* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Various versions of the Dreamcast beta reveal that ''Rez'' was originally slated to have drastically different music, which was probably replaced [[ScrewedByTheLawyers due to licensing issues]]. * DummiedOut: The Rez beta [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA6glWxMcRc used a mix]] of Underworld's ''Cowgirl'' and ''Born Slippy'' for Area 1. Area 2 used Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy", Area 3 used Ken Ishii/Flare's "Extra", and area 4 used The Chemical Brothers' "Music Responce", however sources are not entirely clear on 2 through 4. (Area 5 was [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klrCjkY5vU4 already using]] ''Mind Killer''). Only a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwBhUMU09wU handful of samples]] made it to the final release.

YMMV

* FanNickname: The Lost Area is occasionally referred to as "Area 0" (it doesn't even have [[spoiler: a boss battle]]). The giant cylindrical ship you meet about halfway through the Area 5 stage sometimes gets the name "S.S.[[note]]or USS or HMS[[/note]] UsefulNotes/SigmundFreud.''

* InspirationForTheWork: The artbook for ''Infinite'' revealed that the pacing for the first level was inspired by Mizuguchi camping out in the Nevada desert. He heard some music and saw some lights in the distance, so he went to investigate. After some spent walking through the dark desert and seeing the lively gathering getting closer, he came upon the Burning Man festival. The first level's subdued opening is meant to replicate the experience of journeying through somewhere dark and quiet, gradually reaching somewhere bright and full of life.

* KeepCirculatingTheTapes: The Dreamcast and [=PS2=] ports quickly fell victim to this, due to low sales discouraging further production of copies. Thankfully, it was KeepCirculatingTheTapes/{{rescued}} with the ''HD'' port on Xbox Live Arcade, which can be purchased digitally for 10 USD, as well as the ''Infinite'' ports on [=PS4=] and Steam.
