attire.
  • Determinator: His desire to beat Taro being so strong that being turned into a Hitotsu-Ki multiple times has yet to quench it is nothing short of admirable. It's also why the Overseers turn him into Ohsama-Ki and why he's one of the two final bosses of the Zenkaiger crossover movie.
  • Discard and Draw: He's used multiple power sets as a Hitotsu-Ki, the only character thus far seen doing so at first.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Downplayed. His mother seems to have been the only person able to get him out of his obsession, but not to the point where he successfully staves off becoming a Hitotsu-Ki. Making things even sadder is the fact that GoGo-Ki's last words upon being cut down by Sonoi is an apology towards his mother.
  • From Bad to Worse: Minoru's primary desire is to defeat Taro. In the crossover movie however, this desire has extended to all of the Donbrothers, which is why he's still a Hitotsu-Ki even after he (temporarily) kills Taro.
  • Insignia Rip-Off Ritual: After recovering from his tenure as Ohsama-Ki, his mother asks if he is finally done with his delusions and really ready to live an honest life. He assures her he is done, realises he's still wearing his crown, and immediately proceeds to toss it away.
  • Irony: For all his desire to defeat Taro, his mother was none other than the old lady and only person who managed to land a strike on Taro in #18, where he challenged everyone around him to do so.
  • Near-Villain Victory: In the crossover movie. he actually accomplishes his desire to kill Taro when the latter protects the currently-de-powered Donbrothers from his ambush and nearly wipes the whole team out later when they try avenging him. However, Sonoi revives Taro near the end of the act and once the two teams meet, he and Kashiwamochi Wald are dispatched by the respective leaders.
  • Recurring Character: He shows up from time to time, determined to one-up Taro.
  • Uncertain Doom: He is presumably killed by a resurrected Sonoi, due to his GoGo-ki form falling at the hands of a Noto rather than a Donbrother, though we don't see his Cube prison shattering like we had with Kaito-ki or Mashin-ki. #37 reveals him to be alive, and would have been host to Seijuu-Ki until Sonoza removed the potential power from him.
  • Unexplained Recovery: While those slain at the hands of a Noto general are normally Killed Off for Real, he is shown to be somehow alive in #37.
  • Unknown Rival: The desire that makes him a host good enough for multiple Hitotsu-Ki is his desire to beat Taro. While the latter eventually knows about him, it's only from how many times he became a Hitotsu-Ki instead of his desire.
  • Villain Team-Up: With Kashiwamochi Wald in the crossover film.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Ohno's intense desire to defeat Taro has made him the subject of no less than four separate Hitotsu-Ki possessions, with one narrowly averted by outside forces. The only other person with a desire that intense is Tsuyoshi. This desire is then exploited by the Overseer trio seeking to create the ultimate Hitotsu-Ki, with Ohno becoming Ohsama-Ki.

    Jiro's Friends
Jiro's childhood friends.
  • Ambiguous Situation: While Terasaki states in #45 that they are all in Jiro's head — with it being confirmed in the following episode — there are previous instances that hint that they aren't just simple illusions: #14 has them conversing among themselves after Jiro is long gone, #20 has Rumi talking to her mother, which Jiro wasn't there for, and #35 actually has Rumi interact with her surroundings and the passers-by when she visits Jiro.
    • According to Inoue, this was because he hadn't decided if they were illusions yet back when doing those episodes, but was toying with the idea of doing so. This is why Rumi never actually meets or interacts with any of the Donbrothers.

Rumi

Portrayed by: Akari Asano
Young Rumi portrayed by: Miyuka Hayashida

Jiro's proclaimed on-and-off again girlfriend.

  • Relationship Revolving Door: Jiro broke off their relationship multiple times ever since their childhood, on the belief that he has to sacrifice it for his duty as a hero, only to come back moments later at times when he was too young to actually leave their village. Rumi has grown so used to this she casually takes it as one of his usual antics.
  • Supreme Chef: Even more so than Tsubasa; her simple vegetable stew actually sends Taro into a bliss-filled daze. Except she didn't really cook it...
  • Trademark Favorite Food: She is usually seen munching on a blue popsicle as shown when Jiro tries to break things off between them in both the present and several times in the past.

Mimasu

Portrayed by: Hikaru Morita
Young Mimasu portrayed by: Haruto Toyoda

Hakkai

Portrayed by: Toshiki Haseba
Young Hakkai portrayed by: Katsuki Suzuki

Sago

Portrayed by: Seiji Shaku
Young Sago portrayed by: Taira Utsunomiya

    Don Murasame (Future)

Don Murasame/Black Onitaijin Murasame (Future)

Portrayed by: Ayumu Murase (voice), Shogo Teramoto (suit/motion capture)

A version of Don Murasame hailing from the same alternate future as Future!Haruka and Future!Shinichi.

  • Conveniently Timed Distraction: Future!Murasame is also able to hear "Mother," despite not being linked with her. This distraction allows the genuine article to get in the final blow.
  • Evil Counterpart: To his prime self. He lacks a "Mother" figure to rein him in and is less expressive than his counterpart; acting more like the emotionless Living Weapon he was intended to be.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: His armor and helm have gold markings on them, and he's presented as far stronger than his prime counterpart.
