    General
  • The fact that the game exists at all. Many fan games are abandoned after a year, consist of little more than one boss fight, or get stuck in limbo. Undertale Yellow was in production for 7 years, was greenlit by Toby Fox himself, and - despite numerous delays - was successfully made into a lore-accurate, high-quality game, released for free. A major achievement for the creators.
  • Shortly after release, the game's soundtrack fell into hot waters when it was accused of copyright infringement by the CEO of Materia Collective (the record label that owns the right to the Undertale soundtrack), who subsequently rewrote the company's copyright policies to be far more punitive towards fangames. However, after much outcry, the issue was resolved on January 2nd, and a Twitter post by the devs heavily implies that Toby Fox himself joined in to sort things out. This still wasn't enough to prevent the arguments from turning increasingly sour (with one sticking point being that Materia's CEO had sarcastically pledged to donate 10,000 dollars to the UTY team), and following this Toby Fox issued an official statement, relayed by the UTY team, that while UTY's soundtrack had not previously received explicit permission, Materia's CEO had still behaved unprofessionally about the situation, with a pledge of 20,000 dollars to a charity of their choice and a promise to revamp the guidelines for OST usage.
    Clover
  • Clover jumping into the Underground. A kid, armed with a toy revolver and a sense of justice, leaping into the unknown to find out (and hopefully rescue) the five humans who fell before them without a hint of fear. This immediately tells you that, despite them not being Frisk, this kid is something special.
  • In the Pacifist Ending, Ceroba snaps after being confronted about the past by Starlo. She knocks out both him and Martlet after they try to calm her down. She then sets her sights on Clover, and her fight begins. At the end of her first phase, she traps Clover's SOUL in a small Bullet Board and relentlessly attacks Clover over and over and over. However, Clover survives as their HP goes into the decimals, the only other human having done this being Frisk from the base game against ASRIEL FREAKING DREEMURR HIMSELF.
    • And that isn't to discredit the rest of the fight, either. When Ceroba fires one more large projectile to kill them, Time slows down, Clover's soul flips upside down, and if you fought Spamton NEO in Deltarune, you probably know what happens next. After countering her attack, Ceroba pulls out Kanako's mask, puts it on, and grows ten red tails, starts floating, and gains a shield as "A Mother's Love" kicks in. Bring. It. On.
  • In the finale of the fight in the Genocide Run against Axis, Clover gets so angry after Axis tells them that he was the one who killed one of the five previous children that they spontaneously gain seven whole levels without needing to gain any XP, then uses their Soul's Wave-Motion Gun to blow a massive hole straight through Axis, permanently deactivating the robot instantly.
  • By the end of the Genocide Run, Clover becomes unstoppable in their mission:
    • First, Flowey shows up and demand they go to the castle and do whatever it takes to get his SOULS. In response, Clover moves to the FIGHT button. Flowey tries to forcibly reload, but can't. Just before he tries to attack them, Clover SAVES, and then reloads once he tries to attack. Flowey tries to repeatedly kill Clover multiple times, but Clover just keeps reloading. Then Flowey tries to run away, which Clover stops. Realizing he's beat, Flowey goes on a deranged rant about how much fun he had watching Clover die. To which Clover responds by shooting him several times over.
    • Then when Clover gets to Asgore, the king goes on a speech about how he regrets what happened, but that their fate was sealed when they entered his throne room. And then his trident breaks on Clover's soul. All the king can do is watch as Clover charges up the Wave-Motion Gun and completely obliterates him. The beam is so powerful that it chars the flowers between the two, destroys the throne, and breaks the wall behind where he stood.
    • After that, Clover absorbs Asgore's SOUL, takes the other 5 SOULS, and walks through the barrier. That's right, Genocide Clover actually averts the game's premise as a Foregone Conclusion and defies canon itself to make their own ending.
  • Even on the Neutral ending, Clover is no slouch, being able to resist Flowey's attempt to forcibly absorb their SOUL long enough that Flowey gets bored and resets.
    Martlet
    Starlo
  • Throughout a Pacifist or Neutral run, Starlo never really seems to come across as much of a threat. He's goofy, obsessed with Western Culture and keeps setting up weird scenarios in an attempt to appeal Clover to him. However, when things begin to go awry and the Fiesty Four get angry with him, he demonstrates that he's not all talk. He ties Clover up with his lasso and manages to keep Clover under control for a while before Clover breaks free, all while managing to fire off powerful attacks, some very difficult to avoid. The battle is the longest in the game up to that point, and if you don't fight back, it effectively ends in a draw thanks to Ceroba breaking it up. Considering that Clover is controlled by the player, who is powerful enough to get Flowey to back down, it's a very impressive showing from The Almighty Sheriff.
  • In the Pacifist route, when Ceroba tries to take Clover's SOUL to revive Kanako, Starlo immediately instructs Martlet to get Clover out of there while he keeps Ceroba at bay. He fails due to Ceroba being much too powerful, but the display of guts is commendable.
    • Even more so when you remember that Ceroba is not only his childhood friend, but is someone he likes, and stopping her would almost certainly irreparably damage their relationship. Starlo chooses to intervene - without hesitation - to save Clover because it's the right thing to do, no matter the personal cost. That's the definition of a hero.
  • On a Genocide run, Starlo refuses to run and hide like Ceroba tried to get him to do. He then convinces Clover to partake in a "dual". He loses, sure, but he shows that when the chips are down, he's a mighty fine sheriff.
    Ceroba
  • On a Genocide run, after you kill Starlo, Ceroba immediately attacks Clover in response, throwing attacks that can lower their max health. And even after Clover wins, she holds on just long enough to give a "The Reason You Suck" Speech:
'Ceroba:' ... Look. Look at me, coward! The fruits of your labor. Does this make you happy? Maybe if I were to beg for mercy. Make you feel bad about your actions? No... Once you wipe us out... I hope you choke on the dust that will fill the air. In the meantime... Go to Hell.
    Flowey
  • The game, especially the Neutral Route, makes it perfectly clear why Flowey is so dangerous. Firstly, since Clover doesn't have more determination than him, Flowey has control over the timeline - he can SAVE, LOAD and RESET whenever he wishes. This power over time is so incredibly broken when used correctly, and Flowey has had a lot of practice. Should Clover wait for Toriel to rescue them, he resets immediately. Should Clover try to back out of going to Asgore and stay with Martlet, he swiftly kills her from behind, kills Clover and tries to absorb their SOUL, only stopping when he comes to the correct conclusion that Clover (or more accurately, the player) is too determined to be absorbed and the battle will go on forever unless he stops and resets. And if Clover dies? Flowey LOADs and has them try again. The only reason Flowey is so dependent on Clover is because he can't get past Asgore by himself, and no matter how much he SAVEs, LOADs or RESETs, Asgore will always beat him in a fight.
    • The Neutral Ending is the perfect showcase of Flowey, both in power and personality. Once Flowey gets ahold of Clover's SOUL, Clover can't do anything except try to survive Flowey's attacks, their only hope being he gives up and RESETs. Many of Flowey's attacks consist of some form of self-loathing - such as tearing off his own petals or using his own tears as projectiles - or are used to taunt Clover - like using western-themed attacks or bringing back attacks of bosses they killed. Even the section where Clover seems to escape from Flowey is, at best, a moment of reprieve, as it's only a matter of time before Flowey catches them again. The entire sequence is a Nightmare Fuel-filled horror show that proves that anyone who lacks enough Determination is nothing more than a toy for the sociopathic former prince.
  • Identically to the original game, Flowey dies in the Genocide run. However, unlike UNDERTALE, he doesn't go down begging for his life; he outright taunts you and laughs as he's slowly gunned down. It's an absolutely bone-chilling scene, but also does a good job of erasing most, if not all of the catharsis gained from killing him, especially after he accidentally revealed that he was just using you.
