Fake Difficulty misuse, also Fake Difficulty is not YMMV

* FakeDifficulty: In case 3, if you try to suggest that you should use the key hanging on the wall to open one of the lockers (which could potentially be used as a foothold if opened), you get a penalty. Not a statement that it doesn't work, just a standard "oops" dialogue and a penalty. Later in the case, people like Oldbag state that the [[spoiler: killer shot the victim in the stomach (from a few steps away by implication)]] while they were standing facing each other. Trying to present the [[spoiler: preliminary autopsy results]] that show that [[spoiler: the victim was shot from below]] doesn't work. However, the real [[ItJustBugsMe Headscratchers]]/GuideDangIt start with the conversation with Lang in End Part 1.
** Lang says during an argument that "isn't it possible that they both knew that fact" in relation to [[spoiler: Lauren and Colin being related]]. While it wouldn't disprove Lang's statement, it seems slightly unfair that presenting the [[spoiler: victim's]] costume to show that it's also possible that they didn't know (since they may not have really seen each other) results in a standard penalty. During this same argument, Lang says that "the two of them made good use of their meetings to plan this little kidnapping." It's true that there are strong reasons to believe that they met, but it still seems unreasonable that presenting the dossier that says "We thought he might head for [[spoiler: where his wife and sole daughter are, but despite our surveillance, he has yet to show up]]" results in a standard penalty. Trying to use the fact that [[spoiler: someone stole a gun from the bad badger costume]] even though [[spoiler: the victim had already stolen a gun]] as evidence that they didn't do very much [[spoiler: good planning]] results in a standard penalty. The correct answer is to provide evidence supporting the idea that [[spoiler: there were three kidnappers]] when Lang states that [[spoiler: a certain pair of people were involved in planning something together]]. That does not have any obvious connection to Lang's main argument in that particular cross-examination (which is that the suspect [[spoiler: knew the victim's identity]]) and does not directly contradict the statement that you are supposed to present it at. Figuring out that you're supposed to present that evidence there requires either obsessing over the fact that he used the word two (even though that word wasn't all that important to the point he was making at that moment), or doing some very impressive reasoning to figure out that [[spoiler: if there were three kidnappers, it's possible that two of them never met each other during planning if the third one organized it]].
** Later, when talking to [[spoiler: Lauren]] during this conversation, the witness says "[[spoiler: he pointed a gun at me to kill me dead!]]" Presenting the gun that [[spoiler: fires blanks]] as evidence that his intent might have just been to scare her results in a standard penalty. Instead, you're supposed to present the [[spoiler: gunpowder-burned costume]] to show that the shooting couldn't have happened while the victim [[spoiler: was up on a stage]] while the shooter [[spoiler: shot from below]]. However, the [[spoiler: stage]] wasn't very tall. ME:AAI case 3 never tells you what the maximum range that can result in a [[spoiler: gunpowder burn]] is.
