'’Detective Conan: Magic File 4-Osaka Okonomiyaki Odyssey’’ is an OVA released in 2010. It serves an Immediate Sequel to the film Detective Conan Film 14: The Lost Ship in the Sky.
Hattori wanted to take Conan to eat okonomiyaki as he has been promising to do so if Conan ever came to Osaka, however they faced many obstacles such as crossing a busy road repeatedly and finding the parents of an abandoned baby. Will Hattori ever manage to show Conan just how delicious Osaka's okonomiyaki is..
This OVA provides examples of:
- Covers Always Lie: The cover art drawn by Gosho Aoyama has Ran and Kaito Kid about to kiss, to Conan’s dismay. Kid does not show up and is not even mentioned, Ran barely makes a cameo and the real Deuteragonist Hattori is squeezed in the bottom, not even as part of the illustration.
- Downer Ending: A comedic one. Poor Conan doesn’t get to eat a bite of anything after all he went through. At least Hattori and Kazuha get to eat their full, though.
- Gossipy Hens: The Kinjou no Oba-han keeps Conan and Hattori waiting '’ten minute ’’ while she discusses various inane topics, mostly to herself.
- Green-Eyed Monster: The high school boys Hattori, Conan and Kazuha meet and the train station become jealous of Hattori’s fame and Chick Magnet status. Their leader initially states that Hattori’s father Heizo was who really saved the day before challenging him to solve various riddles Hattori and Conan solve easily.
- Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe: Due to a misunderstanding, Kaoru’s father Hikaru believes his son is not his.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Sadly, poor Conan does not get a bite of okonomiyaki to eat after all his hard work.
