** The gratutious fanservice that goes on even during the serious moments is more likely to induce laughter than arousal. For instance, in episode 12's OnTheNext sequence, Moka gives a dramatic narration, and theeeen... PantyShot! Any chance of that sequence being taken seriously is killed instantly.

** The first theme song, Judy and Mary's ''Sobakasu'', is especially narmy. Here, we have a badass who can practically take down ANY foe without actually killing him. Some blood, broken bones, swearing, and dramatic scenes. What do we get for his theme song? A very [[TastesLikeDiabetes cutesy]] [[SoundtrackDissonance theme song]] that bears a slight resemblance to the 1980s Heathcliff one. That would be like playing the ''WesternAnimation/MuppetBabies'' theme during the opening for ''Series/SonsOfAnarchy''.

** Vash often TastesLikeDiabetes, and it shows when he [[BigNo begs a criminal to stop a massacre instead of kicking their ass]].

* ''Narm/SailorMoon''

** The fifth episode of the second season features a scene where [[AxCrazy Alois]] demands that Ciel [[FoeYay becomes his]] or else he'll kill all of Ciel's loved ones. This would be quite the dramatic moment if not for the fact that Alois was wearing a frilly maid's dress (complete with fake boobs) when he was threatening Ciel.

** Cynthia's speech after Ash and Paul's final battle about how "when one life touches another, relationships grow". The dialogue itself and the way it's delivered sounded very much like she was describing Ash and Paul [[FoeYay falling in love with each other.]]

** ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'': The knife fight. Fans will know ''exactly'' what this means, but for everyone else: [[TheAce Max]] has completely on numerous occasions in previous episodes defeated and humiliated [[TheAmazon Millia]] in combat, and so she decides to sneak aboard the Macross to confront and kill him. Unbeknownst to him, he ends up facing off against her in a flight-sim video game at an arcade ''and again metaphorically wipes the floor with her.'' Finally, under the guise of asking him for a date, she challenges him to a knife fight. The most ridiculously narm-y fight in existance. The animators made no effort whatsoever to actually depict what an genuine knife fight would look like, opting for the two to go {{Flynning}} with their daggers. In the end, [[RuleOfThree he wins again]], and she finally begs him to kill her. He instead, proposes marriage.

*** Also in ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers StrikerS]]'', the charges brought up against Quattro in episode 12 -- "Attempted murder and the use of dangerous magic in a populated area" -- become hilariously [[MoralDissonance hypocritical]] when Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate try to capture them with ''two {{Wave Motion Gun}}s and an attack [[NoEndorHolocaust that looks like it's destroying half of the city]]''.

*** The two of them [[HilariousInHindsight are also quite funny if you've seen]] ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'', as they resemble [[YaoiGuys Sensui and Itsuki]]. [[BrotherSisterIncest Have fun wrapping your brain]] [[{{Squick}} around]] [[HilariousInHindsight that one]].

** From the English dub: "''Hey God, if you're there, my life SUCKED.''" It's less {{Narm}}y in the original, where the equivalent line is something like "Please, God...look at the life I've lived."

** ''Manga/FairyTail''

** Yukino's ShamefulStrip. While the average reader probably isn't looking at the characters in the background, it's recommended for a good chuckle or two. One guy has his face scrunched up like his nose is itchy but he can't scratch it, there's a woman who's looking off-panel and spacing out, and finally there's an extremely gloomy/bored guy staring 'directly at the reader.' For no reason. There are probably more, but they stand out the most.

** There's also [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkA6kh5j_wI this]] clip of the last ([[AttentionDeficitOohShiny schizophrenic]]) 50 seconds of the first episode. Look, beautiful girls! No, look, [[HumongousMecha Giant Robots]]! {{Gratuitous English}}! [[ScreamingWarrior Warrior screaming]]! [[SchoolgirlLesbians Lesbians]]! [[StuffBlowingUp Explosions]]! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

** In the anime adaptation of ''Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureVentoAureo'', David Productions focuses more on the fly created by Giorno to follow the hidden enemy beneath the sailboat, who kidnapped all members of the cast but Bucciarati, making it seem like the fly ''itself'' is the enemy. It can feel a bit silly watching an Italian fashion model lecture an angry housefly on the wonders of Italy's sea birds in one of the series's signature, elaborated educational segments, like some sort of drugged-up {{Edutainment}} kids' show.
** ''Vento Aureo'' also features an important turtle with the ability to house people inside a miniature room within the jewel of the key embedded in its shell, serving as a lounge, hideout, and base of operations for the main cast. Too often does the turtle turn every sentence its mentioned in into ARareSentence.

** Also the ''ridiculously'' tragic backstories for many of the characters CrossesTheLineTwice for some. It's not tragic enough that Yuri's siblings are killed. Instead, kidnappers break into their house while she's babysitting them and order her to bring them the most valuable object in the house or her siblings will be killed one by one. They start killing her siblings at ten-minute intervals while she's searching, [[DeusAngstMachina and then finally she trips and breaks the valuable vase that kidnappers wanted so they kill her too.]] It's so stupidly melodramatic that it desensitizes the viewers.
*** Yuri had no clue what was considered valuable or where said valuables would be, so her going for the vase was a complete shot in the dark. Additionally, how she died wasn't actually confirmed in the anime, but in the manga, she was hit by a car while waiting at a bus stop.

* In ''Manga/RosarioToVampire'', it is stated that one of Moka's weaknesses as a vampire is fresh water. This is shown the first time when she jumps in a pool to save Tsukune. The second time, all they do is flick water on her, and she is screaming like crazy, and sparks are going everywhere.

* The last fight between Arika and Tomoe in the penultimate episode of ''Anime/MaiOtome'' ends with Tomoe's Robe shattering and her falling to the ground, screaming defiantly [[ChewingTheScenery in a manner similar to that of a cartoonish supervillain]]. [[spoiler:After she makes {{impact|silhouette}} with the ground, she [[NoOneCouldSurviveThat somehow]] is able to limp away and shoo off a group of palace soldiers trying to capture her/tend to her wounds.]]
* ''Anime/MaiOtome0Sifr'' had a Narm moment thanks to GratuitousEnglish. [[ActionMom Lena Sayers]] is fighting a hopeless battle, struggling with a stern face to withstand the energy blast while her Robe is literally falling apart... Cut to her GEM, displaying the words "POWER OVER LODING". Poofsky! There goes the dramatic tension. [[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome Still awesome]] [[NarmCharm to watch]], but the spelling fix would have made it perfect.

What he's actually saying is that although Archer has all the facts correct, Shirou doesn't ''care'' about his argument and will beat him regardless.

* ''Manga/{{Akira}}'' has the hammy SayMyName between "KANEDAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" and "TETSUOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

* Any dramatic scene in ''Angel Blade''. You just can't keep a straight face when huge pairs of bare [[JigglePhysics boobies]] take up half the screen, even during the biggest [[FullFrontalAssault fight scenes]].
* In ''[[Anime/AnoHanaTheFlowerWeSawThatDay AnoHana]]'', all the crying and screaming in episode 11, while not being [[TearJerker totally uncalled for]], can reach a point where it just descends into this and {{melodrama}}.

* While [[spoiler: Koro-sensei's inevitable assassination]] in ''Manga/AssassinationClassroom'' is quite possibly the series' biggest TearJerker, when the camera cuts to [[https://i.ytimg.com/vi/jD9FLhN-c4g/hqdefault.jpg Nagisa's blubbering and ugly crying]] it's a bit hard to not giggle.

* ''Manga/BetrayalKnowsMyName'': Yuki fainting after every single battle. Also Hotsuma's sword's name is "[[UnfortunateNames Master Stroke]]".
* The final match of ''[[Anime/BakutenShootBeyblade Beyblade: V-Force]]'' became little more than a shouting match after a while.
* The ''Bible Black'' English dub is Narm incarnate. See [[https://youtu.be/HQ-mxCKvQTI?t=5m26s here]] for the ultimate in unintentional SuicideAsComedy.

* ''Manga/BlackCat'': Two words- [[GratuitousEnglish NUMBAH SUHTEEN.]]

* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdRAN5S7rv4 This one scene]] from ''Anime/BloodPlus'' can be made into a drinking game over the number of times they say the word "Blood"! Extra Narm points for the idiotic actions and reactions from the vampires. It is explicitly pointed out that the protagonist's blood kills chiropteareans multiple times but they have her give blood to the chiroptearean anyways (which is pretty stupid on it's own). Then when she dies as noted they accuse the protagonist of giving her "poisoned blood" and act like the whole thing was her idea.

* ''Anime/BubblegumCrisis'': The whole dub. All of it.
* The infamous "[[MemeticMutation Rape Horse]]" scene in ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' is so over-the-top grimdark (''even by Berserk standards'') that it quickly becomes hilarious. The face doesn't help either.

* ''Manga/CaptainTsubasa'': Who the HELL would ''ride a horse'' through the streets of ''modern'' Paris to reach a soccer stadium? Why, Monsieur El Sid Pierre, of course! This scene courtesy of the ''Road to 2002'' anime version, and made even more nonsensical when we realize [[OutOfCharacterMoment how OOC it is]] for someone like ''[[LonelyRichKid Pierre]]'', according to his manga backstory.
* ''Manga/CardcaptorSakura'' features at least one example caused by nothing more than an [[RelationshipVoiceActor unfortunate coincidence in casting]]. In one episode toward the end of the series, Yukito passes out and falls off a second-floor balcony. Touya catches him by one hand and frantically screams his name, trying to wake him up. What should have been a tense, dramatic scene is somewhat marred by Touya sounding ''exactly'' like [[Manga/{{Gravitation}} Shuichi Shindou]] (both are voiced by Creator/TomokazuSeki) yelling at Eiri Yuki. Considering how different [[{{Keet}} Shuichi]] and [[BigBrotherInstinct Touya]] are, personality-wise, much lulz are often had at the expense of the sub scene.

** Well, it most certainly [[spoiler:puts the "manchild" in "PsychopathicManchild."]]

** Muraki's voice in the English dub is often seen as much more stupid than his Japanese voice, leading to many more moments of narm.

* For some, the incredible power of the Level 4 Akuma in ''Manga/DGrayMan'' is undermined by how incredibly ''stupid'' it looks.
** Same goes for a certain incredible strong, effective, and attractive empathetic weapon which goes by the name Clown Crown. One has to give Allen credit for shouting the name with a straight face.
* The ''VideoGame/DotHackGU'' Trilogy, which has Haseo shout "SHINOOOOOOOOO! ATOLIIIIIIIIIII! OVAAAAAAAAN!" within 1 hour and 30 minutes, much more frequently than the ''Franchise/DotHack'' games.

* ''Manga/FairyTail'''s anime adaptation ''really'' needs different eyecatches. And, to a lesser extent, less fluffy ending themes, though they are not as damaging. The penultimate fight at the Tower of Heaven is a great example.

* From ''LightNovel/FullMetalPanic'': At one point, Tessa's submarine is sinking dramatically when [[spoiler:Chidori, being a Whispered, [[{{Technopath}} bonds with the submarine and corrects the trouble]]. Her image then comes up on the main screens, and]] a reassurance appears on the main screens on the bridge, [[GratuitousEnglish written in English]]. Specifically, "Don't Worry, Everything is gonna Happy ♥"
** Made worse by that she apparently lived in the USA for a while and is somewhat proud of her English. It might be a TakeThat to Americans with bad English, but still...
* In ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure'', the scene where Kiriya screams while [[spoiler: mourning for his sister Poisonny]] is so badly paced (Kiriya first starts ranting [[spoiler: that he'll survive unlike her]] and ''then'' begins screaming) that it loses all of its drama.

* If you don't know Kabuki theater, then you'll find the summoning scene in ''Anime/{{Gasaraki}}'' either boring or Narm.
* The dub script for ''Anime/{{Gestalt}}'' (an anime so obscure that it should be red-linked at the time of this writing) was written by a translator who believed that he was writing the subtitle script, and he also didn't believe in localization. As a result, the dub is HILARIOUSLY absurd and stilted to the point where it's almost unbelievable that this came out of a professional studio. The scriptwriter in question has only one credit total in the English anime industry, and it's not hard to see why.
* From ''Anime/{{Genocyber}}'': "Playing with children, eh? TOO BAD HAVE SOME 50CAL BULLETS FUCKERS!"

* In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmFbgHqlMP0 this clip]] from ''Heritage From Father'', the secretary's SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome against the [[ScaryBlackMan Scary Black Woman]] is ruined by the poor English pronunciation.
* In ''Manga/{{Heroman}}'' we've got the villains names... The Skrugg, that name just sounds ridiculously immature, and just makes you outright ''giggle''.

* Despite being supposedly the darkest arc in ''Manga/HunterXHunter'' the Chimera Ant arc probably has the most narm.
** First there's the titular Chimera Ants; while some are cool most of them tend to look ridiculous, the spider mook being the worst offender.
** Speaking of which when he decapitates a RedShirt, which would normally be quite terrifying, the latter's severed head lies on the ground for a while then he notices his headless body and the ant who took his head he starts screaming. Which is such a fail at anatomy it becomes completely hilarious.
** Shaiapouf everything he does. He is narm incarnate.
** And when he and Youpi revive the King it comes off less like two servants giving up their bodies and lives to save their king and more like one big gay orgy.
** Maybe if this was ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'' it would have been fine, but Gon's [[spoiler: transformed state is just silly.]]

** John Smith's name is hard to take seriously because it sounds like an obviously fake pseudonym. It gets funnier because of how it's pronounced in English -- particularly in ''Anime/MaiOtome'', where his last name is used often. It's even funnier if you're familiar with ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya''.
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vv8B6IC3gY It's Only the Fairytale]]" has quite a bit of GratuitousEnglish and takes away much of the drama associated with [[spoiler:[[AlasPoorVillain Alyssa]]'s death.]]

* When Kouji Kabuto and the Mazinger Pilder are tipped out of Mazinger and thrown through the sky in the first Anime/MazinKaiser OAV... [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Does this remind the audience of]] [[TerribleTrio a certain Team Rocket?]]
** Even more is when Kouji and the Pilder are launched out, what they scream is hilarious:

* The second to last episode of ''Literature/MoribitoGuardianOfTheSpirit'' has a scene where Tanda is sent into another world when he passes through the border... but his horse isn't. This all happens instantly. It comes off as humorous because, at first, it looks like an animation mistake. It isn't -- his horse ''really did'' suddenly disappear out from under him.

* In ''Anime/NinjaScroll'', the nun moaning while exploding into a mass of writhing snakes was somewhat horrific in the Japanese soundtrack. In the English Dub, she makes a ridiculous noise that is hard to take seriously.
** In addition, the way Jubei yells "GENMAAAAAA!!!" at a certain point in the dub is quite hilarious.

*** The "musical number" at the start of that episode spoils the serious mood.

* The Alabasta arc in ''Manga/OnePiece'' loses a lot of its seriousness when the scene repeatedly cuts to Vivi screaming "Stop it stop it stop it!" over and over ''and over'' again.
* ''VisualNovel/{{Ookamikakushi}}'': [[Franchise/SpiderMan Spider-Issei]], in episode 5.
** From the same episode, Issei's raep face.

By the movie's climax, he doesn't even bother with the words - he just yells and has peals of [[EvilLaugh maniacal laughter]] every time the film cuts to him. Somehow, it's even funnier than it sounds.
** Please, Zero is made of Narm, have you SEEN his outfit! I don't know how anybody could take him seriously at first glance. Then he goes batshit crazy... and is even ''more'' ridiculous!
** Even his former mentor, [[LargeHam Newton Graceland]], has his moments.
* There's also the dub voice they gave Arceus. He sounded... Well, not the way you'd expect the OlympusMons who created the universe to sound.
** Wasn't their fault: [[WhatCouldHaveBeen they were going to get]] ''Creator/VincentDOnofrio'' [[WhatCouldHaveBeen to voice Arceus, but things fell through and they had to get the casting director instead]].
* From the third Pokemon movie ''[[Anime/{{Pokemon 3}} Pokemon Spell Of The Unown]]'', Entei approaches Mrs Ketchum and says "You. Are... Mama!" ItMakesSenseInContext but it's impossible not to laugh when it's being spoken by gigantic beast Pokemon.

* ''Anime/RomeoXJuliet''. Tybalt:

** Narmy enough in itself; coming from the brooding, cynical badass of the show...

* ''Manga/{{Saikano}}'': Many scenes where Chise cries, but her sex scene with Shuuji tops it all.
** In the middle of the otherwise heart-rending DownerEnding, TheReveal of what happened to the kittens Shuji and Chise found earlier in the story [[YankTheDogsChain went]] [[DeusAngstMachina just a little]] [[DiabolusExMachina too far.]]
** The character designs make it look like, instead of two high school students falling it love, [[HotForStudent a middle school student and her teacher falling in love.]]

* "Someone call an eye doctor!" (From the middle of the second episode of ''Manga/ShadowStar'', when Akira Sakura throws up on herself and passes out). The scene gets narmy once the sickening crunch has passed.

* ''LightNovel/StrawberryPanic'':
--> "You are the '''[[GratuitousEnglish chuuzen]]''' one!"

* In ''VisualNovel/TearsToTiara'', the English version of the original game's theme plays at certain points in the story... usually those where you would ''not'' want to be distracted at how ''bad'' the damn English is.
** The English dub of the anime is pretty good, but most of the characters have Irish accents that range from subtle, nuanced, and believable to ''magically'' '''''delicious'''''.

* The BittersweetEnding of ''Anime/TheGirlWhoLeaptThroughTime'' is an absolute {{Tearjerker}}... until Makoto ''herself'' starts crying in a shot lifted straight from ''ComicStrip/{{Peanuts}}''.

* ''Anime/TigerAndBunny'': [[spoiler:Barnaby's breakdown scream]] in the stinger of episode 18 is more than a little hard to not laugh at, with [[OffModel facial distortion]] that rivals ''Anime/CodeGeass''.
** Speaking of ''Anime/CodeGeass'', every time Bunny does a spin-kick in the English dub, I have to laugh because he's voiced by [[Creator/YuriLowenthal Spinzaku.]] Even in extremely dramatic situations like [[spoiler: when he's fighting Kotetsu.]]
* In Episode 45 of ''Manga/TokyoMewMew'', when Kish declares that he will die with Ichigo, his "rape face" is supposed to show how emotionally unstable he's become. It is somewhat goofy.

For whatever reason, the anime played out scenes that were meant to be humorous with the utmost seriousness, making them hilarious in a completely different way. Not to mention the ATROCIOUS animation ruined any and all SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome in the series, with the off model art taking away from the emotional impact. For example, Sena's infamous speed is portrayed with Shaggy-like running.
