Alternate Universe Reed Richards Is Awesome / Western Animation

Go To

  • In the Adventure Time spinoff Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, the Winter King appears to be a version of Simon Petrikov/Ice King that overcame the crown's corruption and created a paradise.
  • Close to everyone in Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension. Alt!Doof has taken over the Tri-state Area. Alt!Candace is the leader of the resistance against him, and the Fireside Girls and Baljeet are members.
    • On the other hand, Alt!Phineas and Alt!Ferb are closer to the brainwashed versions from "Phineas and Ferb Get Busted" due to Alt!Candace being overly protective of them. They eventually show the same seeds of coolness as their main universe counterparts.
  • Rick and Morty
    • Doofus Rick is often picked on by other Ricks because he's more naïve and slower on the uptake, but he is also far nicer and easy to get along with than the otherwise cynical Ricks. While most Ricks would never bother to invent anything that might help their fellow man because It's All About Me, Doofus Rick happily invents non-oven brownies for Jerry because he wanted to be nice, and, according to the comic, has cured cancer in his home universe.
    • Evil Morty’s clearly smarter than any other Morty, both tactically and scientifically. He was smart and willful enough to break the toxic relationship with Rick by tricking him into a false sense of security than turning him into a cyborg, under his control. Then he won the election at the citadel over the Ricks and then beat all the Ricks by destroying the citidel and escaping. To top it off, he comes back and defeats Rick Prime.
    • The show's main Rick is an inversion, as he's the awesome Reed Richards compared to his Alternate Selfs: He calls himself the "rickest Rick" and proves his point by not only destroying The Citadel and also being the one Rick to recognize Evil Morty's plan, but by being the Rick who finally defeats Rick Prime and earns the latter's Villain Respect for being one of the two only Ricks in the multiverse who actually were able to invent Portal Travel by himself, both accomplishments multiple alternate Ricks failes at.
  • Sonic Boom: "Two Good to be True" features an alternate universe where Knuckles is the leader of the team and very wise and well-spoken. Dave the Intern is a member of the team instead of a supervillain wannabe and is apparently a genius.
  • The Venture Bros.: After a villain with a portal in his stomach falls on top of him; Rusty Venture finds himself in an alternate dimension that has a richer, more successful, well-adjusted and less bald version of himself (offscreen). Apparently, our Rusty immediately tried to kill his other self with a rock to take over his life, but Alt!Rusty catches him and drags him back home to his own dimension. The whole thing is played as a gag.
  • Johnny Test: "Li'l Johnny" featured Johnny and Dukey getting a Shrink Ray and shrinking themselves beyond the subatomic level, ending up in a miniature alternate universe. Alt!Johnny is popular and dating Sissy while Alt!Dukey is Mayor of Porkbelly.
  • What If…? (2021) focuses on alternate versions of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, some of whom are far more powerful or stronger than their main timeline counterparts.
    • Peggy Carter became a British super-soldier that took down HYDRA during World War II and saved Bucky Barnes from falling and losing his arm. She also stopped a giant Kraken from destroying the Earth and would reemerge in the present day to join the Avengers Initiative.
    • The most ridiculous example would have to be T'Challa as Star-Lord. Not only did he outshine his Sacred Timeline self and Peter as Star-Lord in every way possible, but he has also saved countless planets, including Drax's which means his family is still alive, and has become a well known and respected Robin Hood type hero throughout the galaxy by 2008. He even convinced Thanos to do a Heel–Face Turn. Unfortunately this timeline also led to Ego easily tracking down Peter on Earth, but in the end this too is dealt with by T'Challa following his own return to Earth.
    • In the same episode with T'Challa, due to Thanos turning good the Collector takes his place as the Big Bad of the MCU and is implied to have killed, Captain America, Thor and Hela. Downplayed however as he was defeated far more easily than Thanos was in the Sacred Timeline by T'Challa.
    • A rare example where a character became more awesome by going through a Face–Heel Turn with Hank Pym, who, out of vengeance for the death of Hope during a SHIELD mission, kills all the founding members of the Avengers but Captain America.
    • In "What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?", Strange Supreme is incredibly powerful after centuries of absorbing the power of creatures from other dimensions (to the point he can actually perceive Uatu as he watches events unfold and defeat his good variant created by the Ancient One) but all he accomplishes in his quest to bring back his girlfriend Christine is the complete destruction of his universe. Essentially he's what Strange would have become if he allowed his arrogance and fear of failure rule his actions.
    • In "What If... Ultron Won?", a scene of Steve Rogers apparently being sworn in as President of the United States plays on a jumbo screen in one of the alternate timelines seen in Ultron's battle with Uatu.
    • "What If Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?" sees Happy Hogan very cabpable against a bunch of intruders to the Avengers Tower and eventually turn into a purple Hulk-like creature. The Happy Hogan of "What If The Avengers Assambled In 1602?" likewise is revealed to be a purple Hulk-lile creature.
    • Tony Stark in "What If Iron Man Crashed Into The Grandmaster?" rescues Sakaar from the reign of the Grandmaster and helping Gamora defeating Thanos with ease - solving plot points from both Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War within an episode.
    • "What If Hela Found The Ten Rings?" sees Hela and Wenwu undergo a Heel–Face Turn and bring freedom into the whole universe, including once again defeating Thanos in process.
