* DorkAge: ''Overcome'' was divisive and definitely was the start of their foray into radio rock (especially "Two Weeks"), but most fans will agree that it had plenty of good songs. Since ''A War You Cannot Win'' and the chart success of "What If I Was Nothing", however, virtually all of their older fans have been of the opinion that their insistence on trying to write another "Two Weeks" or "What If I Was Nothing" has ruined the band, and Phil's deliberately antagonistic behavior on social media and inability to shut the fuck up has done its fair share to alienate fans as well. Case in point: despite ''Victim of the New Disease'' making a much-praised return to the sound of ''The Fall of Ideals'' after a lengthy string of albums with increasingly poor reception, it had their worst first-week sales since 2004, and this was ''after'' an outpouring of support in the wake of Oli Herbert's death.

* TooCoolToLive: Seems to be the consensus regarding Oli Herbert. Even before his death, he was held in high regard as a lead guitarist, even by those who had given up on the band or never liked them to begin with, and he is remembered as an all-around good guy who was a truly rare talent with his instrument.

* YokoOhNo: '''''ELIZABETH.''''' '''''HERBERT.''''' While the investigation is still active, the fact of the matter is that Oli had privately expressed his deep dislike for his wife and desire to get a divorce well before his death, and immediately after his death, her increasingly obvious grandstanding and erratic behavior made many people suspicious. Once suspicion began to fall on her, she attempted to scare off the Justice for Oli Herbert page with groundless legal threats, in addition to publicly claiming that a very good friend of Oli's was a nobody fraudulently claiming to be an associate ''despite an Instagram photo with said friend existing on Oli's account''. The smoking gun that convinced people that his death was no accident was twofold: Beth had publicly asked for advice on clearing the brush from the edge of the pond on their property that he was found dead in shortly before his death, and a change had been made to his will just a week before his death. While nothing has been proven at this point, there is likely a good reason why the State of Connecticut is currently treating it as a suspicious death. This was backed by Phil; while he avoided commenting on the more specific aspects of Oli's death due to the ongoing investigation, he did not dance around the issue of Beth herself and straight-up referred to her as a "garbage human being" and dropped that she was [[PersonaNonGrata banned from touring with them]] (the sole significant other who was; all of the other members were welcome to bring theirs along) because they hated her that much, and only got to see them at local shows because they couldn't get the venues to ban her from showing up. He also stated that he had practically begged Oli to divorce her and offered to help him get back on his feet once he did, but Oli failed to do so for reasons he did not disclose.
