!! This game provides examples of:
* AwesomeButImpractical: The Spider Eye ring is assumed by some players to be the best ring in the game due to its rarity, but it no better than a standard Ring of Health Regeneration if you are not a magic user. And health regeneration is also a pretty useless stat to begin with.
** All classes now use MP, the Spider Eye ring is now bit more practical, but only at lower levels.
* BigBad: The Mad God Oryx, only appears when the event bosses have been defeated on a single server. Actually considered by some to be less powerful than many other gods (highest-level random mobs).
* BulletHell: The Greater Skull Shrines, good God, the Greater Skull Shrines. You will see some gravestones.
** Also, what happens when you accidentally wander into a big group of monsters.
*** Or when a big group of monsters wanders into you...
* DungeonCrawling: The game currently has 6 dungeons, with more on the way.
* ExcusePlot: You're stuck in the [[TitleDrop Realm of a Mad God]]. Here's how you move, shoot and loot corpses. Now go kill things.
* FinalDeath: If you character dies, he is gone for good. The game even places gravestone where he died.
** However, defied when you have the Amulet of Resurrection after purchasing and equipping it for 12000 Fame.
* HealThyself: The Priest's healing ability can heal himself, as well as the other people in the spell's range.
* InterfaceScrew: Being hit with a confuse ray will rotate your controls 90 degrees. Luckily, the effect doesn't last very long.
* LethalLavaLand: Demon's Abyss and portions of the world-map.
* {{Randomly Drops}}: All items, aside from the ones you start with, are dropped by enemies.
** [[{{Exclusive Enemy Equipment}} That includes all equipment.]]
*** Save the Ring of Minor Defense.
* {{Roguelike}}: The dungeons, although the main action element does not change.
** The world map now changes whenever the BigBad is defeated.
* SaveScumming: Not literally, but quickly logging out when you're just about to die is common practice.
** Similarly, binding the Nexus hotkey close to WASD to allow quick escape into the safe haven of the game.
* ShmuckBait: "Pirate Rum - It seems like it would be a bad idea to drink this. [[PressXToDie Shift-click to use.]]" For the curious, it [[spoiler:makes the screen blurry for a minute or so.]]
** Also, the occasionally-appearing Mysterious Crystal. This immobile crystal constantly self-regenerates and begs everybody in the world to attack and break it (players who find it often add their own pleas for help). The sheer effort required to break it usually means that if it breaks, most of the available players will be right there, including a lot of low-level ones who don't really know what's going on. And [[SealedEvilInACan it's not the crystal]] that's begging you to break it...
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: Can be found in portions of the world-map.
* VideogameCaringPotential: You will often see top level players giving top tier equipment to level 1 players. This is doubly important after the new item changes, which made the top tier items only available from the two hardest enemies in the game
** This is partially because the game has no monetary system, though - you can't just sell things for money, you either have to trade or give the stuff away for free.
** Sometimes players will collect the items from gravestones with sole intention of returning it, assuming the original player will log back on.
*** Unfortunately, the "grave-robbing" mechanic has been removed.
** There is definitely something heartwarming about watching a high-leveled person walking around with a very low-leveled person, helping them understand the game and helping them get xp.
