* TearJerker: That beautiful pirate ship that was ''physically built to scale'' for the final act? The crew fought to sell or even just donate it to someone for a museum or other attraction after shooting wrapped, but nobody accepted it, so it had to be scuttled.

* TheScrappy: The Country Club owners may be the {{Big Bad Wannabe}}s compared to the Fratellis, but while the Fratellis had a charm to them the owners' smugness and LackOfEmpathy made them very punchable.

* HypocriticalHumor: Not in the film, but in the ''Magazine/{{Mad}}'' magazine satire. One panel of it shows the Goonies prominently holding Pepsi cans while making a jab at the movie for all the ProductPlacement in it. In the movie, Mikey is seen flipping through a copy of ''MAD'' (one reader called them out on this in the "Letters and Tomatoes" column the following month).

** The CyndiLauper original is no less an Ear Worm. ''Ah-ay-yi-yi-yi-YEEEAH!!''

* TheScrappy: The Country Club owners may be the {{Big Bad Wannabe}}s compared to the Fratellis, but while the Fratellis had a charm to them the owners' smugness and LackOfEmpathy made them very punchable. While they simply lose the ownership of the Goon Docks at the end of the movie they at least get a well deserved LaserGuidedKarma in the novel.

* SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames: Both games by {{Creator/Konami}} and the ''VideoGame/LegoDimensions'' Level Pack were quite good, surprisingly.

** The joke about Creator/MartinSheen being a president (despite having played Kennedy in a mini series) is funnier after he played President Bartlet in ''Series/TheWestWing''.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The film is generally remembered as a kids film, what with it centering on the adventures of a bunch of kids. However, the film features a man hanging from a noose, a child stuck in a closet with a corpse, a deformed man chained up in a basement, panty shots of a teenager, jokes about drugs, a whole scene dedicated to a statue's penis and several scenes of adolescents swearing. When the SpecialEdition was released celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a PG-13(12A) rating some were surprised, until they viewed the film [[ParentalBonus through adult eyes]].

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Chunk's lie about Music/MichaelJackson supposedly stopping over at his house to use the bathroom becomes wince-worthy in light of his accusations of pedophilia.
