* TeamRocketWins: Subverted in both of the Donbrothers' crossover movies; coming within a hair's reach of victory, only for outside forces to re-connect the team(s) and do him in.

* FromBadToWorse: Minoru's primary desire is to defeat Taro. In the crossover movie however, this desire has extended to ''all of the Donbrothers'', which is why [[spoiler: he's still a Hitotsu-Ki even after he (temporarily) kills Taro]].
* InsigniaRipOffRitual: After recovering from his tenure as Ohsama-Ki, his mother asks if he is ''finally'' done with his delusions and really ready to live an honest life. He assures her he is done, realises ''he's still wearing his crown'', and immediately proceeds to toss it away.

* NearVillainVictory: In the crossover movie. he actually accomplishes his desire to [[spoiler: kill Taro when the latter protects the currently-de-powered Donbrothers from his ambush and nearly wipes the whole team out later when they try avenging him]].
