Third use, and the little brother of the BigNo: a tiny, pathetic "No", almost if begging for the reality in front of the speaker's eyes to not be real. Disbelief and denial, with a blank or horrified look on his/her face. When being hammed up, this little "No" will often be followed by the usual hysterics and a resounding BigNo. Done effectively, conveys utter and complete vulnerability from characters too badass to break down weeping and screaming. TheStoic will be the one to use this "No", in a moment of NotSoStoic. Also found in the midst of many a TranquilFury, or at the beginning of a RapidFireNo.

* In ''WesternAnimation/TheLittleMermaid1'', King Triton says this after Ariel openly tells him that she loves Eric, who is a human, which triggers the sea king [[UnstoppableRage into a destructive rage.]]

** Sheridan does this in the episode "Intersections in Real Time", when after a prolonged period of torture and interrogation, he is asked to sign a FalseConfession.

The Duchess takes this at face value and orders all the spinning wheels in the castle destroyed. Roland mentions one of his late mother's favorite things was a ornate spinning wheel. When The Duchess doesn't take the hint and reiterates her order of ''all'' the spinning wheels, Roland shuts her and her personal guard down with a firm "no." It's the first time we see Roland stand up to The Duchess and a sign he's starting to lose his grip on the ([[spoiler:partially magic-induced]]) IdiotBall he'd been carrying for most of the book.

** In ''Film/{{Thor}}'', Thor lets out a BigNo after [[spoiler: [[DrivenToSuicide Loki lets go of Odin's spear Gungnir]] after still not getting affection from Odin, falling into the abyss below the broken Bifröst]]. Odin however comments it with a little "No".

* In ''Disney/BrotherBear'', [[spoiler: this is how Koda reacts when he learns that Kenai killed his mother.]]

* In ''Disney/MeetTheRobinsons'', Wilbur mouths 'no' in horror when he sees that [[spoiler:Lewis has decided to help Bowler Hat Guy]].
* ''{{Disney/Mulan}}'' gives one when her family name is called to go away to war, meaning her elderly and injured father must go and will probably die.

* Mother Gothel of ''Disney/{{Tangled}}'' gives a few after [[spoiler:Flynn/Eugene cuts Rapunzel's hair]].
