* GameBreaker: The Jecht Shot for Blitzball. With very little strategy and enough HP to use it constantly, it can result in almost effortless victories.
** There's also a rather interesting glitch that can be taken advantage of in the Blitzball games: after scoring even just one goal more than the opposing team, have one of your guys holding the ball swim into your own goal. The opposing team has no programming for what to do and so they just start swimming around in circles until the time runs out.
** Yojimbo, a summon mercenary who you can't directly control. You pay him every turn, and the more you pay him, the higher chance he has of doing his more powerful attacks. His ultra-rare best attack, Zanmato, will kill anything. Yes, ''anything''.
*** Not to mention that if you play your cards right, it's possible to have him use Zanmato ''as a free attack immediately after being summoned''. Now you're playing with power.
** If you take the time to get Yuna's Nirvana, and get her all the way to the end of her sphere grid and have her learn Holy, then everything in the game goes down very, very quickly. Better yet, get her through her own zone, Lulu's zone, and get into the center of Kimhari's zone (where the Ultima spell lives behind four Level 4 key locks) and you can doublecast Ultima for 2 mana. ''Less cost than casting your first cure spell!''
** Quick Hit, which allows you to attack for two turns in a row.
** Wakka's Attack Reels Overdrive + World Champion + high Strength = [[ForMassiveDamage 12 99999-damage hits]] = all but the toughest BonusBosses dead in one attack. Once he gets it, you might as well just have everyone else Entrust their Overdrive to him.
** Mindy's Passado can do ''[[UpToEleven fifteen]]'' 99999-damage hits if Yuna's strength is high enough. While this is definitely more net damage than the aforementioned Attack Reels, it's somewhat less reliable due to the Magus Sisters' pseudo-random AI, meaning that while you can ''influence'' Mindy to use Passado, you can never outright guarantee it like you can with Attack Reels. In the end, which you prefer comes down to risk vs. reward.
*** Passado's individual hits are also considerably weaker than those of Attack Reels, which becomes very noticeable against tougher enemies.

** Rikku's "Mix" Overdrive, so much so that most guides for the Dark Aeons/other high-level bosses make a huge deal of using it. The best combination is Final Elixir - mix a Hi-Potion and a Lv. 1 Key Sphere or Lv. 2 Key Sphere to get an item that heals the entire party to max HP and MP, revives KOd party members, and cures all negative status effects. Other awesome combinations include Quartet of 9 (makes one ally's attacks always do 9999 damage), Trio of 9999 (the same, but for the whole party), Eccentrick (doubles the rate of Overdrive gauge increase), Final Phoenix (revives all party members and heals everyone to full HP and MP), Hyper Mighty G (casts Shell, Protect, Haste, Regen and Auto-Life on the party), Freedom (gives No MP Cost to one ally for the rest of the fight), Freedom X (does the same for the whole party), Hero Drink (makes the critical hit rate for one party member skyrocket for the rest of the fight), Miracle Drink (does the same for the whole party), the list goes on and on and on.
** With sufficiently high Attack stat and Break Damage Limit, Wakka's Attack Reels pretty much becomes the strongest attack in the game by far, capable of doing a maximum of 1199988 damage!

As a result, he develops an ideology that life is suffering, and intends to become Sin so that he may kill everyone on Spira and end the cycle of death and pain. Unfortunately, he's targeted by the MisaimedFandom because the creators played ''down'' the potential Woobie traits and ''played up'' his condescending attitude and SmugSnake grin (as opposed to, say, the other way around]].

** Such as the creepy Greensleeves that forms the basis for most of it? (actually... yeah... making Greensleeves sound creepy is quite a feat, to be fair)

* DudeNotFunny: "Well, I am Sin, you know."
** Another example occurs when Wakka makes a rather tasteless joke as the Al Bhed prepare to destroy Home. Rikku quite rightly chews him out for it.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: While Tidus and Yuna are the leads, Auron's name comes up on this page more than either of them. This is because he is a BadAss, starting from his first line.
** From ''before'' his first line - the first time you see him, Auron is standing on a ledge high above [[spoiler:Dream]] Zanarkand, BadassLongcoat blowing in the wind, looking out over the city. He sees [[spoiler:Sin approaching, about to level the entire damn place,]] and calmly ''toasts the approaching monstrosity''. And this is set to [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome "Otherworld"]].

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Playing through the game a second time and knowing [[spoiler:that Yuna's pilgrimage will end with her sacrifice]] changes your perception of many early scenes. Especially [[spoiler:leaving Besaid.]]
** It's an in-character version as well, because when Tidus learns [[spoiler:about Yuna's sacrifice]] he suddenly has about the same reaction to those earlier scenes.
*** As the player is leaving the Djose Temple, Tidus very explicitly says that he realized that he was the only one actually laughing that day. Everyone else [[TearJerker had to]] or else they would lose the will to even finish the pilgrimage.

* MemeticBadass: Mainly, Jecht. Auron also has some shades of this.
** With Auron it's not memetic. He really is just that badass.

* MostAnnoyingSound: The entire time you're walking around the battlefield of Home, there's a voice saying something in (presumably) Al Bhed over the loudspeakers. No one really knows what he's actually saying.
** Tidus's AnnoyingLaugh.
* MostWonderfulSound: Death spell.
** Just about any PreMortemOneLiner your party throws out right before delivering the final blow of a fight.
* TearJerker: And ''how''. It might be faster to list what wasn't.

* TooCoolToLive: Guess.

* VillainDecay: After defeating [[spoiler:Seymour, for the second time he]] drops out of significance in the plot and eventually becomes a [[GoldfishPoopGang complete joke]]. Not even the main characters take him seriously anymore, with Tidus' reaction to their final confrontation being one of pure, simple annoyance.
